I'm "not perfectly paleo" :)
I posted this in another thread but here's what I'd adapted that works for me.
What's yours? I'd guess I'm about 85% primal/paleo. I do have my coffee and tea with ez-sweetz (1pk sweet n low with coffee, 2-3 drops ez-sweetz per day with the tea IF I have sweetener added at all). I may eat 1-2oz cheese a week total. No grains at all. I do use coconut flour occasionally(maybe 1-2x a week) Occasionally salad dressings if not just vinegar and evoo. Bacon maybe 1-2x a month. Sausage less than 2x a month. Dairy: 2T half and half in my coffee per day; greek yogurt maybe 3x a month (1/2 cup or less). Occasional coconut milk or almond breeze with a protein shake(maybe 1 a week). Olives probably 5-10 a week (not sure where they fall in the whole paleo thinking) Otherwise it's lean meats and fresh or frozen veggies. Sometimes with butter, mostly with evoo. Lots of spices. Oh and my attitude towards exercise: it's not optional! I exercise, even if it's just a light work out, 5-6 days a week. Mostly a circuit type program, but on lazy days I at least get in cardio and some light weights or bands

I've been doing a lot of reading and most plans seem to accept coconut milk and almond milk as acceptable.
Cheese isn't a big deal because I don't eat a lot of it. I just can't drink my coffee without half and half lol. |

I started a Whole 30 to break a 6+ week low carb stall. I suspect it was dairy/portion control.
Then a life event happened. ![]() In any case, I've read the Paleo Solution and Primal Blueprint. I have reduced dairy significantly, and added berries (whereas on Atkins, I'd wait on them). I do use commercial salad dressing, but when I can I use avocado or guacamole instead. I am trying to reduce (severely) my artifical sweetners. I'm not sure I can go as far as sweet potatoes, and white rice which some Primal types do on another forum. My diet is mostly: veggies, meat, eggs

I just read some interesting stuff on Kurt Harris's Archevore blog. He eats primal and part of his eating consists of consuming cream and/or half and half from pastured cows. He said it should be fine unless you have a dairy sensitivity. Anyway, his blog is worth reading. He's well-respected in the Paleo community. Just thought you should know...

I'm pretty close to Paleo, although my candida diet is a little stricter on some things. The only fruit I can have is limited quantities of lemons and limes. The only dairy I can have is butter, butter oil, and ghee. Also, I can't eat nuts. I usually find my recipes from Paleo books and websites since they're usually dairy free. It seems like most of the Atkins type low carb recipes rely heavily on cheese or HWC, which I can't have.

Ah no resources locally sadly
I am thrilled that Kroger has organic raspberries on sale this week. I'm going to get several cartons and freeze them to make a paleo-style frozen sorbet (just frozen fruit, stevia and a little water and lemon juice in a food processor, pulsed until it's smooth then re-frozen if it thawed). I usually use frozen strawberries but I love fresh raspberries. |
