Thanks for the challenge, I'd like to join ...

30lbs would put me at 157.8 wow that looks good. I weighed in this morning at 187.8 at 3lbs drop from 10/13. First day low carb/Atkins yesterday and 35 minutes on the treadmill did me good

SW 187.8
GW 157.8

I would need to lose 2.6lbs a week for 12 weeks which would give me a loss of 31.2lbs. In 2010 I did this in 3 months so let's see how well I do this go around.

Welcome love2b136

I've weighed in again this morning after my Down day yesterday and I'm back down to 202.2 so going to attempt another down day today (Yes, I know you're not supposed to do them back to back but what the hell!) to get me back to 201.4 like I was before I fell off the wagon at the end of last week.

Feeling super duper motivated now, keep reading success stories which I think gives me the kick up the butt I need!

Only a half day for me today then I've got a load of errands to run, stuff to take to the post office and shopping to get then over to my Mother-in-laws coz she's not been very well and she's feeling a bit fed up so going for a brew with her x

Well I am still here, hovering around 220-221. My clothes are fitting better though and I am doing CAD so I can't complain about the food.

I had cake, banana bread and chocolate covered almonds close to midnight last night
I'm up a half a pound but it's more the diet fatigue that is setting in. Feeling blah. Been a busy couple of weekends and just burned out right now. So blah, I am not having a continued binge which is good I suppose.

Hopeully the funk will pass.

Thanks love2b136,

Not as bad today. I woke up and was 130...so yay. I've noticed that after a while of low carb a cheat meal (albeit and unplanned midnight raid) sometimes has this effect. Who knows? I'll take it. Was going to go for a walk but it's raining. Got myself a cup of tea and have the fireplace working. Life's not bad at this moment.

Cheers all.

Well, that's not bad for a midnight raid.

How long did it take you to eat everything? I don't know if I mentioned it here, but my latest diet effort is the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet. There are some twists, but very basically it is low carb all day, then one meal, finished within one hour, of whatever you want (they don't recommend an hour of hot fudge sundaes, but a "normal" meal).

The idea is to keep your insulin under control. LC all day keeps it down, and then eating within one hour controls what is released when you eat carbs. They say you get one "wave" of insulin when you begin eating, then another after an hour if you are still eating. Keeping it to one "wave" per day controls how much fat can be stored and being able to eat your favorites every day keeps people on the diet.

The book has been out since the early 90s and it was my first foray into low carb. I thought it didn't work well for losses, but I think I may have been too impatient. I sure ate well since I focused on that one meal. I figured I would give it another go since I haven't been able to stick to anything else lately.

Hi Gina,

It was about an hour or so. Going to do an egg fast type thing for a few days. I've been having too many sweeteners in everything and am kind of saturated with fake food. Need a break from it. I noticed more cravings too and back up to 130. Eesh. Going to report back at end of Oct.

I finally have a pound to report

I tried CAD, but it just didn't work for me. They suggest averaging your weights for the week and comparing the averages since you can have so much fluctuation and losses are typically slow. I did that, lost 1 and gained 3 lbs.

Sunday I woke up and decided I didn't have anymore patience with CAD and went straight old-timey low carb. I lost the two lbs and was down another as of this morning.

I was looking for something else because LC has left me stalled in the past, but it should work for a while and keep me from gaining. I have some allergy issues and am looking at an elimination diet to try, but I'll stick with LC until I am ready for that.

Start weight: 221. CW: 220

ETA: I looked back and noticed I lost and posted about that one stupid pound already. Hopefully I'll have a new pound soon.

Gina...I've been there girl....stalling is so frustrating!! Like you, I was successful in the past doing LC, but looks like we had similar issues maintaining. Have you thought about JUDDD? My DH and I are almost a month in, and I love it. I am sticking to 400-500 on fast days, and it is amazing how I don't even notice anymore. I have to admit that the first week or so was really hard, but now it's easy. Today, I've only had about 200 cals so far, and I feel great, and not hungry. Tomorrow, I get to basically eat whatever I want. I am so used to staying clear of carbs, that I am still not quite used to this. Have lost 7 lbs in 4 weeks, and DH has lost 15.
Plus I really feel like this is an easy lifestyle to maintain afterwards. The biggest problem with LC is that you always feel deprived. Let's face it.....carbs are DELICIOUS!!! I want to be able to eat popcorn at the movies or have pizza, a big bowl of pasta, or apple pie for dessert. On JUDDD, you can still do that, but just every other day (and preferrably not all on one day!!!). And you still lose weight!
There is tons of info in the JUDDD forum JUDDD - Low Carb Friends.
You might want to give it a try.....it may get you out of your stall.
Good luck and keep evicting those lbs!
Johanna

I did do JUDDD. Pretty successfully for a while too back when it was just a thread on the "Other Plans" board, but I wound up stalled on it too.

One negative thing that happened with JUDDD was the reintroduction of carby foods. For years before JUDDD I just flat didn't eat that stuff. I started again on my up days and it was OK as long as I was losing, but once I stalled and had to cut them out to keep losing I kind of figured "What's the point?" and I have been fighting to get rid of sweets since then.

I don't blame JUDDD. It is a good plan for many people, and it may have been for me too if I had been more patient. The DDs were hard for me though. Too hard to keep up with nothing to show for it.

-12.4 So far.

Nope not easy. I've had 3 days in the duration with off plan meals where I pretty much ate whatever I was craving. So, cheat meals I guess. I try to fight the guilt the day following. It's not intense or anything just a little regret for the delay it costs me. On the other hand it keeps me sane. So, my mantra is "It never happened." It sounds silly but it works for me.

-14.8 lbs so far in this challenge. 4 cheat meals in the duration. But I made the last one smaller and more controlled as in 2 or 3 bites of stuff I was wanting.
I'm walking a lot. My dog is the gym. Some days are easy and some days are not. Just trying to be very determined.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I find I have to do the walking. I stayed at the same weight for a while and then started walking again and that got things moving. 9 miles yesterday. Moderate walking not speed walking.
