raw eggs
So I usually eat two raw eggs daily in a shake because I just can't stand eating in the morning, but if I don't get some calories and nutrition in me, I feel light headed and foggy and like I need a nap. I read on MDA that there's some kind of protein killing substance in egg whites and eating raw eggs often is a bad idea. Does anyone have any more information on this? What do you think?

I think you are referring to avidin which is found in raw egg whites...avidin is deactivated by cooking. Avidin binds the vitamin biotin and the thought is that eating too many raw egg whites can cause a biotin deficieny. I don't think consuming occassional raw eggs whites is a problem but I personally wouldn't consume them everyday. It is a controversial issue, however. I think the ideal way to eat eggs is to have the white (lightly) cooked and the yolk raw or mostly raw, such as soft-boiled or over-easy (though I usually eat scrambled or over-medium myself).

Mistizoom- How do you eat your soft-boiled or over-easy eggs?
I tried poaching my eggs a week or two ago, then realized that I usually enjoyed the liquid yolks by dipping toast in them or smearing them on biscuits. |

sometimes I care about that and sometimes I don't. When I do worry, I just separate my eggs, put the yolk in the shake and save the whites to make meringues later. Win Win.
