Love the pics Tracie!!!
Nikki I have sent you my stats,,,, think someone hid the tape measure!! I'm struggling a bit with my WOE at the moment,,,I feel all deprived which is mad I know. Want to know what I'm missing most??? Veggies,,,how weird is that!! I guess because its so cold here at the moment I'm fed up with salad but find if I eat too many veggies I stall. I knew the last 10lbs would be hard to shift but didn't realise just how slow they would come off. I'm all confused about the different opinions on the main board too about lowering the fat as you get nearer to goal,,, I don't want to do low fat,,,thats why I chose Atkins! My DH is folowwing Atkins too and since the new year seems to have a different mind set which is great and he's down 6lbs in under 2 weeks. Have a good day all, Lorraine ![]() |

TracieN-Those pics are great!!!
stilltryin-great job on the pilates!! I have a dvd of winsor pilates, but I haven't done them yet. kisses41-That's a bummer you are feeling deprived. even worse that it is a good food you are missing! I'm not sure about lowering fat, I think I do naturally eat less fat than I did when I started but I don't try to keep it low, and I'm not sure how much my actual percentage changed, if it even has. I don't ever want to have to worry about that either, though I know some have said that was the only way they could lose the last bit.I had the worse time last night!! I think I figured out some of the reason why though...TOM is on it's way. I should've realized that a little sooner. I broke down and had 2 oz of cream cheese with DaVinci's and ate it REALLY slowly. That did help take the edge off and I think ketosis is finally kicking in today. So I'm going to just keep on doing what I have been the last few days. My bloating is down and I feel so much better!! I'm hoping I feel as good tonight, at least the cream cheese is gone. I do have sf rootbeer and cream if I break again, but I'm hoping I can go without. My weight hadn't changed, and I was kinda starting to freak about that to until I remembered about TOM.I hope you are all having a great day!! Stay Strong!! ![]()

Hi, all, checking in...
I'm doing well. Food's good, exercise is kickin' right now. I'm on the downward slide in weight for the month--I only lose about 8-10 days out of each month. I'm *hoping* this is the month I make it below 200! It's so close, I can feel it. Jax, Kisses--I didn't realize how close both of you are to goal! Congrats on a job well done, and I hope to be in your spot this time next year! Kisses, what veggies are you missing? You might be able to add in a few slowly, ala Atkins OWL, and see how your body handles them. Unless, of course, you're talking about evil spuds. Mary, I work from home--I know what you mean about isolation and overeating. That was the first demon I had to conquer; in the early days, I was fine if I was out and about, but at home? Alone? I'd want to roam through the fridge. Have a good day, everyone!

Things are stressful for me right now. DBF has still not found a job and his construction work just isn't working. I have maintained my 248 pounds but I know if I practice portion control I would lose. I have been eating way too much...still low carb but too much food. So my goal is to eat in proper portions.
Have a great day all, mel |

Good morning,
how is everyone today?? Sorry to hear life is so stressful for you right now Melody hope things get better soon. How's the portion control going? I have the same problem! Enjoy your dwonward slide LFTS!! Fingers crossed that you get below 200. Jax well done on the restraint!! I have been known to eat mountains of legal food when TOM is on his way!! Nikki, are you all excited??!! Is Ethel arriving this morning or this afternoon?? Hope you all have lots of fun settling the new member of the family in! Dumb question of the day, I should know this but I can't find my copy of DANDR anywhere,,I think I lent it to the MIL (fat lot of good that did!!) Can I replace my salad with veggies for a few day? Or is salad compulsory? I have most veggies (noooooo not potatoes!!) so I don't really miss many but I miss the quantity if that makes sense? Just wondering if I can up the veggies and cut the salad ?? I do like salad but just feel like I've been overdosing on it a bit. Our local supermarket has now got a huge range of low carb food (discovered this last night on an emergency trip for greek yogurt!!) Its all quite expensive and most of it I wouldn't waste my money (or carbs!!) on,,, but its nice to know its there if we need it. Personally I wish there were no frankenfoods whatsoever,,, I feel a bit that the low carb market is becoming like the low fat one and if people abuse this WOE too much they will all be going round saying it doesn't work !Have a nice day all, Lorraine xx |

Kisses, depending on alot of things (like the version and if you are finished with 2 wk induction) you should be able to replace your salad with veggies. I rarely eat salad myself (even during induction), and usually sub 1/2 c. lo-carb veggies for 1c. salad. I pretty much stick to broccoli, cauliflower or green beans, but that is just my preferences. Sometimes I will just have a dill pickle with my meal instead of a salad. I think it is a good way for you to move on with the plan, and find out what works for YOU. Some people can eat more veggies than me right away off induction. Take it slow and see how it goes after a few days. I hope that helped you.
I don't use many of the lo-carb processed foods anymore. I tried a few of them, and it's kind of like lo-fat stuff IMO. There are ALOT of chemicals added to some of that stuff...YUCK. If I can, I try to make my own and only buy what I have to (like BBQ sauce). And some foods, well if I'm going to eat it, I'm just going to eat the regular version instead. Like ketchup, I use maybe a Tbsp a month, not worth getting or making a lo-carb version for me. Melody-good luck with your goal, I know that is harder than it sounds. Hope things start going your way!! LFTS & Kisses, thanks for the nice comments. Patti, Nikki, MaryMary,NuttyNeeta, & stilltryin- Hi! hope things are going ok with you all!! ![]() I am STILL struggling some with cravings, usually only in the evenings. I am doing ok tho. It is so COLD here right now...with the wind chill it is -34 and actual I think is like -12? All I want to do is burrow into a blankie and munch in front of the tv. Hope you all have a great day and weekend! |

