Maybe she can make up a name... like LCF Joseph or something. Then their last name wouldn't be plastered on the internet for all the world to see. They could alert the mail room of the hospital to know mail addressed to LCF Joseph would go to him. Just a thought.

Because AML attacks your bone marrow (from what I understand), survival rates are such: without a bone marrow transplant 50/50. With a bone barrow transplant 80/20. His two brothers are the most likely matches (1 in 4 odds). So, let's pray that one of his brothers can help him with this.

My ex husband's girlfriend is not at all graceful and is making things hard for me. She has informed me I am not allowed to touch my ex husband....apparently I touched his head as he wept over our child's bed without realizing it. I really don't have anyone here.. Joe is in Ohio and my mother/family don't touch one another and have a hard time showing compassion.
What a selfish selfish person...

My thoughts are still with you guys and I'd love to send a card if we can too.

Ohhhhh gosh. I can't imagine what this is doing to her. She really needs support, needs her EX to be there for her in many ways. This is their child. I hope his girlfriend lets up on her. She doesn't need this.

Continued prayers and good thoughts for the family.

How sad that she has to deal with that ungracious girlfriend at a time like this.

I live in Dallas and if Joseph is in Children's Hospital, it's right down the road from my office. I'm glad to help in any way to get cards or such to them. I'm mostly a lurker on the boards but I'd be honored to help Nani in any way I can. My husband's cousin's 2 yr old son is just finishing up 10 months of extentsive chemo and such at Children's. He was not expected to live through the night last July and now his blood work shows no sign of cancer. It's a terrific hospital with a wonderful, loving, supportive staff.

My brother is an AML survivor of 10 years now. The road ahead of them will be long, harder than anyone can even imagine, and there will be many low days....but the good news is that there is hope. They'll need good friends, encouragement, prayers and a shoulder to cry on. I don't know this family at all....but I know the disease and how it attacks the body. Please let her know our family will be praying for hers!

I'm so sorry to here that it is AML. But remember in any ratio, there is always the percentage that beat the disease. Only positive thoughts that he is with that group.

If you figure out a way to get cards to him, please let me know. I'd love to send him one. You might also ask her about her younger son. He may feel slighted if Joseph gets all this attention and he didn't get it. I know it sounds petty, but they are children.

Also, some people may want to send magazines or little gifts. If you could ask her what kinds of things they like, it would be helpful, too.

Thanks for keeping us updated EB.
