I feel fine after eating! I sipped the chicken broth after heating it on the stove. It didn't taste all that wonderful but it did make me feel better. The eggs were great, too. I've since had a baked bnls chicken breast and all is well with that also. i'm going to make a conscious effort not to eat chemicals. Still toying with *Stillkins* or Kimmer's LCMYWAY which I really enjoyed--I just started giving in to the sugar addiction
![]() Thanks for making me feel better! I guess it was just time. The next time around I'll be even more successful! That's the right attitude! I was drinking the 3 quarts give or take a cup of water and a couple of cups of green tea daily. I thought that was enough. I didn't really get thirsty, just tried to fix the hunger pangs Kudos to you all! You're a great bunch of people I wish you the best! |

Day 10 All is well!
Hello everyone!!! I had a great day 9 and 10 and I'm looking forward to 11. My spirits are so high I feel like I could run a marathon....lol now that would be a sight to see.
I had a huge disappointment today. I went finally and bought some digital scales, and discovered my old scales are a few pounds light. I bike daily. I've continued to bike every other day for 3 miles. No loss of energy or any weakness at all. I had one day in all of the 10 that I felt was really difficult. I didn't feel "right" I ached my legs were restless and I just couldn't get comfortable. Other than this one day this fast has been a very wonderful experience. I wonder how far I can go? I had no goal in mind. I have to go to Toronto in October so I want to be eating normally by then but other than that, I have all the time in the world. My hubby says that I've saved him lots of money in the past 10 days. I miss fish. Other than that my head hunger is totally gone. My staff at work has been very supportive. I shared the Bragg book with them too. Well I'll post stats later when I can recalculate all my weights due to my inaccurate scales. I want to just encourage those of you who are just starting. The posts have been encouraging to me although no one much has really posted directly to me I have drawn strength from them. Don't push yourself. If you aren't ready don't start. Don't feel guilty if you don't make it...just feel encouraged you took the step to try. I can honestly say I feel better right now that I've ever felt since I can remember!!!!!! I almost am beginning to dread going back to eating and feeling sometmes sluggish after a meal. Thanks for listening! Evangelina |

Hi all!
Again, just a peek in. I like reading about the experiences you are all having, and enjoy the support between everyone. To those who are detoxing, just know that how you do it is perfect. Each person does it the way their body sees fit. It can result in weird things, but VERY useful. Frankly, it is almost a week that I have been off my fast, and I continue to be amazed at how I eat. I find that I am selective about my choices. My mental thoughts on what and how I eat are more focused on what helps me, and what hurts me. Oh, and I found the MOST delicious thing, no cal or carbs in a 7/11 orange pinapple slurpee. I can't believe how good it tastes. A real treat! Now I am certain it has something bad in it...because it tastes so good...but until someone tells me what that bad thing is...I will enjoy. Best wishes to you all!

Seriouslyme...Um. I'm sorry to have to be the one to break it to you but the 7-11 yummy slurpies aren't the paradise you think they are : ( I thought so too till I actually asked the woman of my local 7-11 (who I found out is also doing LC!) looked in the corner of the sign on the machine and it says 4 cal per ounce. If you get the 16 oz cup thats 64 cal, divided by the 4 cal/carb is 16 carbs.

Alrighty then. I've cleaned it up again but still not in ketosis. I'll just have to trust the process. I think I'm very afraid of being around food during this challenge. I'm just constantly in the kitchen due to my kids. I have no choice but to be the cook. i'm also afraid of what this will do to my mood for a few days. I think I'm just being a bit whiner and making excuses. It'll be great, it'll be good...Come morning I'm doin this thing...

Okay, *blah*
End of day 4 and I am starting to finally get some hunger pangs. I feel fairly weak and I think I'll be heading to bed early tonight. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night because I was sooo thirsty. Had no problems getting back to bed though and no leg cramps like others have mentioned, though I suspect I may experience that. I've also noticed within the last hour, as my hunger has come on, I've also got some heartburn action going on. I think this is normal, no? I'm also feeling irritable. Bro and SIL are downstairs cooking up some spaghetti w/ sausage. Sure does smell good. I think tomorrow I'll go shopping and get a chicken. Saturday I'll make the chicken in broth and by Sunday I might be coming off the fast. We shall see.

