I'm in too!!! And an idea.

I'm excited to try this - I;'e been doing really well on low carbs and fairly low calories for a couple months but in the last week even though I'm not hungry I have horrible cravings - hope this helps!

I got a rottiserie chicken the other day and after taking most of the meat off the bone I boiled the rest, then removed all skin, bones, fat, etc and it made a really good broth. Nothing in it but cooked down chicken bones and some pepper. For lunch I warmed up the broth and added some shredded chicken - delicious. There shouldn't be carbs in this broth right???

I'm in too! I have been floundering for awhile. I lost 75 pounds doing strickly the new Atkins, which I started in January of 2003. I never cheated once, and I drank nothing but water for 9 months. I was a carb nazi...lol. And then diaster hit. I had a hysterectomy in May of 2003, in December of that same year, My father was hit by a falling tree, in ICU for months, and almost died. In April of last year, the floor of my house had to be jackhammered open and I lived in a hotel for 2 months, among other things. I ended up gaining back up to 300 where I am today. I started at 340, so I am NOT going any higher. It just seems that the old plan isn't working for me. I can't get into good ketosis, and I am not losing as easily as before.

Kimmer, can you tell me how long it is safe to do the meat fast? I still have over 100 pounds to lose. Anything below 200 would be good for me, as I'm 5'11...lol. I was a size 10 at 180 pounds. I would love to lose about 50 before September, cause we're going to Disney World. I want to be able to do EVERYTHING with my kids.

I KNOW what to do, but it seems like it's so hard to do it. I"m going to try this plan for whatever amount of time everyone thinks it's safe...or until I cannot stand it anymore...lol. ARe there any extras other than meat? Is diet coke okay? Mayo I have read is okay. Anything else? My problem is I am a night eater. I want to munch on something while I'm in bed watching tv..bad, I know...lol.

Anyone know how it affects exercise? Not that I do alot...lol..but wondering.

Whoever reposted this thread..thanks..I'm hoping it's the kick in the butt I need.

ETA...Kimmer, what do you think about the idea that your body needs a certain amount of calories a day. My basal calorie consumption is around 2100 calories a day, but I'm almost positive I have a low thyroid...though the dr. tells me no. My temp is never over 97.5. What is your take on "starvation mode", or "eskimo mode"?

The very best choice you could have made! And think of the gelatin and goodness from the carcass.

I love homemade chicken broth!

As everyone transitions to other plans after the Experiment, you could just add a few LC veggies to that broth for an awesome chicken soup (I add julienned spinach to mine!)

Good job!

The meat fast is actually a disguised version of Stillman's, devised by Dr. Stillman, a medical doctor. He said it was safe until you're close to goal, keeping in mind that the weight loss is so rapid you're on only on the plan for a few months at most and your body can take a nutritional hit from a veggie vacation for that long.

However, adding a few small servings of veggies isn't going to slow you down a great deal ... assuming it's not caloried-up with cheese, cream or lots of butter. Honestly, it won't slow you down.

At 5'10" your body burns more calories than someone who's 5'3" anyway and you'll be down 50 pounds way before September (think Memorial Day!) BTW, that's not just for the tall people!

Starvation Mode? You're too young to know what I think about it. Sorry ... we just had a large thread about it and I'm too exhausted to do it over again, LOL! Search for the thread or I'll post it if I find it.

You'll do wonderfully, especially when the "no appetite" kicks in. Think of the energy you'll have for your kids!

Thanks, Kimmer, I'll look for that thread. You're such a doll to answer everyone so tirelessly. Do you really think it's possible to lose so much so fast when I've been doing this SOOOO long? And with thyroid and hormone issues as well? (I take NO hormones after a complete hysterectomy).

I'm looing forward to trying this, and if it works, I'm going to fly to California and kiss you!

I haven't, but others may post. BTW, if you do "protein only" for 3-5 days, you won't need any appetite suppression aids ... your appetite disappears!

Assuming you don't cheat? Fasten your seatbelt, you'll lose at warp speed!

Thank you for your nice words!

Regarding the thyroid and hysterectomy issues, chances are you may need to eat less overall, that's just the way it goes (or, as Dr. Phil says, "You have to play the cards you're dealt.")

I'm in the same boat (minus the hystero) and my thyroid was WAY off without medication ... even now it's not normal, but better.

BTW, everyone's remembering to take a Centrum type vitamin and drinking plenty of water, diet soda or Crystal Light?

You bet! Honestly, if you stay with protein maybe add small amounts of LC veggies later on ... you will be astounded by how fast you lose! It's nothing short of amazing. Simply amazing.

If you get bored and want to read, check out old threads for "3 Day Experiment" or "LCMW" for very impressive results.

Hey Lisa, when did I agree to no drama?

Yes, as much as you like ... so long as you don't cheat with anything non-protein.

So, if I've read through all these posts properly, i'm basically reading that if I just ate meat & eggs, for 7 months, I could lose 50 pounds too? My doctor would die of a heart attack if I told him I wasn't going to eat veggies.

What do you cook your meat in, to reduce the fat?
What do you put on your meat for flavor?

Well, I suppose that would be easy to do, but I just got lab work back that said my bad cholesterol was through the roof, and my total cholesterol is up. And that my white blood count was up and that I had liver dysfunction

My guess is, he'll want me on a low fat diet with lots of veggies.

7 months? Try 2.5-3 months.

Cook the meat as you like, flavor with whatever (hold up on the ketchup), skip the cheese for right now.

The experiment isn't sexy, but ... fasten your seatbelts!

50 lbs in 3-months. I'am to excited. Its taken me 7- months to lose 66 lbs.

For the women I went to the Avenue store they have large and tall sizes for woman and they had girdles that come up right under your bra. I had to have one they are one of the greatest inventions. This is my trouble spot. I like these alot better than the bra hook ones that hook in front of and squeeze you to death.
Hey does anyone know how I can turn my img on?test[/IMG]
