It works!

I just did this very thing for the last few days, my carbs had been creeping up and my cravings and hunger were getting out of control and I have not been losing very fast.

Time to get some of this baby weight off!

So I went back to lean proteins, some low carb veggies but watched portions, still ate a little yocheese with mac nut oil too, but kept my overal carbs less than 15 probably.

I have to say the first three days were torture with being hungry, but I pushed on through because I knew it was just my glycogen reserves being depleted and getting ready to go into "real" ketosis. I actually felt really sick the third day from not taking extra potassium but felt better a few hours after taking some extra. I am still nursing and that happens to me sometimes.

Well the 4th day I woke up a new woman, NOT hungry, NOT craving, good amount of energy, etc. But still no loss.

I remembered what Kimmer said about it takes 3-4 days for what you are doing to show up on the scale so I kept it up. Now I was in ketosis, ate to appetite and felt great.

I can't say how many calories since I don;t do Fitday but I probably had less than 1000. But I was satisfied with the food I ate and I could literally feel myself burning fat.

Well the next morning I woke up at 130.4!!!!

This is an all new low for me after having this third baby, and I am thrilled and feel fantastic.

Thank you Kimmer!

The idea of the 3 day experiment is to show what 'real' ketosis feels like. Keep in mind that if someone is carbed-up (especially if they do it on purpose), they may need 5 days to get rid of the excess glycogen in their liver.

After you're in ketosis, GRADUALLY slip into the LC program of your choice. Naturally, the fewer carbs the better the loss. Lower calorie choices will provide faster loss than higher calories.

BUT ... you want to make it livable for your lifetime. Any of us can fall back on pure protein to make up for a lax weekend. You're harming your body when you assault it with sugar (carbs) ... which, chances are, aren't coming from nutritious, high antioxidant sources ... more like good 'ol comfort food.

I'd forgotten about this thread, LOL.

Kimmer- when you first did this, how long before you were 20 lbs. from goal? Sorry I just found this thread and it sounds very interesting. Just don't know if I can do it.

To do what? The 3 Day Experiment? It's a snap ... eat all the pure protein you want for 3 days (no need to be hungry), but don't cheat.

Some people have never experienced what I term 'real' ketosis with the strong appetite suppression (OK, nausea) and very rapid weight loss. This is a chance to see what it's like.

Warning - not everyone likes the feeling, even if you're losing faster than scientifically possible (per the 3500 calorie deficit = equals 1 pound theory).

I lost 160 pounds in 7 months, then took 3 months to do the last 20. Over the past 3 years I've lost a few more to equal 200 lbs total.

Abbymommy, do you think it's OK to be in ketosis while nursing? In one interview Dr. Atkins said "yes" then in another interview he said "no". Glad you're enjoying the loss!

Yes! Tea, coffee, diet drinks ... enjoy!

And it is easy. Very.

Then, afterward if you add 2 cups of salad type veggies (save the butternut squash for later), you'll be doing 1972 Atkins.

I lost 3 pounds but in the end I enjoyed every bite of my salad LOL. I was not hungry at all but made myself eat due to feeling nausiated. I had dreams of watermelon any way I have opted to balancing things out with protein and lc veggies good luck everyone

How much weight loss can be expected?

This sounds so AMAZING! I've been a slow loser on induction and think the 3 day experiment is just what I need! Now, I'll start tomorrow first thing, I've already had about 10 carbs today. But, in one of the posts I saw Kimmer post 50 pounds of weight loss in 7 weeks...... WEEKS? If this is right then I am DEFINITELY trying it out! I'd love nothing better than to lose 40-50 pounds by July... what do you think??? Is this amount of weight possible with this plan? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! I am so excited to start!

No, for the 3-5 days, skip the extra fats (cheeses). When you begin switching to a LC plan, watch the cheese as the calories really add up quick!

Regina, it sounds like you were hitting ketosis. Many people post the identical symtoms on Atkins Induction ... tired, headache, foggy. That's the sugar leaving your system. Do what's right for you!

I'm doing something similar starting today.

I've never been in ketosis. At least not enough to register on the stix. Today I'm having only eggs. I plan on adding some meat tomorrow. I'll continue until I (hopefully) show some shade of purple. Ever heard of someone not being able to get into ketosis anyone? Kimmer?

Virtually impossible not to if your carbs are cut to the bone.

You seem open to experimentation , how about trying 3-5 days and see when the euphoria hits? During that time is when you will swear you feel your body fat melting ... honest!

BTW everyone, no alcohol!

Cant wait for that!

Kimmer I have been getting less than 20 grams for a month, but my loss has slowed way down....could be the cream in my coffee or the cheese....so I am trying this to see whats going on with me. I have been strict with induction, no franken foods...but I guess I need a jump start or something

Yeah, dairy sounds innocent but the choices on LC are essentially fats with double the calories of protein or carbs. I love cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, heavy cream and butter as much as the next person, but at 100 calories per miniscule serving ...

Keep in mind that calories count, not just carbs. It's possible to eat only 17 carbs if you ate 3 cups of mayonnaise (ewwww!) But check out that 5000 calorie count!

And that wouldn't even include the protein you'd eat throughout the day (not that you'd want to eat anything after downing a glass of mayo, LOL!)

But you see the point.

Enjoy the Experiment people!

95% of the time I just eat meat! I only eat veggies or a salad if I go out to dinner. I usually eat out about twice a week. SO Yeah, most of the time I eat meat. It is so simple!! I just make whatever protein I want for dinner, and make enough for lunch the next day! I have never been a big breakfast person, so I basically eat tow large meals a day. I am NEVER hungry! I dont feel the need to snack or anything! I LOVE IT!! Thank you for the compliment!!!

Ok, I wasn't planning on eating like this, but since my day has only amounted to eating protein, i'll give it a go. We are in the middle of moving and I am not very hungry anyway.

Today I ate about 12 oz. of Bacon (probably less after cooked)
and 2 hamburgers they did have cheese. I'm not hungry at all is that enough food for the day???
