He is doing whole30, and was wondering if there are any pickles that might be OK?

Yesterday I was shopping at Walmart (I know, I know..) and was so pleased to find Vlasic pickle planks that are low sodium. Yea! I said to myself. I was going to use them on my DH's grilled catfish po-boy this week. I was going to coat in almond and coconut flour and oven bake till crunchy. Well, yesterday afternoon I downloaded an app from Fooducate and proudly scanned my new find. They graded it a C because of artificial colors added. I'm a label reader and this escaped me- was interested in low sodium content only. So, it got me to thinking. I need to get myself to the farmers market and make my own "overnight" pickles- no dyes, my own salt content, freshness. I scanned the toddler's juice (which I do dilute)- too much sugar. I'm taking it back and will buy or juice apples. This is all stuff I have done halfway in the past but I need to get on board full time :doh:

Hmm, never thought about the dyes! Pickles are such a wonderful addition to paleo foods. But don't want to have to make them.:sad:

I'm actually fementing my own now, it's just cucumber, sea salt water and dill. They have been fermenting now for 5 days. Going to give them at least a couple more days. Hope they're not gross!
