our inlaws bought us a plot as part of the family plot - the gift that keeps on giving. Or we could be buried in my family's plot. DH wants cremated and then flushed. He wants a "flushing ceremony" and then a party. I want all my usable bits taken out, a nice service, then a kick ass party. I have a few hymns and verses I'd like sung/read, but the rest is up to the survivors to plan.

Well, I think Armageddon will be coming soon, so even if I did have plans they would be no good cuz nobody would be left to bury me or cremate me.

My intent is to have 1) a living will just in case something tragic happens so family doesn't have to make a difficult decision for me 2) a will so that my belongings are equally shared with those I love 3) my organs donated (assuming mine will be healthy) and 4) cremated and my ashes divided and given to my children (again, assuming they want my ashes) 5) what ever is left of me, given back to the earth that brought me into this world.

We attended a small gathering in Custer, South Dakota a few years back, a gathering of all types of people, sponsored by some Native American groups. It was a WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL experience, a full week of meeting together, like-minds, those concerned with the future of this earth we live on.
They have a ceremony at the beginning of the gathering where people bring the ashes of their loved ones who have passed and pour them into the ashes at the gathering's camp fire. At the end of the gathering, those who wish can partake of the ashes from the camp fire, take them home for the year, and return them back to the gathering if they wish to. Those who travel to other gatherings take those ashes with them, and mingle them there at that gathering, taking them back home again at the end of the event. That's where I want to be. It would feel wonderful to know that I am traveling perhaps the world, and being a part of something wonderful still.

I have told everyone that if they put on a show I will haunt thier asses! (Altho if they want to play "ymca" and "baby got back" at the drunken happy wake Ok by me!) M |

Yikes. Thought this would be a potty question.
When I go for good - I would like a brief memorial service to celebrate my life, with plenty of great music. And I want to be cremated. (But first I want any part of me that can be used for science or to save a life removed) |

Why would I care? I'd be dead.
Seriously. My husband and I will be cremated (I don't want anyone looking at my dead body.) Should he survive me, he can put "me" wherever he wants...perhaps a part in the ocean, a part in the garden... I am an organ donor, but I 'magine mine wouldn't be prime for transplantation. Maybe my eyes. |

Besides all the legal papers, I have written letters to my daughters and my husband and put with our important papers telling them how much I love them and what was special to me about each of them and what I hope for their future. Example, I wrote to my husband that I hope he finds someone someday, etc. etc.
I also, found a form online (I think google "when someone dies") that asks all the questions about funeral arrangements. There is info on closing accounts, things like that. I started on all these things after my mother died and we didn't have very much information. |

Just a note to those that want their ashes scattered and stuff. It is illegal in most places. My mother wanted her ashes scattered and we couldn't find a way to do it. We buried her ashes in the Hershey Cemetary
I want to donate all of my organs...except my eyes. I know someone might need them but to me the "eyes are the windows to the soul" and I don't want anyone to have them. I want to be cremated. BUT...if I go at a young age...I want DH and my sisters to do what is best for them. I think DH would deal better with the whole layed out thing. I'll be dead...want them to do what they want.

I never thought I would want to be creamated, but when my dad recently passed, I talked to the funeral home owner about different options, and DH and I decided that cremation might be what we'd want. Take me to the beach and sprinkle me there.
Well, we mentioned it to DS a few weeks ago. Big mistake! The idea did not go over well at all. When DD came home we talked to her about it. She is usually my free-spirited, "do whatever makes you happy" child. I thought she would be fine with it. Wrong! Her immediate response was, "That would be a big 'HELL NO'." Who knew they would be so strongly opposed??? ![]() |

They probably won't. Just saying it is sometimes hard for family to carry out that wish. My mother wanted her scattered from a plane...couldn't find a pilot that would do it. Depends on when and where. I wasn't saying you can't do it or shouldn't do it. |
