Breakfast ideas for primal???
Right now I"m eating eggs and "grain free" cereal which is basically a nut based cereal for breakfast.
It's kind of getting old and boring. Anyone have any other ideas for breakfasts??? THanks!!!! |

I NEVER tire of eggs. There are hundreds of ways to prepare them differently. My favorite breakfast is eggs w/ salmon and sauteed spinach!
But dinner leftovers is an awesome suggestion. Grilled chicken or salmon with a veggie side is what I would recommend. I don't do much bacon, but I do buy organic nitrate free bacon occasionally. |

I love to scramble my eggs with peppers, onions and mushrooms. Love a green smoothie in the morning too--Coconut milk or almond milk *did you ever try to milk an almond?* handful of spinach, 1/2 avocado and then add:
1.Fresh or frozen berries or 1/2 banana or 1/2 chopped apple or...you get the idea 2. Protein powder, an egg, cocoa powder *not Swiss Miss*, instant espresso, etc 3. Anything you can find in fridge--today I grated some fresh ginger in to my green meanie (had blueberries, yum) Search "Fawn" and "green smoothie" on this site and lots more ideas should come up. Fills me up |

Since Mark Sisson sells "Primal Fuel" which is mostly whey protein powder and discusses the use of it in protein shakes (recently I got an email about it from him), I think a little bit of protein powder is OK under the Primal Blueprint guidelines. I have to research it a bit more, but doesn't that stand to reason?

Trader joes precooked bacon with blueberries and tea
chili, leftover paleo spaghetti with zucchini noodles, chicken and veggies, coconut butter and dark chocolate...the possibilities are endless. I just ordered some sugar-free brownies from Etsy. The baker is paleo herself and had lost 50 lbs after switching from Atkins to Paleo. She said the quality of food in her treats enhances her losses. She uses coconut oil, Lindt 85% chocolate, free range organic eggs, stevia/erythritol and almond/coconut flours. If this were an Atkins baked good, it would likely call for splenda and cream cheese. This may be an option to consider. Just put the search term "paleo" into etsy and read her feedback. ETA: Protein powder is liquid nutrition, which is not the best option for people who are trying to lose fat. Last edited by rsmorales; 01-08-2012 at 06:37 AM.. |

I"m fine with eggs every morning, but some of the ideas here sound yummy! And I'm headed to Etsy to check out the paleo treats.

Generally I go with eggs and possibly bacon too. However, I like to take a week off from eggs every once in awhile, so leftovers is always a great option.

I usually have bacon and eggs, crustless quiche or eggs with veggies, and occasionally I'll have leftovers. Today, however, I made pork chops with onions, garlic, mushrooms and a coconut milk-based sauce. That was tasty! I work at home, so I'm not in a rush to prepare breakfast, which helps a lot.

Creamed eggs on a bed of steamed spinach.
Just chop up 2 or 3 hard boiled eggs and toss them in a microwave safe bowl with some butter, cream, salt and pepper. Nuke for 2 minutes until heated through, stir and nuke another minute. Serve over steamed spinach or mix the spinach in and heat that way |

Way too much time on my hands!
|
I usually IF~ but if I eat before noon, it's HB eggs or leftover meat from dinner the night before ~ although, every once in awhile, I taste test something I just picked from the garden, like carrots or turnips~ not very structured with breakfast~

You can do Chicken Pancakes :-)
Sorry for butting in.... I;m new :-) sort of 1 chicken breast precooked (season as desired while boiling) 3 eggs Using a food processor, blend ingredients together until completely smooth. Mixture will look just like thick pancake batter. Use 1/4 cup of the mixture and cook in hot greased skillet like a pancake. Batter may need to be spread out a bit so that it is not too thick. These cook much faster than nut flour pancakes. Watch them closely. Makes 4-5 pancakes. |

There are tons of ideas on the web for almond meal and coconut flour pancakes. You can also make muffins out of them, scones, etc.
