I'm New!

Hi! I am moving into CAD as an attempt to both maintain my weight AND lose some more weight.

I lost 25 pounds doing hcg, and then moved into LCHF for maintenance in mid June. After a month or so, I started enjoying 1 carb night per week, doing the Carb Nite Solution plan. I'm a teacher, and started back to work last week. It's EASY a to do LC breakfast and pack a lunch, but hard to do dinner with no carbs--especially since I have 2 teenage sons and a husband who LOVE dinner every night...

So I'm trying CAD. I prefer the original idea of a RM....I don't want to obsess over 1/3, 1/3, 1/3. Last night I had tomato soup and a grilled cheese, with a tiny bit of ice cream. Know that isn't balanced, but I feel like I would eat MORE if I tried to balance it, which feels counter productive for weight loss. I do know that an unbalanced RM doesn't send me into a carb frenzy.

Anyone else following the original CAD with more relaxed RM rules?

GeorgiaGirl!
I follow the original CAD and when I stay on plan, I consistently lose 1/2 to 1 lb per week. I've been off plan most of this past week Saw a little gain due to sodium and adult beverages over the weekend. I find the original, relaxed plan suits me and my lifestyle perfectly. I have lost almost 6 inches since May and it really shows in the way my clothes fit. I've lost about 6 lbs too, but I keep finding them on a Monday morning. I know I can do better, but I'm enjoying my summer right now.

I try to not stress and complicate my plan and have no problem keeping my carbs to my one hour RM. It definitely works when I work with it.

That's my plan, to have a light but somewhat unbalanced RM. I am going to try to focus my RM carbs on either savory or sweet, because I think if I have both regularly, I will overdo it.

I've done it before and lost about 10# This time I need to lose closer to 20# But I'm just now restarting.

Well, I did really good at the church festival yesterday....only thing outside of the RM was a half of a wine cooler and a 3 inch long cannoli....I skipped the roast corn (that was hard to do!) and a few of the other festival foods. So far no fluid retention which really makes me happy!

I had dental work this morning so the next several days will be interesting...soft foods only. Protein shakes, cottage cheese, sf pudding, eggs, soups, etc.

So I don't know if I'll actually have meals that will be RMs for a while....I'll see how things go.

I also would say that is how I lose if I stick to plan. Sticking to plan is the problem right now But I have lost inches, even when not sticking to plan.

Sticking to plan Monday thru Friday is a breeze for me. It's these weekends that are getting me lately. If I stay home, no problem. If I go to the beach, or visit friends, or whatever...well you know

I have this same issue! Thankfully, I'm not going to be traveling for a couple weeks, so hopefully I can get on the right track and create some good habits. Also my husband and I are going to try to walk 3 miles a day until our cruise in October. We started yesterday and it felt really good. Now just to keep at it!

*Down 1.2# from yesterday, but still over my tag by 2#**

I'm up this morning but I'm pretty sure it's from the meds I have to take right now. I always bounce up a bit when I have to take ibuprofen (prescription) and antibiotics. Another day of soft foods for me....not very exciting but will figure something out.

149.2 this morning and a new low. That's -2.8 from last Wednesday. Not bad at all for a week of eating good food. I have no weekend plans to trip me up, so I hope I can stay in the 140's this time.

I hear you "when on plan" so far, this week I've done pretty well. On plan all the time, except for one cocktail last night outside of RM.

Doing well this week, I think I have had a little too much cheese (and too many nuts to be honest), that is usually one of my problems (triggers for overeating) when I don't lose regularly. Soooo I'm going to have cut out the nuts and cheese for a while, to get past this stall.

As for our daily 3 mile walk, my husband is doing even better than me! He is on track this week, he didn't miss a day! I missed Tuesday because we were busy in the evening, and I didn't get up early and get it done. So yesterday I did 4.6 to make up some, and I will make up the rest this week.

We have 2 treadmills next to each other in the basement in front of a tv with a dvd player. It's kind of fun to go for a "walk" together, it was pretty hot yesterday, so we didn't feel like going outside.

Our cruise is coming up FAST!!! October 4th, I can't wait!!! We both want to look and feel better for our vacation

Which Facebook group? I want to be in the FB group!

On another note, I think I have found my solution--I am skipping breakfast as described in plan D of the original CAD book. Finally I am seeing SLIGHT downward movement. Not enough to get excited about and say I'm actually losing, but enough that I think I'm about to see a loss. Since I was strict low carb before starting, I am not surprised to see that initial gain from reintroducing carbs, but I still don't LIKE it. I'm back to the point I was before reintroducing carbs, so it's ALL going to be loss from here on out.

Seriously, I'll be happy...no, make that ECSTATIC...with a pound loss per week. That'll be 20 by Christmas!!!!

Stayed steady at 148.6 until this morning. I had Chinese for RM yesterday and the sodium got me. Showing a 3lb gain overnight, but I know it's not a true gain. I expect to level off by tomorrow morning. Green tea day

There are two facebook groups I found. Just search for "carbohydrate addict" in the search field. They should show up for you.

WOE: CAD/CALP maintenance since March 2014
Start Date: October 2013
Hi, everyone!

I had no idea I'd been MIA for almost a month. Granted, it's been a stressful month full of horrible changes at work and a week of family visiting here, but I've been able to mostly keep it together. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to keep working at this job, but that's a story for another day.

I weighed 109.6 today, which is almost two pounds up from my low weight but still under my goal weight. As TOM is on the horizon, I'm feeling okay with it. I'm still following the same plan with 3-4 days during the week where I eat my "usual" RM of sandwich, chips, and cookies and then eat a LC meal at night of chicken and broccoli. The other days of the week I usually have one or two cheat days and then have days where I follow the plan but don't eat my usual meal for the RM.

State of the Union:

Six months at maintenance weight!

How are all of you?

Hi gals, I'm back. Took a break to go vegan/fruitarian and gained. I didn't let it get out of hand though. I am still under 110. I was 108.5 today but don't ever want to experience hunger and bloating like that again. I am now eating a cm and a rm dinner. Still running every day. I started getting these heart arhthmias on the fruit and it scared me. I would have a big fruit smoothie and my heart would go all wacko racing and such. I having had that at all on CAD. It may be the quick insulin release or something . Anyway I'm here to stay. Prolly have the biggest appetite on the board from what I have seen and a real sweet tooth.
