Wonfering....

about primal and how you make it work.

I found a great cheddar biscuit recipe. 3 cups almond flour, 3 eggs, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/4 cup plain yogurt, 1/2 cup water, 6 oz. shredded cheddar cheese. (add small dice, one jal. pepper if desired)

when I run the numbers it comes out to 2912 cals. (42 carbs) for the batch. makes 12. that is 242 calories EACH

so my question is what is primal checking? net carbs you don't check right? is it calories??

while everything in those cheddar biscuits is fresh, natural etc. and definitely a better food than a processed biscuit, the calorie count is huge. 2 would be 484 calories.

So is primal worried more abuot the fresh, naturalness of the food vs. calorie counts?

just wondering. cause primal I can also go thru the roof on calories if I add in things like these biscuits.

How does one lose on eating like this?

The recipe is primal, but a lot of people eating primal or paleo are doing it for reasons other than weight loss. I think primal is a great WOE, but I would have to do low carb primal and I'm not ready to give up artificial sweeteners or certain processed foods yet.

Paleo & primal are, as far as I understand, more about WHAT foods you eat than tracking any specific amounts. There are programs within that framework for weight loss but even people doing the Whole 30 aren't recording much weight loss, as far as I recall from reading.
The concept behind Paleo is that you're eating things only available to hunter/gatherers, and primal adds dairy to this diet. This is a very basic run down, there are more details elsewhere but it isn't about counting carbs or calories. It is more about the belief that our bodies evolved eating certain foods & nutrients, and that a lot of modern health problems stemmed from attempting to fuel our bodies with products/produce/chemicals that were not available to us when our digestive tract evolved. Much like a gas engine would not know how to run on diesel fuel, our systems malfunction when fed too much "modern" stuff.
As I understand it, Paleo and Primal are more a WOE/WOL rather than weight loss plans in and of themselves, although I am sure there are ways to incorporate weight loss within those frameworks.
