You probably need to add potassium to your diet for the leg cramps. By way of a supplement or thru the foods you eat. I just suffered a severe cramp in my calf this week. Here's a couple of limks I've found that will give you good information. Hope you figure out what works for you. I know how painful these can be.

OUCH!

OUCH!! Charley horse...

I agree with Carey on the potassium, although you might want to check your calcium too. (She says sneaking back into the thread with her tail between her legs...)

So...um...see I sent this innocent update about my custody stuff (it's over for those who didn't see it), and I get these wonderful responses...and Nikki tells me I'm still a Delta member (Deltoid? Deltian? Hmmm?) even though I went AWOL last time... I'm too late to join in (and I'm honestly not ready, I'm one of those people who have to prepare - get in the right mental head space and get all the right stuff IN the house and the wrong stuff OUT before I can dive in). My plan was to start back on plan on 1/1, but maybe cheerleading here and seeing how you guys are doing will help keep me inspired and I won't back down on my promise to myself...if you'll have me back....

WELCOME HOME

EUPHRATES

It's great to see you back. I think you're going to make a fantastic cheerleader, agony aunt, and most of all friend to everyone here in Delta: why because you never pretend to be perfect; you have been there, done that and not only bought the T. shirt, but recycled it as well.

thanks for the responses everyone..

cary i checked out the sites...thanks
i have tryed the soap thing for a couple s of nights now..
not helping me though...what exactly in quinine water? never heard of it..my daughter gets leg cramps from running track..she eats 2 bananas and drinks plenty of water everyday and still gets them.. her trainer told her to get more salt into her system...he said she could be flushing it out by drinking so much water..
when i was a kid i remember my father taking salt tablets..he had a big old box of them..i dont even think they exist any more...the salt does not sound healthy to me...any comments anybody? thanks, colette

Checking in...

Good news; my water weight's abating. Man, I'm glad. My butt is the Hoover Dam. <snort>

I got my hair cut into a new style on Friday. It looks *so* much better than the avatar. DD and I are gonna have a streaking day some time this week (blonde highlights, people, it's too cold for the other kind of streaking), and then I'm gonna retake the avatar pic, I think. I use the same one on MSN and my own mother told me immediately after we both got hair cuts that I needed to dump it!

And along those lines... my mother did Atkins with me, and reached goal a few months back. In fact, she's now 7 pounds *below* goal (she's having a hard time convincing herself to eat more carbs). She's now at 123... which is the same amount of weight I've lost. She told me the other day that I've lost my mother. <heheheh>

Exercise is going well, and so is eating. I've also been back at thrift shopping; Jann, you'd be proud of me. I've scored some really good deals at garage sales and thrift stores, lately. DH and DD have gotten into the act, too, and every Saturday morning is now garage sale day. (We also sell stuff on Ebay when we find things.) Heck, I'm dressed for church right now, and everything I'm wearing cost me under $3!

Carey, Eu--hey, cheerleaders! It's great to have you here, ladies, regardless of why you're here.

Amen on DRINK YOUR WATER... it makes a big difference; not only in shedding pounds, but in your skin, your hair, how you feel. Remember, that's how your body sheds the majority of its toxins, so drink up! I also echo Carey's recommendation on potassium, and add to it that calcium and magnesium can also help with cramps. Skip potassium supplements; they're not enough to help. Go for a light salt; 1/4 tsp can provide more potassium than a supplement. Also, if you've been exercising, lactic acid buildup from exercising can cause cramps; make sure you do an adequate cool down period after exercising. Jump in a hot tub if one's available. Both serve to dispel lactic acid.

Chewtoy, IW--congrats on the losses!!! Chewtoy, let me just add that I love your name. Sometimes I feel like a chewtoy... I've got a mini schnauzer who thinks my wrist tastes better than anything.

Stilkltryin: Quinnine water is also called Tonic Water if that helps. On the question of the salt, here is my personal take on it. The normal Western diet is full of salt far more than is healthy for us to consume. However, salt is still an essential part of any diet, and if through drinking vast amounts of water you flush out the salt etc, then replacing it is very important. Or to put it another way, why were soldiers issued with salt tablets, when on duty in tropical climates where the salt from their bodoes was sweated out ttrough the pores in the skin. Oh and why are cattle given salt blocks to lick in the summer?

