I read in your log today that neither brother is a match for a bone marrow transplant. I pray that Joseph never needs one.

Please let us know whent the blood drive and bone marrow registry are set up.

Continued prayers for Joseph's continued progress.

Lynn, the last box was so precious! You should see his room....he just loves it! So colorful and cheerful. He stops all the time and just looks at them all.

Please send them to my home address as Joseph is going to be out hopefully Friday for about a week, and then comes back but may be in a different room or ward. Thanks so much...please tell the kids how much Joseph has loved their cards!

How was the visit home? Hope things continue to look up with Joseph's health. My boys are 8 and 5 and they pray for Joseph every night before going to sleep. Hope to hear another good news update soon.

Just a little update.

Please remember us in thought and prayers tonight and tomorrow. Joseph's bone marrow aspiration is 8:30 tomorrow morning and will tell us whether he is in remission. This in turn will tell us whether we need to make the dangerous journey toward a bone marrow transplant. I am a wreck tonight. He will be admitted tomorrow for his next round of chemo, which I guess I have been avoiding thinking about while he has been home. It feels a bit like having to consciously walk back into hell. I am suffering more than Joseph is. He is doing fine, is cheerful, optimistic and matter of fact. I will be glad when this round is behind us.

thanks everyone for your continued prayers, support, text messages, cards, emails and all the things you are all doing to hold me up. I am so grateful. I miss being here with y'all and being "normal". I miss my SNARK buddies. Thinking of you often

I'm praying that Joseph's bone marrow aspiration went well, that he & you are feeling well, and that you get the good news that he is in remission. God bless you.

He's back in chemo starting today. Bone marrow biopsy results show definite remission. Now its decision time about whether to go with four more rounds of chemo or a transplant. A few studies showed a slightly better outcome with transplantation, some showed no better outcome. And the transplant itself is very risky. Its going to be a nail biter. He is in remission, but his type of cancer is extremely recurrent. Even with all this chemo he has a less than 50/50 chance of staying in remission for more than a year. The "favorable" odds portrayed by the Inversion 16 type of AML apparently isn't as "favorable" as my mother's heart imagined. It just gives him a 50/50 shot of staying in remission for a year. Negative factors pulling it to less than 50/50 are his WBC count at diagnosis (180,000...anything over 100,000 is a poor prognosis) and the fact he'd had spread to the central nervous system.

He's being a bit of a PITA today, very demanding, looking for presents and special treatment. And of course, he is entitled to a lot of understanding for the most part, but its gone a bit overboard. We are going to have a little chat about it tonight. But he is up and around, feeling well enough to be demanding and such, so I guess in a sense that is a good thing

Thanks so much for thinking of us!

I have Joseph's Caring Bridge site on my Links bar so I am reminded to pray "without ceasing" for him everytime I am online. I check out the journal often also. Hope all is going well for you.

I am no longer able to get into Joseph's site. I was in the process of filling out the form to register and got called away from my computer and it will not let me enter. I miss reading the updates, I hope he is doing well. Does anyone have any updates at all?
