Medifast

Hi all,
Just starting this thread for those interested in lowcarbing with Medifast.
I'm doing the 5-1 plan. That is 5 Medifast meals and One lean green meal. The lean green meal is 5-7 ounces of meat with a salad. Medifast is low carb, low calorie and low fat.

I started yesterday. I've never been too good with sticking with any plan, but am determined now to do it. I'm not getting any younger. I will most likely alternate Medifast with Atkins on week-ends to keep from getting bored. This really worked with DH. He lost great and wasn't diet fatiqued.

It is great to wake up to 180. That's 5 pounds since I started on the 11th.

Yesterday I did
3 medifast meals
one whey shake and 7 ounces of chicken
plus 6 big jalapeno
and garlic stuffed olives

Wow gab! that's encouraging and inspirational.....How's about jumping in here with me and finish the job.... If you get bored, just switch it up with atkins or stillmans.

Don't know Stillman's.

Did atkins twice before, and plan to transition back to it soon as I stop buying the meals from medifast.

Need to watch myself though, I really don't want to gain it back again like the other times

Gab, when I think about the time frame you lost in, it's amazing. About 7 months = about 80 pounds. I could be gaining weight in that time frame,,,,or just maintaining. The time will pass any way, lose or gain or stay the same.

I am pumped, because if I lose like you did, I will be at my goal in 5 months. I want to be 130. But I've been at this place most of my adult life. Hey I'm heading down.......I'm done with this pussyfooting around. I'm heading down.

I'm brand-new to these boards, but I have been on Medifast since Jan. 4 of this year. I'm down 50 lbs., with 15 left to lose. I love the plan and stick to it about 95% -- I always weigh and measure my lean & green, and stick to the approved lists, drink enough water, etc. but I don't really count condiments. As long as my carbs are between 80-95, I don't worry about limiting myself to 3 condiments.

How does Atkins differ from Medifast, for you? Are you allowed more fatty proteins? (Oh, how I miss bacon!) I made a commitment to myself to follow Medifast all the way through transition to maintenance, but I like learning what others are doing.

Hey FatnissEverden,
What a great weight loss you've got going there with Medifast.

Well when my husband is off work I like to indulge a bit. Atkins is great, you can have cheese fattier meat and some lowcarb veggies. I try to stay away from too much fat for health reasons, but I do allow some on the Atkins days. And yes,,,,,bacon too. I am going to stick with this plan of alternating Atkins/Stillmans/Medifast until I reach goal. I have enough variety to keep me from cheating. I have about 60 pounds to lose.

You will enjoy this site. A lot of different approaches and nice folks.

My shipment of Medifast came in today, and I'm really looking forward to trying the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. These are both whey based which is better for me than the soy based protein. Thyroid issues.

Well here's to getting back on plan and changing my weigh in date to Friday......In other words I ate way off plan and am avoiding the scale till Friday. That gives me some recovery time....

How are you doing Gab and Fatniss.....

I just got a new box of Medifast and will try the Mashed potatoes or mack and cheese tonight...

Wow, gab, that's fantastic! 90 lbs. gone!

It'stime, thanks for the info about Atkins. I hope you like the new MF items you ordered. I love the mashed potatoes. They're great as is, but sometimes I add 2 Tbsp. of Egg Beaters and 2 Tbsp. of shredded low-fat cheese from my Lean (and 1/2 cup water) and make a waffle.

My weight has been fluctuating from 149.6 to 149.0 for about 10 days, so I'm going to email my daily food log to my health coach for the next three days. I'm getting frustrated because I still have 10-15 lbs. to lose. I did just get a Callanetics DVD in the mail (which I read about on these boards), so maybe I will start that today.

Turns out I have gall stones. So lean and green and plain is best for me. Great way (ha) to push me back on plan 100%. I might start clucking soon from all the chicken. Cluck cluck!

this is when throwing in a Stillmans day would break the stall. I'm not speaking of my own experience but my hubby. I personally need to stick with Medifast for a while with no deviation. Just to get some stability in my dieting.

Just a few thoughts from the peanut gallery. You and gab are both making me want to stick with the medifast and get this show on the road. The family is talking about a cruise in November....I'd love to be at my goal by then

Well those stones don't like to much fat in the diet. Am I right Gab?

my triglycerides don't like to much fat,,,,,but I do. But being healthy is more important, except when on vacation

Sorry to hear that Dillyrey. But if you want to get rid of it, some peeps sell it on craigslist or ebay. That way you can cut your losses.

It does stink to hate a product you've bought a lot of and don't like

I hadn't heard of Stillman's, so I just googled it. I don't like meat all that much, but I can do anything for a day, right? Maybe I will give it a try if I'm still stuck next week.

dillyrev, I second the suggestion of selling your MF stash on ebay or craigslist. (Unless you have any cream soups, then I'll gladly buy them from you!)

gab, sorry about the gallstones! yikes!

Hi all - seems rapid weightless often leads to gall stones. So joy . I've been basically stalled all month because I had been eating off plan so much. Lost 6 lbs this week now that I am back on track.

Frances - I don't remember how much were you hoping to lose?
Fatniss- with all your activity maybe you need to up your water intake?

I third the selling on eBay . If you have eggs you will make a killing since they have been out of stock for months.

Hi All,
Gab, I've never tried the eggs. My hubby got sick of those so is put a bad stigma in my mind about them. But I will try them someday.

Well I went out to dinner with a friend, so today is a Atkins day for me. I did a turkey salad and tonight I'm gonna have a lot of hot thighs. I have some cukes I may have too.

Well I will be flipping back and forth between Atkins, Stillmans and Medifast. I do love meat, but I get sick of it,,,,and I love variety and medifast offers that. So be it. all of these diets have worked great for a lot of folks and since they are all low carb, I know that works best for me.

Have you guys ever gone on a cruise before?

when you guys are following the plan pretty good, do you stick to the 3 hour timeline?

I've been thinking of using that even with my Atkins and Stillmans days. I bet it would also trigger more weight loss

Well my day usually flows something like: (when I am working)

7 am. Synthroid and bottle of water, coffee black w/ sweetner
8:30 am - first meal usually oatmeal
10 - second meal
12:15 - third meal and maybe some almonds
3-4 - fourth meal
5:30 lean and green meal
8:30 fifth meal.

I think when I was doing atkins induction those times were approx the same though Imtried to break up my carbs in a 5:5:8:2 pattern.
