Hello, lurker here.. just wanted to say hi and that I too lost 30+ lbs and then got so busy it was easier to eat as everyone else did. Now I feel like I've lost two years of my life and have noone to blame but myself. Ive been reading posts for the past three weeks and have gained so much inspiration that in 13 days Ive lost 9 lbs and it really shows! And this is not my first ,second , or even fifth time Ive started this diet...so it can be done. Thanks to everyone who posts... and I have gotten so many ideas from the food porn board that I spend more time looking then eating! Good luck everyone and try to remember that the unhealthy food your " dying for" wont make you happy (and you know it better than anyone!) and if you eat it you will just feel like crap about yourself later ( and why would you do that to yourself?) I need help!
I am really struggling to lose weight. I have always been the "big guy" throughout my life. Most people think I weigh a lot less than I do. I carry my weight well. I need to get things off my chest, so here it goes. Please be patient.
I am a former athlete with pretty good genetics. I was raised to eat more than enough because I was a growing boy and I needed food for energy. The bad habits start young don't they??? Needless to say, I still have those habits today and for some reason I can't break them. I try atkins, and for some reason I end up sabotaging myself somehow, someway. I have a endomorph body type, and like I said, pretty good genetics. From the waist down, very lean. Waist up, train wreck. In my eyes. I have a weight loss challenge with my younger brother. He weighs six pound less than I do, but he is leaner. More proportionate. We've been doing the challenge for 3 weeks. He has lost 8 lbs. Me, nada. I know I need more discipline, I have to completely cut out the alcohol. I have drinks every now and then, I think it doesn't hurt. Maybe it does. Any advice in this area would be helpful. Over the years, I've endured the teasing about my upper body. For those guys who aren't tone up top, you know the phrases. Everytime I hear them I cringe. My friends joke around with me, and I act like it doesn't hurt, but it stings. Only once have I taken my shirt off in public. I got teased so badly, I have never done it again. In fact, I don't go to the pool with the wife and kids. That's how bad I feel. I don't want to feel humiliated. I need help. I have seen people on this board losing a tremendous amount of weight. I need a sample atkins diet. I mean, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I got my blood work done the other day and the results were pretty good. BP 120/70, HDL 82, Trig 44. I work out all the time. Doc told me he has never seen an HDL that high. This may sound like a therapy session, and it kinda is. Do I need to write down what I eat? Do I need to be that discipline? I don't know. But with the amount of working out I do, I should be 220, which is my goal weight. Right now I am 289. Someone help. I have wasted years and and alot of emotion energy. |

i am looking forward to seeing the web site..... i have gained 10 kilos in the last 12 months. i believe i am carb sensitive as well as having Coeliac Disease. it is very difficult to do low carb (20 gms per day) for me. i was diagnosed with Coeliacs 4 years ago and gained 5 kgs over the next 3 years. no matter how much i exercise or watch what i eat the weight still goes on. i am trying low carb now. the problem i have is it is very difficult to find high protein shakes and bars here, in australia, that a low in carbs and gluten free. it would be great to hear from anyone in australia who has found a product.
i hope i have done this right..... my first time |

Hi All
Hello everyone, great site. Recovering alcoholic here.. 25+ years alcohol free.. but the sugar addiction started before the drinking. Carbs send me to the races, one cookie and it seems like the yeast goes wild. I have ate LC for several years, and lifes good until I take that first bite. This time I will consider the carbs as deadly as alcohol is to me. I started 10-26-09 at 197 and I weigh 189 now. I should weigh 165 - 170 my BS stays uner 95 when I eat LC and excercise.
That 30 lbs does not sound like allot looking at some of the stats,, but let me say It makes me sooo sick, just exhausted / wiped out all the time. I feel so good without sugar, carbs, and crap food. Thanks Rob |

Hi, I'm pretty new to this. Can anyone tell me what the ideal ratio of percentage of daily fats and carbs should be on Atkins? I'm on what I guess is the newer version? I went on ******.com today and was curious if I was anywhere near what it should be. Low Carb Friends is great by the way! Love it. BTW, I'm not following induction to the letter but am staying well below 30 g carbs daily and AM losing weight. Yay!

The more you know, the better!

Like you, I cheated in Induction and had too many shakes, bars, and did not eat enough veggies, too much cheese, etc. But that just didnt work for me because I needed the discipline and knowledge gained from Induction in order to move successfully into OWL. Im 13 pounds from goal weight, but without what I am learning in OWL, I dont think I could move into Pre-Maintenance. It all breaks down to what you know. |

Sugar Free Pancake Syrup?
My sugar free pancake syrup has a whopping 12 g of carbs per serving (1/4 cup)
. Do you have a favorite one that has less carbs? |

Oops, now I see those other grams are protected from being digested. I've heard you shouldn't overcook or reheat in order to avoid undoing this phenomenon. Do you "buy" this 5g of carbs claim? Last edited by MarcyDarcy; 12-12-2009 at 01:47 PM.. |

Been goofing around with all kinds of eating plans and screwing myself up going to start the Atkins as soon as I clear out the other foods I have for the other diets. I have a family reunion on Saturday to go to and after Christmas will start from the begining again.

new to the site
Hello,
I'm new to this site, just thought I would introduce myself as I plan to use this awesome tool you have all help make over the years. I'm 25 years old 6ft tall and started at 255lbs, lost about 50lbs in 2009 doing something like atkins 72. Still looking to lose about 20 more depending on muscle mass and fat loss timing, I'm satisfied at my current weight just not the body composition I am hoping for at this weight. I shoot for about 20 carbs a day including fiber and work out every weekday, I often struggle and therefore find my self slipping in and out of induction type eating and never really do much OWL type stuff. Fortunately I have my wife to make most of my meals for me as she eats the same thing I do, she is also a member of LCF and has been my crutch for the past year, I decided it might be good to have 2 cruches though. So here I am. Pardon my lingo, I havent read all of the atkins book and therefor may be mis-using terms. Anyway, I like low carb, feels good everyday and the food is the best of what the world has to offer, YAY MEAT. Thanks for being here and helping me hold myself accountable. |

Keto Sticks.
I wasn't really sure where to post this, I can't remember where I read it. I found a suggestion on cutting the keto sticks in half to save money and what a fantastic idea. Thank you dear soul for helping me out. |

Hello everyone,
My name is Corey and I'm a newbie to LCF. I'm 23 and I've had a problem with my weight since I was about 11. I can say that my problem is consistency. I just need to stick with healthy eating and exercising. With the start of the new year, I have a few goals: to lost 100 lbs by Christmas 2010 and get my body fat percentage under 15%. I think it's attainable with sheer determination. I'll be starting off with workouts that will include walk/running around my local lake, swimming, and late night gym sessions with my cousin. I can say I feel most inspired by my cousin who was able to lose 55 lbs in 5 months with keeping his carbs under 20 grams and strength training/cardio 5x a week. |

Hello. I'm so pleased to be onboard.
I've been low carbing for the last few months. I started off doing induction on the Atkins plan for 2 weeks then onto South Beach and LC Vegetarian which helped shed of the pounds a lot quicker. I have a 4 kilos to loose and seem to have reached a plateau ! |
