Terri, thanks for the M&E link. I'll peek in and see how everyone is doing. Good for you on the weight loss! Atkins Induction does work fast. I hope you beat the creep crud. Get plenty of fluids and rest.

Metqa, soups are what sustained me...and lots of liquids. The more liquids I drank, the better I was able to loosen the phlegm and expel it. Your soups sound yummy!

Today's Menu

B: Frozen Berries +walnuts+pumpkin seeds+pecans w/herbal tea (5/1)
L: Chicken Pizza w/veggies on Whole grain tortilla (2/2)
D: Fish stew w/ one-half ezekial bun (0/1)
S/C Total: 7/4
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: none

Still sticking with the bulk eating for breakfast. I like the little energy boost and extra long fullness that I get. I'm staying with the low sugar berries too.

I didn't weigh myself on Friday. I just didn't want to deal with the scale last week...so, I didn't. I feel so much better physically. Psychologically, I am not as motivated to be super woman. It's probably a side effect of my meds. This is a good thing.

I spent the long weekend cleaning out our pantry. Over the holidays, a lot of carbby, sugary and bad stuff found its way into our stockpile. Go figure...So, I boxed up most of it, and took it to the food bank.

Happy Tuesday,

D: Steamed fish +spinach +squash +wild rice (5/2)

I hopped onto the scale this morning, and as of today, I lost the 3 lbs that I gained back previously. Hopefully, they will stay off. I won't change my stats until Friday, tho.

Last night, I finished reading 'The Virgin Diet'...another christmas gift. Although the author lost me after stating that I should avoid eggs, I still trudged through the book until the end. I am so glad that I am doing BFC. All of these new plans are so complicated and require so many extra this or that...

BFC is still the way to go.

Happy Hump Day!

Not that hungry this morning... a light breakfast will do. I think I am more thirsty than hungry. So, I plan to drink a lot of CF tea.

It's end-of-the-year reporting at work. Got a busy day ahead.

Weigh Day

Well, I am back at 180 lbs. The up-down with the 3 lbs finally stabilized. I haven't seen this weight in a looooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg time!
That makes 82 lbs gone...that's a person in weight. Just imagine carrying around that amount of extra weight. It is mind boggling to realize that I overate myself into fat oblivion...and, I still have 40 lb more to go...

Today, I will eat light...I have a dreaded dental procedure for a root canal...and, possibly a crown. Well, it will be more liquids and soft foods for the next week, or so. I'll continue to track them on BFC and stay away from too many carbs.

Today's Menu

B: Scrambled eggs in butter and Herbal Tea (0/0)
L: Natural peanut butter + SF preserves on ezekial bread + almond milk (2/2)
D: Soup and Jello (3/2)
S/C Total: 5/4
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: none

Terri! Thanks for the kudos!

Friday's visit to the dentist went well. Thanks goes to the nitrous oxide. Man, that stuff really relaxed me, and made all of that torture...bearable. I didn't leave the dentist chair feeling worked over (too much) neither did I feel stiff the next day.

Yesterday, I ate soup and jello. I drank water, juice and tea. It was a very low BFC day.

I'll ease back into my normal meals. Here is today's menu:
B: Eggs over easy w/sausage crumbles + decaf coffee w/hwc & stevia (0/0)
L: Soup and ezekial toast (4/2)
D: Chip Beef gravy + spinach on ezekial toast +jello (3/2)
S/C Total: 7/4
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: still none

It's hump day again...and it's time to restock my BFC pantry. So, I'll head to the grocers after work. I collected a few BFC recipes from online for next week's meals. This weekend, I'll pickup on my batch cooking. Thus far, we have been winging it with the reserves left in the freezer and pantry. No complaints from DH and the kiddoes...I really don't think they know about it. As long as a meal is on the table, they are happy...well for the most part.

Here is today's menu:

B:Uncle Sam's cereal w/Almond Milk (1/2) +decaf coffee w/HWC
L: Tuna 'cakes' on lettuce +herbal tea (0/0)
D: Chicken and veggie stir fry (5/2)
S/C Total: 6/4
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 20 minutes on treadmill (a very slow start)

Happy Wednesday!

It's Weigh Day

Day

Nothing to report~ actually, I lost .4 lbs. But, I won't be able to change my stats. It is better than a gain or a stall.

Today's Menu

B: Egg & Canadian Bacon Muffin (1/2)
L: Chicken Salad in boston lettuce cups w/herbal tea (0/0)
D: Smothered Pork chops (sauteed with mushrooms) + okra (2/0)
Dessert: Jello pudding w/ decaf coffee & HWC (0/1)
S/C Total: 3/3
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 30 minutes on the treadmill

On the exercise, I plan to workout 3 times/week until Spring arrives. Then, I'll resume my 5 days/week regimen.

