New Paleo diet
Well after reading Vegetarian Myth, Wheat Belly and the CR Way I decided on the Paleo diet with two 24hr fast a week. I have to admit that I had no idea how hard it is to eliminate wheat, soy and sugar. How long will it take for the cravings to go away? Will I lose a good amount of weight? I only want to lose 25 pounds and no more then that. I've been on the SAD diet and was drinking two 20oz pepsi a day for the caffeine as I don't like coffee. Its also hard to eat this way when I have a family who eats the Sad diet. Any advice would help. Thanks

The cravings may take a couple of weeks or it could take a few months.
It all depends on the addiction level. I don't find it hard eating this way even though my husband eats some SAD foods, but eats mostly what I eat. His breakfast and lunch have bread items, but other than that, it is all Paleo. We eat protein, fat and veggies for supper. He might have a small scoop of ice cream in the evening and I will opt for a portion of fruit. |
Maybe you should just start with one of those changes. It's hard to make a lifestyle change, but trying to make two changes at once might set you up for failure. My experience has always been that I try to do too much too quickly and then end up being miserable and not continuing. I wish you all of the luck in the world!! They say it takes one month to make a habit. I would do the paleo diet for a month, and then try the 24 hour fasts after that.

I find that so far the two hardest things to give up right now is salt and sugar. Salt is harder than sugar. I have NEVER cooked without salt. Right now everything is tasting bland. I ate an apple today though and you just dont know how happy it made my mouth. LOL.

Shantony, why are you limiting salt? You actually need salt and we get too much when we eat processed foods, but with a whole foods diet you may actually not be getting enough salt. If you use a good sea salt or mineral salt you'll get additional nutrients too.

Please don't give up salt!!! especially Iodine salt. your body NEEDS it!!!
