but have a question??

How much better do you feel eating this way as opposed to regular ole Atkins??
What are the advantages to eating this way as opposed to Atkins??

Thanks guys!!

I've noticed a few things.
I have more energy.
I have less hunger (a lot less).
My skin looks better (without processed foods I'm guessing).
My allergies are better, even with it being very high pollens and other allergens here this spring.
I'm less tired/needing less sleep.
I find the taste of foods prepared simply more satisfying and, well, tasty (lol).
My shopping list is less complicated (meats, eggs, fresh and frozen veggies, a few special items like coconut flour, stevia, coconut oil) but a lot less of "everything else".

I have terrible allergy problems even when eating on Atkins. I wonder if eliminating the dairy would help?? For a beginner that knows nothing what is the best book to buy???

Thanks Dottie!!!

For me Primal Blueprint was my choice, but then I discovered about 99% of what was included in the information is available everywhere on the web free lol.
I am a "bookie" though, I like having it at hand.
The recipe books from the same title are also pretty good, but again - free stuff all over the net:)

Thanks. The web confuses me. Some web sites claim that you can eat sweet potatoes on Paleo?? This is one of the reasons I switched to Atkins. Do the sweet potatoes start cravings for you?? I have terrible blood sugar issues and need to resolve this, however it states that on the Paleo plan you do not have to count calories correct?? I am also getting sick of counting calories on every other eating plan including Atkins.

I love robb wolfs book, he is amazing and so funny. Also look up marks daily apple, and also the whole30...
I dont count calories... I love this way of eating.. after having my second son, I could have starved myself on atkins induction eating it to the T with under 20 carbs and 1200 calories and not lost..
The minute I started eating clean the weight just fell off.. I have lost 20lbs since I started in may..
I say devote 30 days to eating totally clean, no sweetners, no frankenfoods, no dairy etc... if you like it stay with it, if you don't move on.. but I will guarantee 99.9% after 30 days devoted with no cheats you will be ready to bow down to paleo/primal

I never in my life thought i'd be buying vibrams, but I got them in june and love them.. Paleo is amazing, and I would rather have fruit then an atkins bar any day...

I have done low carb/Atkins for along, probably since 1995.
I am being totally honest, I feel a million times better eating this way.
One thing for me that was easy when eating paleo, I eat so many veggies!! I do LOVE them, so they help so much with being full. I have also eaten small amounts of various fruits all along, which has been so nice.
Now I also enjoy dark chocolate with some fat coconut flakes, super good.
You should try paleo!!
I also had allergy issues, nasal issues, they are mostly gone, I do believe it was the dairy.

I havent read any books, I want to, I TOTALLY LOVE Robb Wolfs podcasts on Itunes, and LOVE Sarah and Chrissy's Podcast on Itunes "Everyday Paleo"

Wow you guys are awesome!!!! I'm gonna take the challenge. 30 days Paleo with no cheats and no counting calories. Since I have a mac and iPhone I'm totally gonna download the podcasts on iTunes.

You guys rock!!!!

I'm guessing coconut milk in the coffee tomorrow????

I'm going to start this. I don't have a book. I am hoping I can get enough info here : )

I do believe dairy and grains are messing up my insides. I feel bloated and rather miserable.

Paleo is easy but staying on the right path is what is difficult. Too many temptations with the Summer.

Dottie 07-26-2011 06:05 PM

I don't seem to have any problem with dairy, though I keep it to 1-2T half and half and occasionally cheese (small amounts).
Grains, I just feel so much better without them.

.

I feel SO terrible with inflamation (arthritis) when I have dairy or grains, it has kept me on a very straight path of paleo eating since January. I did have some chocolate dipped strawberries and a marshmellow on Easter, luckily I didnt hurt like crazy the next day.
It took a couple of months to totally nix the cravings for sugar/grain/dairy, now I just mildly think " bet that tastes good" then, for some unexplained reason to me, I dont obsess ,the thought of 'said food' simply goes away!
That is what has made paleo so super easy for me

micheleredit 07-27-2011 05:39 AM

Well I'm on board with all of you. This morning I'm up drinking my black coffee with coconut milk.

I'm hoping to feel great by next week and at least have lost some weight. I've also been struggling with fertility issues and a lot of people said they got pregnant on Paleo. That is another motivating factor for being on this
