Have you brought in milkshakes or pudding for her to eat?
Perfect words of encouragement. Strangely enough, as I sat with her Sunday, while her Mom was out of the room, DGD said to me, "
Grandma, I don't want any cheesebrugers". I said ok, would you like some thing else? Sometimes I don't want any cheeseburgers but a hamburger would be nice." She just went back to not talking.

We have tried every food possible. Even left her in the room alone with the food within easy reach. Nothing... Yet.

I am so sorry for the pain and the worry and the self-blame. I do hope that something changes for you soon and the healing process can begin.

Oh my~ Maybe something posted there will give you a clue~

Has anyone thought of slipping her a little 'truth serum' as a way of helping her open up and talk about what she's feeling? I know that sounds drastic, but I think at this point, waiting her out seems drastic too.

Wow. I'm trying anything right now. DS and DDIL have clammed up. They are so in denile. DS cries and DDIL stares. And yells. A lot.

I think I caught the flu from my DH who caught it from my mom.

Mi

ps...I love you Boop.

I know this is going to sound terribly simplistic, but has anyone tried parroting what she says? So she feels she is being heard and her feelings are being validated? Or told her right out she doesn't have to eat a cheeseburger, and to go ahead and cry if she wants to?

Sounds like she is wanting to be understood.

Hi HH!

Mi, I wonder- You say a few pages back she mentioned a cheeseburger. Why a cheeseburger? I wonder if she DID choke on a big bite of burger, like some of those posts on that other site?

I know my mom cooked everything extra well-done, and the ground beef was just like rocks or gravel sometimes. (I am still not too fond of it)

Just trying to think of something, anything... Hugs to you and GB!

I'm still keeping your family in my thoughts. You need to remember the feeding tube is only temporary until they figure out what's going on.

My DGD did this when she turned 1 year old and didn't eat again until she was 2 (except for formula)....she had feeding therapists that came to her house and worked with her 3 days a week with no luck....finally one day her physical therapist got her laughing and stuck a spoon in her mouth and after doing that a few times she just started eating.....The same day she thought she'd try to get her to switch to a cup and she refused to drink for a month....she ate a lot of applesauce, icecream, etc to get "fluids" into her.....finally one day she took a bottle....then when they tried the cup again she took it no problems....we never did figure out why she did that, but she finally started again...She'll be 5 in March. Good luck Mi!

Wow, that is amazing! I'm sure this will be a ray of hope for Mimi and family.

I wasn't aware of this post until I saw it as a sticky. I was so afraid to fastforward to the end of it given that it's been escalated to this level of attention.

I'm glad to hear she's still hanging in even if you haven't figured out the origin of the problem.