Evangelina - You rock! I wanted to let you know that when I broke my original fast my overwhelming emotion was disappointment. I didn't have a choice, I had to go on antibiotics. You need to forge a new relationship with food. Meanwhile, enjoy your fasting journey - you're doing great!
Cinder - I had problems with hunger during my 5 day fast. I battled my mental "appetite" which set off my physical hunger. I remember having almost painful hunger pains. And I wasn't having many detox symptoms, so I had a lesser "payoff" to concentrate on. YOO HOO Kimmer & Belle?? Seriously & Ohsque - welcome back to the world of food. Have you noticed your tastes changed? I have WAY less tolerance for salt now - and I was sensitive to it before. Sparrow - hang tough. Every little bit helps. GwnStfni - you're doing a lot better than I was on day 4! Hang in there! GApeach23 & mncowgirl - Good Luck! Remember, the first couple days are usually the toughest. We're here for you! HI Lori & Allison!! {I HOPE I DIDN'T FORGET ANYONE!!!} To all, I'd also like to emphasize that fasting is as much mental as physical. I just finished a 36-hour fast (Monday 10 pm - Wednesday 10 am)and it was easier because I knew I could eat "tomorrow," but harder because I don't feel I've gained any ground with my appetite demon. So the lessons for me continue. And I've gained back 2 of the 12 pounds I lost on my 5 day fast, and a wicked, nasty TOM is visiting so I'll see where I am after that all calms down. I'm eating pretty clean, though I'm craving a certain breakfast item (no specifics in respect of the fasters) that is processed. D*mn appetite demon. Or TOM. Either way, I'm still fighting the good fight. I finally found ketostix yesterday, and I'm still in deep ketosis. So I guess I just "present" fewer symptoms when detoxing. Must be more internal stuff for me (which I suspected). I hope you all have a fabulous water-filled day!!

It was pretty disconcerting, let me tell ya! Oh wait! I don't have to tell ya!
It worsened with every day even though I was in deep ketosis. I'm not giving up though. This will sound strange but now that I've eaten I feel compromised. I really need to try again. I'm still in light ketosis. I'm leaning towards Stillmans. I love meat! It worries me that ketchup is allowed though. It had sugar and that's my main addiction. Oh well! I have high hopes! ![]() |

I have decided to fast Sunday evening through Tuesday morning. I had a weekend cheatfest and need to gain control again, but I would like to get back into ketosis before I attempt to fast, kwim? Plus Monday is a busy day for me so I shouldn't be dwelling on food, LOL! Anybody else doing it then?? |

I had no stomach problems at all from skipping both the broth and slow reintroduction of food, but I immediately and noticably began retaining water - as Kimmer said would happen. TOM is coming any day now, so I'm anxious to see how much, if any, of the water drops back off. |

30 Day Detox
Hi Guys,
Well I did my 36 hr fast and it was a breeze. I got a dull headache later in the afternoon but no hunger. It did help to know that I would be eating today as someone else mentioned. I lost a lb (122). I am hoping by doing the 36hr a week fast I will be able to maintain this weight. Everyone is doing GREAT. When I did my 7 day fast I got heartburn and my pulse was also higher even though I didn't do much physically. |

Hello Fasters!
Feeling better this morning. There is a dull hunger in my belly but I'm drinking up hoping to curb that. Stats: 9/1 Day 1: 225 9/2 Day 2: 223 9/3 Day 3: 220 9/4 Day 4: 218 9/5 Day 5: 216 Kimmer, I noticed a lot of people were losing 4 or 5 pounds in the first two days which is not the case with me, seems I'm on a 2lb drop per day. Does this imply that I was not overcarbbing prior to the fast? I suppose it should as my carbs were never over 20 since starting induction. Would it also imply that after going back to induction I would have less water weight to put back on or no? Hi Kose, Congrats on coming this far! We're all here if you need us. It helps for me to post on the forum whenever I'm feeling hungry or just blah. As for the bloody gum/cavity issue, the pain and irritation has gone away. Well, it's gone away for the time being anyway. Still in heavy ketosis, urine is very dark. My breath is still bad but day 2 was the absolute worst/worse? as far as the breath went. Looks like I will be in my size 16 clothes in no time. Have a great day everyone! |

