Sheri,
My son has a collection of Pokemon cards and would like to send some to Joseph. He asked me if I thought Joseph would prefer cards that are interesting to look at (more plentiful) or good/powerful/rare cards (but fewer of them, of course) I was thinking it might be better to send several 'batches' of 10 or so at a time but I defer to your opinion. We are all pulling for you and Joseph. |

It makes my heart happy to hear that his fever is going down and he is well enough to be grouchy! I know Joseph likes Pokemon and is probably getting lots of trading cards; you say he doesn't want to play games. Does he like to do any artwork? Miles recently bought a paint by number and is enjoying working on it and it made me think maybe this weekend we could get out and look for an activity type gift for Joseph - maybe something like those velvet pictures you color with markers, or maybe even a paint by number.
Hope he continues to feel well enough to be grouchy! ![]() ![]()

What a relief to hear that his fever went down.
I hope that you get a night at home soon so you can get a good nights sleep in your own bed. Take care of yourself. ![]() |

what is today? Wednesday? Thursday? I think its Thursday, right?
Thursday update He is GREAT today. Eating. Playing. Talkative. Smilie. Big big hug and kiss for me when I got here. Energetic. Even getting out of bed to rummage (for the very first time) through the basket of toys and such that y'all have provided him with. Days like this it is hard to remember how ill he is. He's so cheerful today. |

![]() Nick and Alex put that whoopie cushion under me every chance they get. Funny thing is, it never goes off..and they always get perturbed and ask me to sit down again. Or to move. Or move and cover my eyes. Now sit here Mommy. *perturbed when it doesn't go off* and on and on....until I finally refuse to sit again. I think I have such a well cushioned ass that I am whoopie-cushion proof. A whoopie cushion forcefield. |

The XGF is a bit of a drama queen, but I had a long talk with XH and he in turn talked to her and she is doing a better job of being supportive but staying in the background. I think, though, that it is driving her crazy to do so.
She quit her job over Joseph being ill, which makes no sense to me. She's only known my son for seven or eight months. She's been sick this week and seems to get sick a LOT and I admit I get skeptical and think its a ploy for attention. That's probably mean spirited of me. She asked me if it is okay if she refers to herself as the children's stepmother. This skeeves me to no end and I told her so, but also told her I understand in this situation its probably easier and more economical to say rather than telling folks Joseph is her boyfriend's son. However, I think she doesn't like saying it that way because it underlines that she is not really on the inside circle and she desperately wants to be. She very much seemed to want this to be she and Stewart holding vigil over Joseph, going through this crisis together and nursing him back to health. She is getting over that now I think. On the good side, she is trying. She gave me a lovely card and a book about mothers and sons. We have had several conversations that seemed to go well and are communicating better. She keeps trying to use this as a way to get her point across on some of the stuff I had issue with before Joseph got ill and I kind of resent that. I definitely resent her presence at a time like this. Again, mean spirited and small of me. She's been a crucial part of the team, she is good to my kids, Joseph does not mind her taking shifts up here and her shifts up here have given both Stewart and I very needed breaks from being here. I am trying to get rid of my hostility. I think it is inappropriate at a time like this. But its hard. I just resent a person who has only known my son for seven months being so involved in this and so eager to represent herself as a permanent part of his life. I think frankly I am focusing a lot of anger over his illness and some of the changes in my life that I would like to do over...onto her. I'm going to work hard to be a better person in this arena. The only one I can change is me. |

I am just tickled pink to hear how well Joseph is feeling! Miles just walked in and wondered why I was smiling so big, lol! I had told him about Joseph earlier today, and just told him that he is having a great day - Miles got a very large smile on his face and said that was wonderful news.
Prayers are continuing. |
