They've already replied that I can eliminate the dates if I want to and use more almond butter. That's probably what I'm going to do, as I try to avoid fruits, especially dried ones. The beauty of You bars is that apparently you can customize any way you wish.
Even though I 'created' my bars with their terrific online assistance, they encourage me to call to discuss changing the recipe, so that I can get 'real time' advice. They seem very customer oriented. |

Hi
Hello all
I have started eating this way last week. I was already low carbing but lets face it CHEESE was a food group of it own ! I have had problems with the washroom and going too much:blush: and suspected that dairy was more of a problem than I thought. Well I did it. I am dairy free and I gave up my half and half. OH BOY have I had the most wicked headache ever. It is just starting to get better. And this is all from dairy withdrawal. I was totally totally shocked. I have given up everything they have asked except I need to phase out my salt use and I have not given up my Walmart Brand diet soda at this point ( it is made with splenda) though I have not had a pop in 4 days. I will have one if I have a rum ( not drinking for 6 weeks til we go on our vacation to the Mayan on December 1st).I think I will do well at the all inclusive as the food is so great. Fresh fish, seafood, fruit. The booze well we shall see . I am not having a hard time at all. It is easier than I thought. I think I craved dairy and it was hard on my system.I like that it says 90% of the time to eat this way. Some can do it 100% but not me. If I can get the weight off and stay away from most dairy 90% of the time. I will be thrilled. I have no weighed since I started this. I will weigh next Wednesday and let you all know how I am doing. It is nice to meet others trying to give this a try. Katie

What happened to "fluffybear2" ?? Did she become extinct, like the caveman? Haven't heard from her in months.

Minnas-
I DID re-order without the dates, and although I liked them, I don't think that the average person would enjoy the 'flat' taste with no sweeteners at all. You are right that they are more 'crumbly,' but they stay together fairly well. I would not hesitate to order again. Don't be afraid to order because they offer money back if you don't like the bars you ordered. On Mark's Daily Apple, I read that a poster didn't like his bars, sent them back with a request for a change, and got the newly formulated bars free. |

If you go to their website, you create your own bars there. It's really cool. You select all your own ingredients, and the site gives you a running total of calories, carbs, protein, etc.
And you should see the guarantee there as well that you can return what you've created if it's inedible! |

I'm really heading towards the Paleo way of eating by accident, with the exception of butter for cooking and flavoring, and the 1 or 2 servings of tofu with my daily dark veggie consumption. Don't need much more than food with eyes and dark green veggies, avocado's, and nuts.....such a simple lifestyle....

I would like to bring to your attention this web site. It is based on a scientific approach to paleo.

climbing aboard....was in the low carb rooms but since I don't have a sweet tooth all the needies there crying about pop tarts calling them and such began to become a drag. Who in their right mind has that crap in their house anyway?
Started out LC Atkins and lost initially but I'm in a huge stall and haven't lost since the first two weeks. Yes, I love my white wine but would eat short (two meals/day) to make up for it. Any suggestions? BTW I was vegan for three years before realizing that makes you gain too. |

WOE: paleo, sprinkling of fermented dairy

I'm up for a monthly thread!
A recent days menu: B: frittata with broccoli, spinach, ham. Kimchi on the side. L: braised brisket with multiple chiles, mashed turnips, braised collards S: .5 apple + almond butter D: seared tuna with cabbage salad (with fermented carrots and daikon) I agree--simple, real food, yummo. As I say on the side, I eat a bit of fermented dairy (yogurt that I make, a bit of cheese every now and then). I also eat butter, particularly clarified butter. So maybe I am more "primal"? But still. |
