Atkins Paleo Style
My name is Sheila.I have been a lurker off and on for years. I need support and a place to go where I am held responsible. On Sept. 23 I'm starting a Pa Nu type Induction. I am 53 yrs old, overweight, tired and sore. It's time to treat this body better.
So... clean meats, low carb veggies, animal fats. Water,Coffee and Tea. Walking and lifting. Eight hrs sleep. Sun or Vit. D daily. After 2 weeks I,m not sure. Guess I'll see how I feel. Sorry for the long post. Any suggestions? Thank you, Sheila. |

I will join you because that is essentially what I am doing
I have been on this plan for about a month and it is really a good thing. Things I am avoiding: -Caffine -Sugar -Stevia -Honey -Aspartame & Sucralose -Starchy Vegetables -Grains -Sweet Fruits (Most Fruits at this point) -Limited Nuts -Limited Cheese/Dairy -Soy products -Alcohol I don't put anything sweet into my mouth that is working well for me. I got to a point where I was too reliant on sugar free products and eating tons of low carb junk food. My focus now is on real low carb food: fatty meats, green vegetables, coconut oil, and some cheese. I drink water or herbal tea throughout the day without any sweetener. I use an organic toothpaste that has no sweeetener. I also take supplements based on the Diet Cure book. I plan to stick to this plan until I reach goal weight. I may reintroduce fruits, stevia, & nuts at that point. Maybe a sweet potato on a rare occassion. Last edited by Tonedbody; 09-21-2011 at 12:40 PM.. |

Tonedbody, The plan you're following is very close to the one I start tomorrow. If I taste sweet, I am eating all day long and I don't feel full. So No Sweet taste at all. Meats,Veggies and fats. 2 weeks. I haven't read The Cure book . I have been off and on Atkins for 10 years. Found Paleo/Primal April of 2010. Sheila

Dotti, I have always tried to keep my dieting quiet. So if or when I failed no one would know. This time I am telling everyone. I have to do this. Sheila

I understand that. It can be very difficult when people have no understanding of the plan you're on. I just had dinner with my mother and grandmother and my mom was shocked at how much I've lost, said she was proud of me then promptly tried to get me to eat pasta salad (that she made especially for me) and potatoes. I mean really. I've been low-carb for years, she knows this. And naturally it hurt her feelings that I simply said "no thanks, I don't eat that stuff".

Kerry, when I get back into the LC groove I will do IF and Meat and egg days. Seems I need to shake things up once a week or so. Overall how was the last month ? Worthwhile? Sheila

I loved it.. I still love it, and after the 30 days am not sure I will add back cheese or milk. I just may add in butter or ghee..
I will deff let you know how much I lost and how i'm doing. But my numbers are not going to be big I'm pretty close to goal and i'd be happy with a half a pound a week at this stage of the game.. The last time I lost weight (before my son) it took me about a year to get from 150 to 140 |

I feel good eating my meat, veggies, & fats and I plan to eat this way until I reach goal. Once I reach or get close to goal I will add more veggies, fruits, nuts, and occassionally sweet potato, beans, and some stevia. The plan is to stay away from sugar, grains, dairy, alcohol, and soy forever. It was hard for me to consume stevia in moderation. I could easily use over 10 packets per day. In the future I would like to reserve it for use on special occassions. I may even grow my own stevia plant so that it would be more natural. I do get a bit of a sweet taste from cinnamon sticks. I put them into boiling water and drink the liquid as a tea then I eat the cinnamon stick. It is very tasty and doesn't cause sweet cravings. Cinnamon is also supposed to be very good for your blood sugar. |
