I'm taking the Netrition CLA. I take it with my flax oil and wash both down with a swig of diet coke, doesn't leave as bad a taste but that's me. Also, keep the CLA in the fridge, it's a little better colder. You can also try putting a little cinnamon and splenda in them together

Potty runs-do they even out?

I am so excited about the CLA product. I have been on Atkins since Feb. 2, 2003 and have lost about 42lbs. I have been happy with my weight loss, but would love to get rid of that bulge in my stomach. I am almost at the point where I could tuck in my blouses again....if not for that bulge. I started at 203lbs and am down to 161lbs. I would like to reach 140lbs soon.

I started with my CLA yesterday (Monday) and by this morning I was rushing to the potty. It definately cleans you out, but I wonder....will it eventually slow down the urge to run to the bathroom? I have just started my routine walks in the evening and I would not like to be a mile from home with an urge to run to the bathroom. I bought my CLA from Trader Joes and it had Tonalin on the label and is in the 1000 mg capsule. I have taken one tablet in the am, one at lunch and two around 4:00pm. Is this the correct dosage in order to be effective?(The bottle recommends 3x a day, but I have read that 4 is better for women from some of the posters here)

Also what kind of results can I expect with my low carb plan? I am on owl at this point. I know not to expect weight loss with this supplement, but can it slow down the effectiveness of the ATkins eating plan? I too am one of those who need to see results to keep myself motivated...and my long stall the last month was starting to move with my added walking. I am willing to have a slower weightloss if I can see inches being lost. I suppose anything extra is a benefit at even the cost of more toilet paper. LOL.

Thanks for all your support.

I just tried the liquid CLA and Liquid Flaxseed Oil from GNC this morning...mannnn....the Liquid Flaxseed Oil is GRRRRRRRRROOOSSSSS...it tastes like you are drinking a tablespoon of vegetable oil *gags*, but the Liquid CLA actually suprised me...it had a nice taste, plus it was orange flavored..it still beats taking all those pills...*yuck*

I guess I gotta learn to chase it with a diet drink or water.

So far..the only after effects that I am feeling is that I have a headache and I'm going to the restroom a lot!

Take care!

Hi,

I have found a liquid version of CLA...the dose is 1/2 tablespoon and has 3500mg per dose
I purchase mine off the nutritions website.

it has a great orange flavor too!

Glad I bought the pills with all the gross talk on the liquid. Just wanted to mention that on my bottle of flax and CLA that I purchased from GNC, it shows you the "pill size" on the bottle. Which can be a good thing for some peeps, as large pills are hard to get down. Hope this helps

Ive found it much easier to get the pills down by opening my throat instead of swallowing as you would normally. Hard to describe but instead of swallowing back like you usually do....make your throat OPEN wide internally when your ready to swallow. I take 2 CLAS, 1 flax seed (which are all large ) AND 2 green tea capsules TOGETHER at once!! :-P

welcome all new challengers!! please go to the challenge board and let momf3 know you want in

GNC's Liquid CLA contains only 18.4 grams of CLA compared to 105 grams in CLA Plus with Clarinol
http://www.netrition.com/cgi/goto.cg...81&pid=21-0014 so GNC's is a huge ripoff. You have to look at the labels and do the math.

Does it matter what time of day I take this stuff? I forgot to take my dose this morning as I ran off to work, but will I screw it up by taking it when I get home, instead?

Hi Pudy

no dont worry about it :-) its best to take 2 in the morning and go from there but you can squeeze in 2 as soon as you get home and then maybe 2 before you go to bed with a snack?
ALSO, what I did so I would be sure to have my pills on hand was bought a mini vit holder that goes in my purse and I have it my most important supps in it and im never without

Hi Mony

Actually, I'm not doing the pill format. I'm still trying to deal with the oily 1/2TBLS. I'll go ahead and gag on it when I get home, and hope for the best.
Thanks!

Are you saying that you take the pill form with each meal? I hope so because I cannot possibly take this liquid form that frequently. 1/2 TBSP is more than sufficient for the day!

I have the CLA with Clarinol that I purchased at netrition. While I believe that the claim of great orange taste is grossly exaggerated, I can handle 1/2 Tblspn every morning. I wash it down with a big glass of water then eat breakfast. It sure neats having to take 4-5 large capsules a day. I am certain I would forget to take them at lunch and dinner. One dose in the morning of the liquid and I'm done for the day!

WOW!!! I am glad that I read your post on the CLA with Clarinol!! I had misread the dosage and took 1 1/2 T. this morning {first time taking it}. I guess I will have a couple less days in this bottle now. Just got the liquid from Netrition yesterday. I am going to try this one months supply and see how it works. If I see results-I will stay on it and talk my daughter into it also.

Welcome aboard!

Don't worry about the extra dosage amount today. It's easy to confuse tablespoons & teaspoons. As I understand it, 1 tbsp equals 3 tsp, so a dosage of Netrition's CLA brand would be either 1/2 tbsp or 1 1/2 tsp.

Your taking of 1 1/2 tbsp will probably net you a few extra trips to the john, worst case scenario.

Ouch...my head

Has anyone experienced headaches when starting CLA? My head is killing me and was wondering if this was a normal side effect or do I just have a plain old headache.

I never experienced the headache...I did find I gave up stool softners because of taking it!!! I also found personally I needed to take it with/after meals...I was taking it in the morning, without eating for an hour and noticed my insulin levels dropping low.
Some people get headaches with low insulin levels.

Thanks Mony - another ? Is it necessary to take the flaxseed oil capsules in addition to the CLA?

No it isn't necessary to take flax with CLA. It is a good idea to take some form of EFAs, though for other reasons besides fat-burning, but, no, it isn't necessary. You don't need to take both to see results.

GinaBina3,

I've been getting nonstop headaches since the start of Liquid CLA and Liquid Flaxseed Oil...I took a break today to see if they would go away and I'll try to start again tomorrow. Headaches are NO joke
