Hi, nice to see this thread active! I'm thinking about trying CAD for maintenance, and since I'm going out of town next week I thought this was a good time to start.

I lost most of my weight this last year following LCHF, and I'm very comfortable with that, but I remember being successful with CAD 20 years ago or so ( too bad I didn't stick with it!) I still have my book, so I'm rereading it now

I've been doing intermittent fasting along with low carb, and will probably continue with CAD, which I see fits with plan D-- though I usually have coffee with heavy cream as breakfast--I think that's ok.

We went to Olive Garden last night for first reward meal-- it was pretty good but so cold in there, it wasn't very relaxing and I ate too fast. Scale is up 1 pound but I know that averaging is what matters.

Anyway, hope it works as a maintenance plan for me !

I am holding steady, but not losing.....

195.5 again this morning.

Not eating totally on plan, and not excercising as much as I should. Just exhausted at the end of each day....

But trying to get re-motivated. That is what this site is good at helping with

Up a few ounces this morning but it's because I had a few drinks last night. I'm gonna enjoy life while doing CAD, and if that means I'm up a pound or two every now and then, so be it. Not enough to stress over and I know it'll come right back down. I refuse to never enjoy myself because I can't eat or drink certain things ever again. Otherwise, I'd still be on Atkins. I will not let a DIET control my life

Good luck to everyone here. Don't give up!

Holding's not a bad thing! Keep at it and you'll gradually, naturally cut back. It just happened to me. Hang in there!

Coffee with cream is fine for breakfast on CAD!

149.4 this morning. Eating home grown tomatoes for CM's every day. Stuffed with a little bit of chicken salad, just sliced with salt, tomato and cucumber soaked in Italian Dressing, and even had a tomato sandwich yesterday. I was afraid the bread would hurt because it was outside my RM (ooops), but it didn't. Whew!
RM's lately are filled with protein, potatoes, bread, and lots of chocolate.

Hi everyone,

I'm floundering. Tomorrow (Tuesday), I'm going to re-commit to the CAD program. I have seen many here say they are doing CAD for maintenance... If I can just think like that, maintenance for life - hopefully the weight will follow. I'm going to do "clean" CAD eating on my CMs this week and test it out...

Allie, I don't think of CAD as being on a "diet". I actually think of it as a change to my meal routine. It's easier for me that way. If I think of it as a diet, I'm gonna cheat. It's very easy for me to try to eat healthier most of the day since I've added in a CM every now and then, knowing I can eat whatever I want for my RM. I have also considered changing my goal weight to where I am now. Not because I lost the numbers I wanted to lose, but because I lost enough inches that I fit in the clothes I wanted to fit in, perfectly.
I tried not to stress over CAD and think "diet" every day. I didn't complicate it. I didn't over-think it. I took it day by day, following the original book and food lists as much as possible in the beginning, but I did end up adding things like unsweetened almond milk and pork rinds. And for me... It worked!
If I continue to lose, doing it my way, that's great! If I maintain, that's also great. I do know that eating this way is NOT causing me to gain and I am so very, very happy with my choices.
I wish you much luck and hope you don't give up. I know you can do it!

This morning, 194.0 Sometimes I think we all need an injection of Hope. The scale dropping a little has helped me a little in that area.

We have abundant sweet corn right now, so 2 small ears once each day.
Last night, had a meeting with meal, so beef patty, green beans, small cheesy potato and a roll. Small portions, so really not that worried about it.

Thursday night, have a focus group of female entreprenuers. New thing. Not sure what it will be, or what "light meal" means when going to these things.
Daily sabatoges, so just deal with it, right?

Hope you all have good eating today!!

Karegado - thank you so much! That is a great way to approach this lifestyle!!! I'm at the point where I just want to feel better. I have had the highs and lows of sugar imbalance lately because of eating the wrong foods... with CAD that doesn't happen, and I feel better. Here's to making this a lifestyle!!

I'm going to start posting some meal plans to keep accountable. Up 2# from when I fell off.

Feeling very positive today!

B: Scrambled eggs
Iced coffee (black) going to try to have it black, because there is no way I can enjoy my coffee in 15 minutes.

L: Low carb chicken salad.

D: Mexican restaurant with a friend, ??? they have such good food here, the challenge will be to keep it to 1 hour. Going to have no more than 2 margaritas!

Also I'm leaving for a long weekend tomorrow. I think I can keep it in check with CAD goals.

