Breakfast ideas

I'm just starting Paleo this week and I'm having trouble with breakfasts. I'm not a big egg person, I feel like I'm forcing them down. I used to eat steel cut oats every day and now I can't. I've been eating a grapefruit in morning so far and eggs when I can stomach them. What else can I eat here?

Do you like quiches? You can put a lot of veggies and meat in it and mask most of the eggy flavor. I make it crustless in a pie plate and eat it for a few days. You can also make smoothies (frozen fruit, water or coconut milk, spinach, banana, etc).

Steak? Chicken? Fish? Leftovers from supper? Don't think only breakfast foods, think "anytime" foods

I struggle with breakfast too. I also am not a big fan of eggs. Often times I have some cold protein (leftover chicken breasts cut in strips and fried in coconut oil, beef jerky, beef sausage) and broccoli/carrots with organic ranch. I unfortunately miss breakfast too often too on days I work early. So if you come up with any brilliant ideas please share!

Yes this. I have made primal italian sausage meat balls for breakfast and they are so yummy.

It is hard sometimes to shake our 'old thinking' ...because every body and their brother/sister has/believes 'old thinking'.

Being willing to step out and see "break the fast" differently, gives us new options=anything I can find in the frig/freezer

This morning, for me, it was "OH, look! I think there are too many 4oz. portions of chicken in the freezer...guess I better have chicken"...(she tosses a portion in a little pan, turns on the fire)
...then "what can I add to that chicken...Ahh...need to finish up that yummy chicken broth..."...(she added about 12oz. thick, yum broth)
...add to that... "...looky there, I forgot about that new bag of baby spinach."...(oops, she takes out about 1/2 cup broth, adds 1tea. Guar Gum/shakes it all up to thicken, add it and the spinach back to the pan)
...stir, stir, stir,....she turns on the latest Low Carb Podcast on the computer, and checks up on all the LCF's groups...simmer chicken/spinach/spice stew and enjoy the aroma....

Why looky there...the sun is shining....(she takes her super sized stew out to the sunshine on the front deck, puts her feet up, and slowly...spoon by slow spoon...enjoys her break-the-fast!)

Who says we have to eat "breakfast food" at break-the-fast?

What about delaying breakfast for a couple of hours and enjoying an early lunch? I only say this because for some reason people can be grossed out by a salad or pork chop at 9am, but by 11am it is fine, LOL!

Personally, I don't eat breakfast. I haven't eaten before 1 or 2pm in years. Think about whether you're actually hungry in the morning, or are you eating out of habit? The whole 6 meals a day thing starting at 8am isn't a Primal concept, so if you aren't hungry, ditch breakfast and start eating when you are!

The only thing those oats were good at was making you hungry later in the day. Without them, your whole system may be changing. :-)

I tend to make a batch of paleo muffins on Sunday (using almond meal and tapioca flour, egg, almond milk if necessary, banana or pumpkin, etc.) and then have one and some sausage or bacon every workday morning. On the weekends I make paleo pancakes. I've also made paleo granola bars and granola (which I eat with almond milk as cold cereal). I'm really not an egg person in the morning, so I had to find paleo-friendly substitutes for my grain-based favorites. I just cruised paleo cooking sites and tried recipes until I found my staples that I like...