LTFS: Hey I never knew that you were also into getting bargains, through what you call garage sales and we call boot sales, I've also picked up a few bargains on ebay in my time. Though my favourite way to bargain shop is through the Charity shops. Last week I picked up a brand new crock pot for £2.50. It was still in it's packaging!

A_24_Carat_Lady:

2lb to go till you reach goal. My question to you is this. Are you ready?

Good Afternoon Everyone.

DEB- and 14 days till ya see your sweetie Love ya girl.

Guys/Gals-I am having the roughest time on plan. I was always a NONNNNNNNNNNNN-cheater. And the past few months i've lost the spunk.
Everyday, i wake up, it's a new day....and sometimes I 'make it', sometimes I don't.

On day TWO of restart, AGAIN. I've started to journal and see what the heck the difference is, between a year ago and today.

I refuse to gain weight back...refuse....so, let's hope that I can say tomorrow is DAY 3, and so on.

Deb: Only 14 days till you see your fella! Is the time dragging or has it sped up because you want to get so much done before you see him? Is he coming to see you or are you going over there?

Bree: Hang on in there; we are all rooting for you. I went through, or to be honest I am still going though a rough patch, where my wol is concerned. I went for nearly a year without cheating then all of a sudden I start to wing it, change my eating habits just for the sake of it. Someone suggests something and I've got to try it. Another person says don't eat that try this, so I give up eating the first recommendation and switch to the second. So for the past few weeks I have lurched from taking cinnamon, to doing Kimkin's, then onto carb cycling, then South Beach. I have well and truly messed up. However this challenge and being team leader is helping me focus on what is right for me. I have to stay cheat free my weight, my life, my sanity depend on it. So I know what you're going through because I'm right there with you. I will never be the type of leader that leads through shining example. NO I'm the leader who lurches along with their team mates, helping prop up and support those who are failing, but equally ready to accept help when I need it too.

I just made the best coffee drink, I looked back to December of last year when I was first starting (for the last time, lol) and I had just whipped up some cream and put it in my coffee with a little KETO COCOA.

Well, tonight, I whipped up the cream, added a little English Toffee DaVinci's and YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morning everyone!! Yanno.. what happened to some of the companies? I belonged to Alpha last time and now I don't even see them listed this go around. Whud up wid dat??

Well, I hoppity hopped on the scale this morning and I'm rather discouraged. Not that I'll do something stupid like eat non legal foods, but hell. I've not lost a pound in 4 days.

I'm at 302.0 and i guess I can count the half pound because on Friday, it was 302.5. I dunno. Setch a bummer.

maybe I need to up the carbs again. I'm not hungry so I don't eat a lot.

blast it. work calls. i'll be back shortly.

Today starts a meat fast for me. The water weight isn't dropping as quickly as it should, and the *real* weight hasn't moved in over a month, so I'm gonna try to shake things up for a few days. Munching on a tasty pork chop for breakfast right now. I've already done my cardio for the day on elliptical and will go back for weight lifting this afternoon.

Neeta, I know what you mean about watching the companies fold--I wish there were more, but know how it is when it comes to challenges. I'm glad there are so many still participating!

stilltryin--yard sales go on year-round, here. I didn't realize it until I started going to lots of them this year. I count myself lucky!

Have a good day, everyone.

Hi guys, sorry I didn't post much last week

I started Body For Life and joined a yahoogroup for women about it, and let me tell you, don't mention you do LC or they will eat you up! I don't post my menus or I would hear about my high fat and "no carbs" I have been changing a few of my items I eat, however, and have added in a half cup of BROWN RICE and OMG I had half a sweet potato today.. I feel like I sinned as both were so good and I haven't had them in almost 2 years..

I dunno what my weight is doing as I have hid the scale and will be going by how my jeans fit.. oh please let this not screw me up...

One great thing is that I got a new haircut Friday and color/highlights!

hi everyone! Haven't posted for a few days, but I've been checking in. Think I had a stomach bug over the last few days. I hate being sick, especially if I have any nausea. My stomach is still feeling yucky, but otherwise I'm better.

I'll try to check in again later today.
