Starting my 3rd annual Lenten SNAP challenge
Starting the annual challenge-eating well for 6 weeks on a SNAP budget AKA food stamps. It's a partly paleo/primal eating plan. Grilled meats, lots of fresh veggies, big salads, little-to-no processed food, limited dairy and fruit. Well, its the way we usually eat I guess :dunno: My one weakness is my GF pasta (Heartland brand). We eat it maybe once a week and no more than 2 oz (I only cook 4oz for the both of us). I don't have any issues with it.

This is always a good time to cut the cheese :hyst: as my budget won't allow much anyway. Six ounces of Parmesan cheese has to last 6 weeks. You can find the particulars here. I will be aiming at $60-65 a week. I have 3 weeks of menus and then I will restart again. I will post those later here, along with our progress, and in the menu thread. Food is getting so expensive. I will be surprised if we come in much under the allowance. A few years ago I came in over $100 under, but I don't think that will happen this year

Update week three
Two weeks down. Four more weeks to go. We're doing just OK. The toddler AKA as Miss Thang, is costing me in organic juice and fresh fruit for snacks. She's going to have to get a job  ...But I am paying more attention what I give her to eat. And as our dear friend Martha would say....that's a good thing.

Update here....Week Two Over...the Lenten SNAP Challenge 2013 continues

All times are GMT -7. The time now is 09:44 AM.
