I also am looking for my "nitch".
I am down one lb for my first week, however I am not balancing my meals yet.
Honestly I dont want to be that stirct on myself until I have to.
I found atkins to be way to restrictive for me....so after about 2-3 weeks I crashed and burned and gained it all back.
I really feel CAD is a way of life I can do.
I am just going into it slowly and only weighing every other day to avoid gettting discouraged.
So far I have already noticed that high salt meals make me go up a lb or so of water weight.

Anway.....WELCOME the message board definitely is helping me learn and stay motivated.

I actually saw 106 this weekend as well. I have been successfully maintaining at goal for two months, and while I don't balance my RMs now, I balanced them during the weight loss phase whenever possible.
Ok...I see. wow, you lost weight pretty fast.
That's inspiring!!
I have been having one CM of shake and cucumber about 9am, then I have my RM around 3pm, right before I leave work. At night I have a splenda lemonade slushy (homemade). And thats it So far I dont feel deprived.
I also cook dinner for my boyfriend and his 6 year old son. I then use that food to pack my Rm for the next day. I am not doing the "balanced" Rm yet... I am definitely still in love with my carbs and sweets, however I have noticed my appetite going down!!!! I have 75lbs to lose so I am hoping to get atleast 30lbs off before I have to start balancing.

i love you guys' posts!!! 106 that is AWESOME!!!!!!!!
i am 5'4 and have a very wide frame... so 150-165 is my ultimate goal weight.

I was surprised that I actually lost more quickly on CAD than I did on Atkins/ketogenic diets. I thought that was the fastest way to lose. The lowest I weighed on keto was 113, and it took me several months longer to lose to that point than it did on CAD.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's experienced her appetite going down! That is one of the best parts about the diet for me. I know that I don't have to count calories, but I'm just not as hungry as I used to be, and smaller portions make me feel stuffed now. I do think that it's the mental result of knowing that I can have any food I want on any day I want. I'm sure it doesn't work for anyone, but it has completely changed the way I eat in 8 months. Here's hoping it lasts!

For my first week I was down 1.2 lbs total....granted at my weight maybe it should have been 2-3 lbs, but I had one bad day (birthday party) adn just thinking back at all the food I ate.... AMAZING. I have also noticed I am not as groggy in the mornings and I sleep better at night. Have you experienced this?
Also, did you exercise more/less when you did CAD? I am walking a little more this week and am trying to work in the yard more.

Exercise/ Sweetners/Caffiene....Advice

Can you guys give me your experiences with CAD/CALP as far as, did your weight loss stall if you had splenda or stevia with your CM's or in drinks throughout your day?
The book isnt really specific on sweetners or diet soda.

Exercise = how many of you exercised when you started CAD/CALP??
What exercise?
How often?

Hi everyone,
Had a bad day yesterday and ate a lot. ( family stuff )
Up 2 pounds today

I had pizza, macaroni salad( which I don't even like) you know your
having a bad day when you eat stuff you don't even like.
Also a grab bag of chips, 2 small bags of hot peanuts

We'll on a good note I found 3 of the Hellers books at the thrift store.

THE CARBOHYDRATE ADDICT'S LIFESPAN PROGRAM
THE 7 DAY LOW- CARB RESCUE AND RECOVERY PLAN
THE CARBOHYDRATE ADDICT'S NO CRAVINGS COOKBOOK

When I went to pay they told me it was 1/2 off all books.
I like to go and look thru the books. A while back I found the
original 72 Atkins hard cover, it was old but still in good shape.

Well I'm going to be really good today and back on my plan.
May do some reading on the books as it is raining.

Thanks Cookie!
So far today I've only had a cup of black coffee.

I haven't been exercising, but I need to. When I loose my weight
I want to be tone not flabby. I really like to lift weights more than
aerobic exercise.

I am just trying to fit into all my clothes again!!!
I wish I was more into weights, cardio has always been my exercise of choice.
I just power walk though or do the elliptical.
Toned is pretty much not for me
Are you doing the CAD/CALP program or just limiting your carb intake?

Just had Moe's for lunch ...chicken burrito...chips...a little chocolate.
Delicious RM.
I can not believe how much I am able to eat keeps dropping!
Before I could have ate all of that and then some... I feel stuffed.

Cant wait for my weigh in.
I love the one meal a day with just a protein shake for breakfast or dinner when I need it.
I still cant believe this works.

Hey Cookie,
That lunch sounds good! I love Mexican food.

No I'm not doing CAD, I just eat one meal a day( dinner) and 2 meals
Lunch and dinner on the weekend.
I'm on my second week doing this. I do moderate my carbs during the week
but I'm not to strict with myself especially if I go out to eat.
On the weekends I pretty much eat what I want.