Hi, everyone! Sorry I disappeared for a bit - life got hectic since we had the boys for the whole week after Christmas. I can best describe it through a literary quote: "It was the best of times. It was the worst of times." I wouldn't have traded it for anything, but boy was it challenging to have all 4 kids in the house sometimes. Plus both the boys have so many issues right now, the battles were rough. Spent the next week trying to rest and get ready to go back to work (I was on vacation until 1/7), and then I STARTED SCHOOL!! I am absolutely happy right now, even if I may have overloaded myself a bit (2 pretty involved sciences with labs are going to take a lot out of me). Panicked a bit the first day in the chemistry class until I went home and studied a bit, and the stuff I knew so well 20 years ago started coming back. So I'm feeling a lot more confident than I did. I LOVE BEING IN SCHOOL!!! That may change around mid-term time, but right now I'm lovin' life!
I started doing South Beach on 1/1, and as of 1/14 my "induction" periond (they call it phase 1) is over, and I've lost 12 lbs. I'm EXTREMELY happy with that! I can add in more carbs now, but I'm going to be EXTREMELY careful and selective on how I do it. I will tell you, this plan scared me at first because it's a lot less structured than Atkins, but I'm finding it pretty easy and comfortable now. So, so far so good. I haven't been exercising yet - I am still getting used to working (full-time) and going to school (full time), and trying to figure out when to see my kids and family, so I'm going to give myself a few weeks to get into a routine of sorts, and then figure out where I can fit it in. My Anatomy & Physilogy Lab professor is also a physical therapist and fitness instructor - she works 2 other jobs besides teaching, and has 2 kids. I plan on asking her how she does it. ![]() So, that's my check in. Hopefully the dust is settling and I'll be a more regular poster now! Eu

Ethel our rescue dog has settled in well. Right now she is fast asleep on the sofa. For me diet is going well and I have lost another 2lb. This means I'm now back to my challenge start weight.
Life is very hectic right now, so my time here has been severely curtailed. I will post as often as I can though. Nikki |

Hi all, I stayed the same this week, but I guess with all the LC milk I'm drinking due to my stomach trouble I should expect that. Other than that I'm ok I guess but this stomach pain is driving me nuts.

Patti-
Sorry to hear that you still are having troubles. Why are you drinking milk? Hope you are feeling better soon!! I did pretty well last night, watched that movie "Without a Paddle". It was pretty good. I did eat SUNFLOWER SEEDS, but I hardly ate yesturday...my physical cravings/hunger finally seems to be gone. I am down a few pounds but measurement wise it seems to be more. I must have REALLY been bloated. Anyways, my jeans fit right again so I am happy.Hope you are all having a great week!! ![]() |

HI Jax, I'm drinking Carb Countdown milk because it's the only thing that makes my stomach stop hurting for even 15 minutes. Nothing I do is helping and it's ruining my WOE, I can't even drink water like I should, so as soon as I can I'll go to the Dr. Last time I was treated for this I had a reaction to the meds, so now I'm afraid to have meds again, but it hurts too much to leave it alone. Thanks for asking. I'll let you know what happens.

Hi everyone!
How are you feeling Patti? Did you get to the doctor yet? Have you maybe tried having some yogurt instead of the milk? Ooooh I do hope you feel better soon. I'm still on track but not weighing this week cos TOM is hiding round the corner!! I added some exercise this week,, I'm too embarrassed to tell you just how little I did before collapsing on the floor in a heap but hopefully the more I do the longer I will be able to last! The lovely Nikki has a belly dancing dvd for me,,,he he!! The men of the house can't wait for it to arrive,,lol!! Hope everyone is feeling positive and not too cold! Lorraine ![]() |

stilltryin, I hope your son is feeling better now! ![]() I ate off plan yesturday. I didn't prepare well for a busy day and there were homeade cc cookies calling for me. They were made with splenda, so that helps right? Anyway, I'm shopping today and hopefully gonna be able to stock up good for the next week. I'm still feeling positive, because I have been giving myself a star for each on plan day and I have alot of on plan days already this month, so for me. It sounds cheesey I know, but normally I would just bail out after doing something stupid like yesturday. The stars remind me it's not a total wash if I mess up, just to try to do better the next day.Well, I don't know where everyone is. I hope you are all doing well and taking care of yourselves!! ![]() Last edited by jax93 : 01-20-2005 at 04:54 AM. |

HI everyone,
I'm feeling a bit better by sucking down malox. I missed Curves today but I'll go on Friday. TOM started ( like I didn't feel crappy enough) but still better than a couple days ago. Thank you for asking. Still on plan but too much LC milk still.. but trying my best! |