Use your RW for the meeting with ladies! That's the beauty of CAD, you can morph it carefully to your daily needs w/o anyone s on the lossknowing, w/o having to make a big deal. Congrats on the loss!!!!! See??!! SOme pple lose a little each wk, some do a big drop every few. Just stay faithful and steady and try to enjoy the way of life. The RWs are a perfect way to enjoy that corn. I would have 3 a day if i were you!! (followed by a sundae!)

Welcome back Nicole. I now do unsweetened almond milk(less than 1 carb) in my coffee and don't stress about the 15 minutes. I'm a slow drinker.

Hang in there ladies
I'm was at 152.0 this morning. Yesterday I ate an entire bag of pizza flavored combos and a ton of candy corn. Lotsa salt in those combos

I've behaved today

Thanks, it feels good to be back. I had tried calorie counting for a few weeks, and it was driving me CRAZY!! Do you count calories at all?

I LOVE COMBOS!!! I can imagine eating a whole bag, and candy corn is good too! Thank for keeping it real and honest. You'll get back to where you were in no time!

Good idea on the almond milk. I don't mind that.

Very interesting!! I like the idea of having a savory or sweet RM. Ok, I don't really "like" the idea, but I think you're onto something there. I think when I have both, I can get a little out of control. This is something I'm going to try to put into practice, and see if I can get my RM more in control.

I never count calories. When I first started I did, but only to see what my meals were like. I eat between 1200 and 2300 on average. It's never the same and I stay very full and satisfied. Like I have said, I try to not complicate my plan. The less I worry, the easier it is for me to stay on plan. I don't count anything except the 60 minutes

I know I could do better, be more strict, and lose more weight but I am enjoying eating this way for now. It has helped me drop a few pounds and a lot of inches!

Once summer & college football season is over, I will most likely get serious and change things up a bit before the holidays. Ugh, the holidays

Down 2 pounds... Off to a good start. Going to stay away from the scale for a while since it plays tricks on my mind!! Glad to see it's going in the right direction. That was all I needed to keep going with CAD lifestyle.

Congrats and need for hope...

Hey Ladies, congrats on your losses. I came on vacation last friday and finished my TOM, starting the 12 days at the beach at 141.7. Goal was to stay on plan (brought my scale) and lose 2 lbs cuz i had gained the wk before from water retention and carb cravings that could kill a rhino.

Anyway had time to eat very litte on friday, packing and traveling and all. Saturday ate a gd RM with pizza and beer, had a plain hot dog and then seemed to come down with a stomach bug and couldn't eat much Sunday and MOnday. Great news was that i not only broke 140 bu 139 and weighed in on MOnday at 139.7, reaching my goal and making putting on a bathing suit much more pleasant. Bad thing is that i shot way back up by 3 lbs over the following days and i stayed on plan except for one low carb alcoholic drink on a very low carb day. However, i had high calorie RW's. Very discouraging... The Hellers said as long as you stay in your hour and keep CMs as they should be, there should be no counting. I'm so bummed out. I can count calories and carbs and cut down a ton on any plan and lose like i did last saturday. If you don't eat, you'll lose wt anyhow. I feel like i lost some momentum and am having a hard time getting hope back in the plan. I'm gonna keep at it but any words of wisdom or experience that you all may have to offer would be appreciated. I was so excited to see 139.7 and even 140. 6 after 6 wks (only down 6 lbs in that time). At 142. 7 i have barely lost 5 lbs!!

Only 3 days left on vacation...

One last thing. Does anyone seem to gain during ovulation?

jan

Still plugging along...finally seem to have lost all the fluid retention I've been having for the last several weeks.

Today's challenge is we'll be eating 2 meals at one of the local church festivals. I think I have it planned so one meal is a CM and the other is my RM. Hopefully it will all work out!

Having dental surgery tomorrow so I imagine I'll be limited to soft foods for a few days, at least. I have most everything I need for the next few days....won't really be doing any RMs while I'm limited to soft foods....well maybe I'll have some homemade ice cream!

Today was totally back on-plan CAD. Tonight we have company coming with sloppy joes and all the soft-serve ice cream we can eat......

Been talking myself out of eating all afternoon. BF was coffee, and lunch was early ribeye steak.

D: (Plan) Mexican gumbo

Yesterday, I stayed on plan all day. That is first time in quite some time.

This morning, eggs and sausage with cheese and no coffee..........

Not sure what lunch plan is, but trying to stay on plan.

Good luck to everyone else. (Maybe you guys don't depend on luck....in my world, sometimes I need some)
