Good morning- Maryann, Joann and anyone else that wants to do this with us. Fall is in the air today and I am so ready to be able to get into my fall clothes. Got the social things out of the way so am really getting serious about this. I usually lose in the summer, but not this year. The scale has been going the wrong way. I am ashamed to say, but have gained over 10# in a week due to just mindless eating. So, I will just put the past behind me and look forward.
My goal for Sept. is to be in the 140's. I am going to weigh every day and just not get discouraged with fluctuations.

Hello Ladies

Hope you don't mind me tagging along with you, under doctors orders I'm restricting to 1500-1600 calories a day and get weighed every Wednesday. I started Mid-July and I've been all over the place since then only managing to lose 2 lbs overall.

Starting Weight (as of Wednesday 29th September): 198.5
Goal for September: 192

I have tried other diets, but calorie counting is what works best for me. So, I just need to stick with it.

Good morning everyone!

I think it is time for me to come back out of hiding and be accountable again. Summer has been wonderful but I was very careless about my eating so of course my weight is way up, 20 pounds from my lowest weight! I can't let this escalate any further! So here it goes...

Little up bounce today but I expected that. I am trying my luck with carb cycling, 2 days low carb and 1 day high carb and yesterday was VERY carby!

Maryann, I know what you mean about the hot weather. I had just been grabbing whatever so I didn't have to cook, too. I am prediabetic, too, so have to watch my carbs also. I am not on any meds, so really have to watch. Seems that I can get by eating more than I used to, though.

Thanks, Erika. Once you get to going on the carb cycling, I am sure you will do okay. Think your body just has to get used to a different plan. I know I am that way. Don't be discouraged with a little gain - we all have fluctuations. I hate them, but know they happen.

Genie, hope you are doing well. I have strayed several times from counting calories, and like Maryann said, it is the only way for me. I just need to realize that and stick to it.

Right now, I am doing the Simple Diet along with my counting calories and it seems to be working well for me. Have done this since Sunday and am down around 10#, but know it will slow a lot since most of this has to be water. I was like a balloon. Needs to be off anyway so I will take it.

No changes in weight for me today, put patiently plugging along! I have to do a better job with my calories, my carb ranges have been on spot but I know I have been eating too much! Got to tweak this right!

Maryann...Thank you! It is good to see you too It has been a very humid summer indeed, I spent many weekends at the beach, which would have been a good thing if I'd had left alone all the fried seafood and ice cream. Fun it was for sure though, now back to getting this weight back under control!!


Hope...You are just dumping water by the buckets!!! Way to go there!!! I am glad you feel positive again, I told you we can do this!!!


Genie... Please don't be discouraged by the scale, it's the tool of the Devil LOL. But I do know how you feel, fluctuations or no movement in the right direction is driving me nuts too. What kind of plan are you doing?

Good morning everyone. Weight stayed the same today, but I won't complain. I have had a great week and feel so much better getting rid of that water.

Erika - LOL Thanks for letting me be the queen of water retention, but a title that I would gladly give away.

Maryann - I am using the Atkins shakes some and then make my own shakes/smoothies and try to keep the calories between 100 and 200. I love this weather, too, and am getting more exercise, too. Have been walking 30 minutes in the morning and 30 in the evening and try to get outside and do yard work which helps, too.

Gina - Hang in there, the scale will start going in the right direction for you, too.

Well week one was pretty good for me. I did drop a few of those pesky water pounds so I am happy. I know next week is not going to be anywhere near this good but that is ok. Focusing on eating real foods and trying to stay away from processed foods and takeout as much as possible.

Maryann...Restaurant food is my biggest downfall, it is so full of sodium and makes me retain all the water, I had one outing where I actually weighed 12!!! pounds more the next morning and it took me forever to flush that out! I am trying to stay away from it as much as I can!

Hope...Sorry I couldn't resist! But you have to see that from a positive side, it is water, NOT fat!!!

Guess I will make my goal for September at 145. Surely that is doable, but we will see.

Erika, you have had an awesome week and off to a great start. Congrats!! You are so right - glad it is water and not fat - comes off quicker so that is a plus.

I think we are all in the same boat with water retention. I have always had a problem with it, but seems that as I have gotten older, it has been worse.

Maryann, I am the same with restaurant eating. I love to go out for Chinese and that really makes me balloon. So depressing that they put so much sodium and msg in that stuff.

Gina, hope you are doing well.

D - Atkins bar (don't like to eat often but special treat for Sat night rather than restaurant and can eat on the run)

I have been exercising quite a bit this week - walking every day for an hour and then doing some exercises with my ball. Think that has helped me, too.

Congrats, Maryann, on the 2#. Think I was posting when you were. You are off to a great start.

I make super easy shakes - almond milk, frozen fruit (blueberries, peaches, strawberries, bananas) , a little protein powder with a little flavoring in my processer and ready to go. They are low calorie plus they are a large serving. I love to put my Atkins ones in the freezer and get them really chilled before I drink them, too. I think that makes them more tasty.

Looks like everyone had a good week! Way to go on the losses I am trying to keep busy here to avoid all the mindless snacking throughout the day, did lots of cleaning and then shopping where I purposely walked around...and around for hours! The weekends always seem to get me so today I am really trying to toughen it out and for once not use snacking as a weekend activity

WOE: Not low carb, but low crap
Good morning everyone!

No change in weight, I guess drinking water up to my eyeballs didn't make a difference . Still all good though because I made it through the weekend without eating everything in sight!

Goal Weight for September=177 pounds


Week One-5.8 lbs lost--187-181.2

Sunday 9-8----------182.6
Monday 9-9----------182.6
Tuesday 9-10
Wednesday 9-11
Thursday 9-12

Saturday 9-14