It's batch cooking tonight thru Saturday. Then, we will have a small Superbowl gathering on Sunday. My game plan is to stick with the meat and veggies.

Happy Super Bowl Weekend!

Go Seahawks!

Btw...love, luv my new bacon bowl! It is a.w.e.s.o.m.e.

I did very well with my eating over the weekend. 'Gotta give myself a pat on the back. My average ratio was 5/3! Plenty of meats and veggies to partake of was the success of not over doing it.

Many people at the gather are taking the "Hydrox...5" supplement to lose weight this year. They swear by it. I noticed that there are several coupons in the mailers for these supplments. I'm not going to go there. BFC is working out fine for now.

For those who did not know *and* asked about my weightloss, I shared about BFC. I have two friends who have continued with it and have seen some good success. Others were not into the cooking, counting and tracking. They moved on to something else. The new people that I discussed BFC with yesterday, were very interested because most of them only had a few pounds to lose, and loved to cook. I may have more BFC converts!

Happy Monday,

D: Steak and Oreida fries w/LS ketchup (3/2)

Water: 64 oz

BFC Tip: I haven't done one of these in a long time.

On your mobile phone or tablet, its easy to create "flashcards" of the ratios for foods that you eat fairly regularly. Or, if you are very detailed, then make an exhaustive list of foods and their associated s/c values. This comes in handy when you don't remember how many carbs or how many grams of sugar are in certain foods. Just review your "card" before you take a bite of unplanned food, etc. Then make a note of it in the same list, and tally later. This will keep you on track. It is a nice tool to have on hand.

Happy Hump Day!!

It's Weigh Day

Day!

Another small victory. I loss 0.5 lb. With last week's 0.4 loss, that makes almost one pound. I'm still in the 180's tho'. So again, I won't change my stats.

I'm still shopping my closet. I can finally fit into my spanx. I bought these several years ago when the line was relatively newish. I held onto them since they would never really go out of style. But, as it turned out I couldn't fit into them...until now! They make my clothes fit so sleek. I love the support and look.

This weekend, weather permitting, our team mom's group will do some hiking. DH and I will catch a show. Sunday dinner at my in-laws. We will make a day of it. Just a nice slow and relaxing weekend ahead...

Next week, I will continue the course on BFC.

Today's Menu
B: Egg/Spinach/Mushroom Quiche w/decaf coffee (2/0)
L: Italian Sub with small salad + LS dssg (3/2)
D: Baked Lamb chops + sauteed asparagus + steamed cauliflower (1/0)
Dessert: LC ice cream (0/2)
S/C Total: 6/4
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: none---will hike tomorrow

Happy TGIF and weekend!

B: Rocky Mountain toast (made with sprouted bread) (0/2)
L: Artichoke salad (yum!!) (0/1)
D: Baked Cod +steamed asparagus +steamed cabbage rolls (2/0)
S/C Total: 2/3--->now that is super low!
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 30 minutes on the elliptical machine

BFC tip: The great thing about BFC is that you can pretty much tailor most plans to it... just stay below the limit of 15/6 sugar grams to carb servings. It is a low carb plan, and it can be a medium carb plan. So, you can make it whatever works for you by adjusting the 15/6 ratio. Also, keep in mind that eating carbs and sugar on the plan does not give leave to eat anything that you want.

Smart BFC'ers select the whole or sprouted grain foods with the least amount of sugar and carbs. Smart BFC'ers can eat potatoes, but they do so on occasion. Smart BFC'ers enjoy 'treats, but stay within Jorge's guidelines. Even after being on BFC for this long time, I still need to refresh myself with the book from time to time. And, Smart BFC'ers can eat out or get take outs. They do their research ahead of time to calculate their S/C ratio BEFORE going.
----------

I hopped on the scale this morning just to see if I was cruising to a loss for Friday. Nope...I have not budged off of 180 lbs. Is this the dreaded plateau?

Happy Tuesday!

Exercise: 20 minute walk with the lunch group

I did a quick errand during lunch-time, and ran into an old friend that moved away several years ago. I recognized her of course. But, she did not know me because I was huge the last time that she saw me. She could not believe how much smaller I have become.