I'm going to read the Carbohydrate addicts book to find out more.
I think during the week I'm pretty much already doing it.
I would have to be better I think on the weekend. Like just having
one carb meal not two.

I'm not sure if I want to follow a strict program. Do you follow
the diet on the weekend also?
After Atkins I am loving doing my own thing
I'm hoping that this will be what works for me.

Yeah, you are pretty much doing the diet already, except you are skipping breakfast and lunch (little carbs). Which is pretty much exactly what I do...One meal, every day, except I eat whatever I want within one hour, and my meal is at lunch time. When I plateau I will switch to a more balanced lower carb meal.

It is definitely more relaxed and easier than Atkins....Atkins wore me down and broke me

good morning everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My RM today is homemade BBQ sandwhiches on hawaiin bread and a brownie I made for my family last night.

I am having a CM at dinner, which will be a protein shake and cucumber.

Random thought of the week....... I am REALLY starting to see how moms lose weight when they have kids.
Ever since my boyfriend and his 6 year old moved in....I am constantly on my feet, even when I REALLY want to be lazy. And now I have someone to teach how to garden I didnt sit down till about 9pm last night, I used to just come home and veg out with my dogs.... I guess those days are over.

As far as "finding my niche" it is working out really well having my RM for lunch and one or no CM for dinner. I get home about 2hrs before them, I cook dinner, which I use to pack my lunch for the next day. No matter how delicious it looks...I tell myself "You can have it for lunch tomorrow".

Also yesterday I walked two times on my work break.

Tacos are definitely on my RM list.
That sounds delicious.
However, I NEVER can pick out a ripe avacado to save my life

Hi, everyone!

I'm so glad to see activity on the board picked up! I'm going to be posting rarely for the next few weeks because we're closing on our new house today, and there's a lot of painting, landscaping, and moving to be done. I'll keep updating my average weekly weight every week and say hello whenever I can!

Cookie Crazy - where in Florida are you? I'm in St. Augustine. I have also collected the heller books from the thrift store.

I do original CAD and I don't balance. If I get a meal out - I try to choose one "wet" veggie (low carbish), but I definitely don't follow the 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 rule. I never have, and I've had success when stringing together many days of CAD. I just need to get back with the program!!

Yesterday's RM was salisbury steak, green beans, scalloped potatoes, 2 honey buns, and a roll, and I am down .6 today...

Today's RM was country fried steak, gravy, green beans, scalloped potatoes, roll, and apple fritter... I had a honey bun available, but I wasn't hungry for it. I saved it for another day.

I can't wait to see what the scale does tomorrow!! LOL

Hi all,
Well I read some of the book and a lot of what was written
in the beginning of the thread. I must say I like the fact
that I can have a small protein meal also.

I was only eating the one meal for dinner at 5 pm.
I was finding it hard to get back into exercise without some protein
after my workout. It will be nice to have a little protein about an hour
afterwords.

It's also not much different than the way I was eating.

So, I might have some questions along the way.

I will not be doing the 1/3 balancing, just eating what I want at the
one meal. I'll have to get better on the weekends, eating the 1 RM.
Maybe I won't gain that 2 pounds I always do on Monday:/

Ok,
I have a question already, how many grams of protein
at my CM meal. I will probably only eat 1 CM meal
then my RM for dinner.

I am in Tallahassee. My RM are not balanced either....I want to see how much I can lose this way before I go balanced. I often skip CM because I have noticed that they sometimes make me hungry or fill gross. LOL. My CMs are usually just a protein shake and cucumber anyway. I am roughly on day 10is and I am down about 2.6lbs!!!! I love staying on this diet. I feel alot more alert and lighter. I have noticed I have been sleeping better as well and have more energy.
That Rm sounds amazing!!! My Rm is lunch and today it is blackened chicken alfredo with apples and caramel dip . I also started walking on both of my 15 minute breaks.
I have noticed my appetite shrinking too!!! What a great side effect

I believe my protein for my CMs, when I do eat them is roughly 10 grams (protein shake).

Thanks Cookie,
Does anyone switch RM between lunch and dinner. I read your
not supposed to but I go out to lunch with my son
and eat lunch so I would like to switch on some days.
I hate low carb when I go out to eat.

Wow 2.6 pounds in 10 days is great Cookie!
So proud of you

i don't often switch because i prefer to have my meal before 1 pm, but unless doing this is a matter of life and death, why not? it's not a race. life goes on. life throws in variables. that said, unless switching derails you, i wouldn't be so hard on yourself.

at my highest weight, i was super strict about keeping at the same time, day in and day out. now that i look back, i shouldn't have been so stern.

no two days are alike. just keep on keeping on. every day is a new day. every day is fresh.
