I'm in. I went shopping today in preparation - got lots of fresh and frozen veggies, some fruit and nuts, omega 3 eggs and plenty of fish and lean meat. I also made homemade mayo tonight. I'm going to miss my artificial sweetener and my Greek yogurt, but I'm looking forward to trying this.

Can I join you all here. I'm doing my first whole 30 starting today. I lost to my goal weight using Atkins several years ago & maintained it for several years. My diet has gotten sloppy over the last several years & I've been maintaining a higher weight for the last 6 years. I like to cook & love good food. I'm optimistic that I can do this to clean up my diet & feel better again.

Seems like you all are off to a good start!
I plan to read on Marks site for extra motivation and ideas. Yesterday didn't go so well. I should have planned on starting TOday instead, so here I am! |

I'm never perfect lol but keep trying to get closer with paleo. Just bought Loren cordain's latest book, Paleo Answer. I listen to Robb wolf's podcasts, and keep checking all the paleo sites for new ideas and to stay motivated.
So....I'm trying to stop grazing...I pick at nuts and chocolate, esp the coconut bark I make, all day. Otherwise I'm ok. I eat meat, fish, veggies, a little fruit and starchy tubers like sweet potato, eggs, nuts. I try to get organic and grass fed as much as possible. Ok, maybe no chocolate for 30 days and keep my carbs under 50g a day. Sorry for the ramble..... ![]() ![]() ...trying to figure out my approach....lol....

My starting weight is 136 as of Saturday. I did measurements too & saved them in ******. I know I will have a hard time staying off the scale for a month, but I'm going to try. My jeans are tight after the holidays so at the very least it would be nice for them to fit again. My main goal is to regain control of my diet instead of the little of this or that won't hurt mindset I've had for a while now. I have almost 2 weeks of dinners planned (Mon-Fri only) at this point & I think that will help as much as anything.
I also gave my kids & DH permission to criticize if I stray from my diet plan so that should help. I think the hardest thing for me will be giving up the cream in my coffee & the occasional adult beverage. Last edited by kellydawne; 01-02-2012 at 02:54 PM.. |

pretty good first day yesterday!!
It's good to 'get back to basics.' Food yesterday: coffee venison brussel sprouts(1 pat of butter) trail mix big bowl of baby carrots chicken spinach+butternut squash(not sure about the squash! but it was delicious) coconut+dark chocolate need to limit 'indulgences,' to the weekends maybe. |

I joined a biggest loser competition at work yesterday. It goes by weight loss %.
I was at 166.4 with my clothes on. It's 50 to enter, 12 ppl joined and my job is matching the pot, so itis a nice amount of money. Now I need to start working out! |

I love the book/cookbook "Everyday Paleo" by Sarah Fragoso. I enjoy the ideas I get from the different recipes and all are easy.

I woke up feeling yucky this morning. I'm thinking that along with being super hungry yesterday probably means my body is getting rid of all the yucky stuff I ate over the holidays. (Yeah!)
Kerry, good luck on the competition at work! I like the Everyday Paleo website too. The other sites I've pulled recipes from are "clean eats in the zoo" and "the clothes make the girl" On the clean eats blog she posts her menus for the week which seems very helpful to get ideas. |
