Where do I find coconut milk in a CAN?
The Whole 30 people say I need the coconut milk from a can, not carton. I'm kinda glad because the stuff I picked up in a carton is tasteless and textureless and offers nothing redeeming.
However, I can't find the stuff in a can. I've looked at Randalls and Kroger. Will I have to go to Whole Paycheck? |
Kroger in the international foods aisle. Thai Kitchen and A Taste of Thai are the brands they carry here:)

You should find it in the Asian food section of your grocer. The trick is to find it without the guar gum or other thickeners. I also understand that there is a frozen kind I have not been able to find yet. It is not only top notch stuff, but it makes for a tasty substitute for ice cream..

I have found it in the Asian section of Super Walmart.

Asian section of the grocery store! :)
@Cuthbert: I'm glad you said that about the Guar gum...have you found a specific brand in a can that doesn't have it? I am interested! :) |

Aroy-D is another:
Ingredients: coconut milk 55%, water, potassium metabisulfite (as perservative). Unsweetened. Product of Thailand. Walmart has it, but I order it off amazon by 12 packs. |
Thanks Dottie, I was trying to remember the name of that one. I want to find this stuff though...

So, I went to Kroger. I am out of money until next week, so I used the Coinstar and turned in all my change. $34.64. I found the canned coconut milk in the Asian section, on sllight sale. I purchased 3 cans and an on sale rubbermail container. I also picked up eggsland's best hard boiled eggs and went to work.
I've had a cup of coffee with coconut cream. I can't tell you how much better it was than the other coconut stuff from a carton! That was little more than water! But the best was the slightly defrosted mixed berries with coconut cream. :notwrthy: Yum-O. |
ooh I can't stand the so delicious coconut milk "beverage". It just tastes like colored water that's been sitting in the sun to me.

Trader Joe's always has coconut milk in a can for less than the other grocers around here, even less than Walmart.
