My boss lost a big chunk of weight in a short time using the Paleo diet. Does anyone else have any experience with it? It doesn't look like you can lose all that weight that fast.
I recently switched back to mostly Paleo after two+ years as a Vegan. However, no eggs and dairy. Depends on who you believe some think eggs are Paleo some don.t'. So I pretty much eat meat, veggies, fruit. No sauces, no AS. I do use honey here and there, raw honey. I use VCO and EVOO as added fats. I feel so much better clothes fitting better, let you know how much weight comes off. Right now I am not a winter Paleo, I am eating as much fruit as I want and the scale is moving for me. So this is what I'll have today:
PRE B: 24 ounce smoothie - strawberries, raw honey w/ blackberries, goji berries, banana, ice, water
B: 4 slices eye round roast
S1: apple, 12 ounces coffee or green tea with VCO in it
L: 4 slices eye round roast, cauliflower, grapes
D: large simple salad with breakaway ribeye (not steakums, butcher sliced realllly thin then cooked by me)on top no dressing or just lime juice
I am hungry later I'll have some steamed broccoli. It may seem restrictive but after being Vegan for so long this is like the best thing ever. I got real sick being a Vegan, I didn't do it right and just could not make it. So I added meat back, pure whole cuts. I buy my meat in large chunks and cut it myself all except those breakaways...I don't have a meat slicer to do that. I don't eat any cured meats. I will do smoked once I find a real smoker. I absolutely cannot have nitrates and will not eat anything with it. I do not seek low fat meats per say and do use sea salt. As for nuts, at this point not really, no aversion, just not wanting them. I won't use nut milk unless I make it. It's simple so I do occasionally.
So is Paleo VLC? Depends what you eat.

I've been on and off Atkins so many times and gained and lost huge chunks of weight, but for some reason the weight will not come off this go around. I think my body has developed some type of diet memory or something.
I also forgot to add I do as much grass fed, organic, local as I can. I grow roma tomatoes, kirby cucumbers, mint, oregano, lemon balm, lavender, cayenne, yellow hot pepper, green pepper, garlic, beets, carrots, sage, basil, green leaf lettuce, cos, dill, cilantro, onions, lemon grass, thyme, tarragon, patchouli, comfrey, catnip, wheat grass and in my bil's garden big tomatoes and cucumbers, squash, cos and cantaloupe. All organic, all the time. I did more herbs because we were going to do a an Organic CSA which would give me more greens than I can handle. However, once we stopped being Vegan we need another type of CSA with added Organic meats and such. So the spices I use I dry if not using fresh. No added fillers. I don't have a huge space for gardening, I actually live in an apartment. I have a 5X13 plot and that is about as big as I can get. But I have pots everywhere....inside outside. hanging up, in the bathroom, in the kitchen. Have a growing station with shop lights in the living room...but it needs tweaking. I am hoping by frost time to have lettuce well growing under those lights... My bil has about a 5X7 plot but can expand and I will next year.
So my focus is being as squeaky clean as possible. It was a huge blow to my mental state to go to the butcher and buy that first cut of ribeye after over two years. I cried, I really did...So my trade off is being as clean and green as I can in other ways. Paleo really inspires me to do this. I lost alot of weight on atkins, more than once but I never felt as I do now. I weigh more right now but I am healthier.....I found what works for me and if it works for you, great.....I'd love to share your progress with you:P)
My mistakes in the past were, dairy and eggs. Both made me sick and played hell on my blood sugar. I gave those up and got better but I got sick again because I hate pasta and most breads and rice. Being a Vegan without that stuff is hard. So I tried Raw Vegan and didn't eat enough fat or nuts or anything really. I messed up pretty bad...
Before all that I was Paleo with eggs added...but that didn't work either.
To me there is nothing more satisfying than a thick cut of beef seared over wood and bloody in the middle, nothing at all. Once I gave up an d gave in to what I realllllllly want and like it was easy to see I really wanted pure clean foods and if i have to cheese it up to eat it, well...I don't it.
Will it work for you, I have no idea....I hope so, it's kinda lonely over here:P
