Thanks, Dennis, and don't worry. We had a practice run last night at Goodwood Barbecue. Ordered wings, coleslaw, veggies and a half rack of baby back ribs. Had saved most of my carbs for dinner, realizing that there was sugar in the sauce. Down another pound this morning. I am truly converted to this WOE. Now back to my eggs and butter. Yummo.

is this where newbies introduce themselves?? i didn't see another place.
i have done every diet known to man, including low carb versions (i remember back in the day doing what was called a caveman diet, aka eating things cavemen could eat like meat, plants, fruits, seeds, etc). I have been successful one time doing Suzanne Somers but then I went to college and on my budget and with all the rules, I failed and gained back everything plus tons more. I tried low carbing it last year and did pretty good but then holidays rolled around and my "I'll just cheat on thanksgiving" turned into gaining it ALL back. I kept telling myself I would eventually lose weight when I got engaged as a sort of, OK now i Have to do it, but my wedding is in September so that didn't work. I finally realized I have to do this for me, for my health, plus I really want to have a baby! I have seen people do the pregnancy while fat thing and it just scares me. I have about 150 lbs ( ) to lose to get even close to where I would want to be but I think I can do it In less than a week I have lost 11.2 lbs! I have never been this successful in my life. I never even experienced the induction flu before, and I am now hardcore plus my appetite is like nonexistant. It rules! This site keeps me sane and keeps me motivated so I am so grateful for it!!! |

I lost 35 pounds on Atkins last time (4 or 5 years ago), but lost a lot of muscle in the process. I have seen the cyclical ketosis diet (CKD), and it seems to make sense for people who want to lose weight but maintain some muscle mass. Does anyone know anything about this?

Hi everyone! I am also a newbie and wanted to introduce myself. I'm Chris, I'm 24 yrs old, I'm married (for almost 4 yrs), and have pretty much been pregnant since Aug 2007. I have a two year old, a one year old, and an almost 3 month old, so I have TONS of "baby weight" to get rid of,
ANYWAY, I started Atkins almost two weeks ago and my starting weight was 210lbs (I'm 5'3" and now have a "post-baby" body, AKA really saggy tummy... |

Hello! I'm a newbie here and just restarted my diet after a break. I recently moved to Mississippi and it is HOT here! Don't have a lot to lose, but it would be great if I could get this extra weight off, it is too hot here to wear pants in the summer and no way am I wearing shorts at this weight!

Newbie
Hi all,
I'm a newbie too. This is my 2nd round - first time I lost 35 lbs, but after having my baby in 07, I've gained it all back. For some reason I'm really struggling with Induction this time - probably b/c I don't have as much time to devote to meal planning (or money to just eat out because I feel like it!) I'm having a really hard time not eating nuts or peanut butter. Any ideas? |

New here..with medical issues!!
I found this forum this morning more out of desparation than anything else. Over the last year or two I have determined that I have a intolerance to sugar and chocolate....big time. I often get what I thought were cold sores, but turned out to be fungal infections. Also when I have sugar or candy, etc, I have severe stomach cramps, diarrhia, flu like symptoms, inflammed and bleeding gums. When I brush my teeth or have dental work done I bleed excessively, and one dentist had me do a blood clotting test a few years back. I have had tests done by gastroenterologists( colonoscopy and endoscopy)....I don't have celiac, and overall my large and small intestine are okay.
This past Saturday I went to a birthday party next door, and should not have done this, but I ate about a half cup of Breyers Butter Pecan ice cream. I knew I would have symptoms, but never thought it would be this bad. For the past 3 days, my lower back hurts so bad, that I can hardly get up out of bed or even roll over.(Pain likely caused by bleeding hemorrhoids that came on with this) I started probiotics 2 days ago, and feel some relief this afternoon. It has been almost a full week now....I need to learn how to overcome this problem, and am so happy to be here to learn. Can someone point me to the forum I need to get to? Hello again...
Hello everyone, I am starting Atkins today at around 275lbs. I'm afraid to step on a scale so this is a rough estimate. I've tried Atkins a few times with varying levels of success but it's been several years. My goal this time around is to lose 90-100 lbs. and keep it off with a healthy diet and frequent exercise. Now that I have 3 kids I want to see them all grow up. On my current path I probably will not live another 10 years so this is a matter of life and death in my opinion. Thanks in advance for all your support.

First Post
Ok, I'm starting today. I love meat and eggs, so maybe this will work for me. I need to lose about 25 lbs. The hardest thing will be the beer. The biggest question is about the coffee, I have read conflicting things about whether or not it is OK. |

@cosmicstargoat: I can't speak to the beer... but I didn't have any problems with coffee. I changed the way I was drinking it because it was ridicuously loaded with too many calories (my everyday was the Dunkin Donuts double cream, double sugar!) In fact, I just saw another thread in this forum about coffee drinking exclusively. Check it out.
A warm welcome to everyone! |