She lived on the west coast for awhile doing sitcoms. But as it seems, the 'well has run dry with getting decent parts'. So, she is taking some time to regroup. We laughed, talked about old times and exchanged contact information before parting. She gave me a good idea to ponder too...write a book on my experience--->life as an obese woman versus the life of a woman at goal. I will definitely give this some serious thought.

Next month, I will start meeting with my doctor's patient group to talk about weight loss. I've been offered a nice stipend to work with the group on a quarterly basis. By including this opportunity in a book about weight loss results, I could help so many more people. But...I need to get to goal.

Tomorrow is weigh day. Here's to a loss or par...no gains!

Happy Thursday,

That sounds like an awesome idea Karai! If you started the book today you’ll be at goal before it’s finished. And what a great way to keep focused.

Terri, I think so too. I still have a way to go to goal. Starting sooner than later will get me closer to finishing it. Plus, what another great motivator to stay on track.

I called my friend last night to find out if she had some contacts with publishers. She will call her handler, and get me some names and input on the process of getting published.

It's Weigh Day!

Day!

I lost 2 lbs. But, I have a strong suspicion, it's actually 1lb and the other pound is bits and pieces of partial pounds from previous weeks. But, you know me...I will take it. At least I am out of the 180's. That makes 84 lbs gone! I am sixteen pounds away from the century mark! Well, when I hit the 100 lb loss, I will have another party!

Since my weight loss is slowing, I will throw a new wrinkle in BFC-->carb cycling. Two days with higher S/C ratios and two days with lower S/C ratios, then re-start. Here is the plan:

Sat-Sun: 10/4 ratio each day
Mon-Tue: 0/0 ratio each day
Wed-Thu: 10/4 ratio each day
Fri: 0/0

Happy TFGI!

So far, the BFC-carb cycling is going pretty well. I really enjoyed myself over the weekend by 'upping' my ratio to 10/4 each day. I did NOT feel deprived at all. But, I don't really ever feel deprived on BFC tho'.

Monday and Tuesday have been 0/0 days. I thought it would be difficult after one day. But, not really...I am just sticking to non-starch veggies and my favorite meats.

Today's 0/0 Menu
B: 3 Turkey sausage patties + 2 boiled egg whites w/decaf coffee +HWC
L: Beef Roast + sauteed greens +'riced cauliflower' (gravy from roast)
D: Grilled Chicken breasts + grilled veggies +herbal tea w/CO
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 30 minutes on the treadmill

After work, I will meet friends at a fitness center in order to try the barre workout. Not sure this is my thing...but I'll give it a go.

Happy Tuesday!

Today's 10/4 Menu

B: Uncle Sam's Cereal w/Almond Milk +blueberries
L: Roasted Turkey Sandwich with BLT and mayo (on sprouted bread) +decaf tea
D: Grilled Mahi Mahi steaks on a bed of mixed fresh greens with LC salad dressing +1/2 grilled whole grain baguette
Dessert: 85% choc square
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: Barre workout with weights

BFC Tip: This stretch of BFCycling is really an experiment because I don't know what my ratio thresholds are exactly. So, I figured if I stayed below the 15/6, at least I wouldn't gain. But, tweaking may still need to be done to effectively produce weight loss. Plus, the 2 consecutive up days are also under evaluation. So, in short, in order to determine what combo of ratios and placement of up/down days that generate weight loss...will be on a case-by-case basis. Experiment until you obtain the magic sweet spot.
-----

I decided to stick with the barre workouts for awhile. I like the idea of my body having more fluidity. It's sore going right now, but if I continue, eventually my muscles and sinews will get the hang of it. Plus, I like the variety.

BFCycling is going great, foodwise that is. Let's see what it brings on weigh day...tomorrow.

Happy Thursday!

Weigh Day

Day

Although I need to tweak my BFCycling a bit, I still was able to eek out a loss of 1.7 lbs. That is respectable, I say!

My plan for this weekend and next is to alternate the up and down days like so,
Today, Friday (0/0)
Saturday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday (10/4)
Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday (0/0)
Exercise: 30-45 minutes 3 times/week
Water: 64 oz

Yesterday was a 10/4 day...so, I am not feeling too hungry today. The strange thing about the BFCycling is that I have to now remind myself to eat. It's a good problem to have.

Today's 0/0 Menu
B: Decaf Coffee +CO (3 cups) w/HWC and stevia
L: Herbal Tea + boiled eggs stuffed with tuna salad
D: Herbal Tea +grilled steak w/garlic butter
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: Barre workout

TGIF!

Hi Terri! Yep, it is true. Just gotta avoid that darn plateau-thing that may be looming in the future.

What will be feel like to have to maintain for life...is it possible?