Good Morning Everyone~ We got back last night, had a fun trip, saw lots of new things~ Even won a few bucks one night at a casino! I'm still in ketosis, but did overindulge a bit with legal foods~ gained back about 2 pounds~ not bad , considering all the wine and Mexican food I had!
Found a really neat herb shop and bought an *Alterative Cleansing* blend~ so far, everything I've read indicated that it might be helpful. I told the herbalist that I would be fasting and she said it would aid with the detoxing. The mixture contains alfalfa, red clover, burdock, dandelion, sassafras, red root, sarsaparilla, licorice and ginger. We'll see~ think I'll start with small amounts first. I'm planning on a 36er starting Sun. night also~ Should we start a separate thread? Have a great day everyone! ~~~N |

BTW, that 'fast' started off as the Last Chance Diet by Dr. Marc Linn. It was the popular "liquid protein" diet of the early 80s. Actress Valerie Harper lost 45 pounds doing it then. Trouble is, the liquid protein is sooooo horrible, I started gagging after a couple of days. In my mind it didn't seem that I was actually doing anything important by drinking it (I didn't understand about protein grams then), so I stopped. I wasn't a water drinker then (still not, some things don't change!) so I drank Diet Coke. I was fasting PURELY for weight loss. The idea of "detox" would have sent me running in the opposite direction as some weirdo cult idea (hmmmm, where have we heard that before, LOL?) Kose, are you taking vitamins or supplements? How much do you have to lose? |

![]() Nady, is that detox blend available locally (California)? I'm interested in the dandelion, burdock and licorice. Gwnstfni, it might also depend on how much of a "water retainer" you are. I'm a sponge so I lose/gain a large amount -- funny, my clothes never feel different the next day either way??? Are you taking vitamins/supplements because you're fasting for a longer term? Pay attention to your ketosis sticks, that is YOUR true darkest level of ketosis! Island, isn't it amazing how we really take a look at the food we eat after a long fast? It really makes me take a look -- do I really want to eat that (as I picture every organ that will be affected, LOL). Seriously, do a search on the main BB for "Slurpee" and you can read the press release. There's about 1 carb per ounce due to the emulsifying stuff. ![]() Cinder, thank you! I think what made this thread so valuable is the insight from so many people with first hand fasting experience! It truly helps to have other viewpoints. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Well, getting through the day okay. No hunger pangs but I think I have the mental hunger thing going on. I keep thinking about the chicken soup I'm going to make when I come off the fast.
Kimmer, I'm not sure if I'm a water retainer or not. I guess I never really paid attention to my body too closely. I have not taken any vitamins since starting, just water. I am looking forward to induction and getting to eat my broccoli & steaks. Yum! |

Washed down with DDP! ![]() Nady, thanks. Those are the detox herbs that keep coming up whenever I do a search for general detox and liver cleansing. I had found one place that had all of the herbs in one capsule (I'm sure I'd have to take a handful!), but I had forgotten the site. I'll check yours out, too. Gwn, I could never tell I was a water retainer. My rings don't get tight or anything -- just when I cut carbs hard like during Induction or a fast, I lose 7-10 pounds overnight sometimes. That HAS to be water ... trouble is, where does it hide? Steak & broccoli? Think of Homer Simpson, "mmmmm, broccoli." |

Thanks Kimmer, you're too modest :)
I broke my fast yesterday after 80+ hours and I feel like running a marathon today! It's an amazing feeling! Reminds me of when I was eating clean and exercising daily--endorphin city!
Thank you all! Can't wait to give it another go! (sounds like fasting had a very negative effect on me, huh?) ![]() |
