Yeah, I can't wait until next year. I need all of the help I can get to keep going and above all, to maintain! It has been really quiet around here with the holidays and all. Things will perk up after Christmas.

Hi Karai,

You are still doing really well. I'm just trying to maintain by adding a good low calorie day in every so often ala JUDDD. THere are lots of fun things going on eating wise so am trying to be careful.

Enjoy your holidays!

Weigh-In Day

Today's Menu

IF until noon (Vitamin Water) (1/0)
L: Big Cobb salad w/LC Dssg (6/2)
D:Family Night--Seafood (will try to keep carbs low)
S/C Total: 10/4 (?)
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 30 minutes cardio +30 minutes resistance

It's Day!

My body wasn't messing around by remaining the same weight for the last couple of weeks. It was balancing itself, and gave me a whoosh. Well, it's a whoosh for me. I'm down 3.3 lbs! Yay! That makes 71 pounds gone bye-bye. I have lost a small person in weight. Geez! Can you imagine carrying that kind of excess weight around. Wow...And, I have about 50 lbs more to go. Incredible!

Tonight, DH is doing a seafood boil for our family night. I'm looking forward to the fresh fish and good family time.

Hi Seabreezes,

Thanks. It has been a major obstacle course since October...so many 'opportunities' to dive in and eat all of the goodies! Hey, it wouldn't be the holidays without the bliss and treats, aye?

If we both maintain over the holidays, we have done very well! My goal too is to not gain. Whether that means slow steady losses or just maintaining, I will take either.

Enjoy your holidays too!

IF until 6:00 p.m. (Vitamin Water) (2/0)
Dinner: Chili Bowl (HM beanless chili on romaine lettuce +shredded cheese+ salsa + 1oz light tortilla chips) (6/3)
Dessert: HM SF hot chocolate w/HWC (2/1)
S/C Total 10/4
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 1 hour walk with the lunch group (the temps are warmer today!)

This week, I will IF until 6:00 p.m. I have a hunch that if I cycle the fasts, I won't at least gain anything. My sugar intake is up from my usual levels, but I am keeping my carbs at, or below the required level. So, hopefully this will balance out everything.

Over the weekend, I completed all of my shopping for Christmas presents. DH wrapped them. He does a better job in wrapping presents than I do any day. He has a knack for it. While the kiddoes enjoyed a sleepover at friends, we prepped the house for next week's Christmas visits. We also dropped off things at our church and local agencies. We even got about 70% of our grocery shopping done!

Happy Monday,

Last night, friends dropped by to exchange presents. It was a nice surprise. I popped out my bacon wrapped cheese 'crackers' as a nice appetizer. They loved them. But, of course, they wanted the usual high carb stuff too.

Tonight is my office's Christmas party. DH and I will do a quick show and head to his folks' house to visit with relatives from out of town. I have no plans to eat anything at the party. But, if I cave in, I will select meat and fresh veggie options to snack on.

Friday is DH's office party...ugh.

Happy Tuesday,

Happy Tuesday Karai.

I think I missed the bacon wrapped cheese cracker recipe. You'll have to direct me to your awesomeness.

My Sugar Free Chocolate pudding pie was declared the best dessert at my gift exchange. It wasnt' totally sugar free: the crust and crumbles were plain oreo, but the filling and the whipped cream were. and it was made with cream instead of milk so it was rich!

Metqa, my mouth was watering just reading about your sf pie!!!! Congratulations on your dessert masterpiece. Pudding pies are the best, especially with your Oreo crust...oreo crust...oreo crust....omg!

Oh...sorry...I digressed.

The bacon wraps are easy. You just take your favorite cheese, cut into squares (if using the processed stuff) or grate into piles on parchment or silpat. Then microwave them for about 30-45 seconds. You can also bake them on a parchment lined cookie sheet...either way works. After they get ready, let them sit for a few minutes aside. Next, take some strips of bacon and place on a 2nd cookie sheet. Sprinkle some of the strips with Parmesan cheese and the others with brown sugar (for the non-lc'bers). Bake the bacon as usual. When ready, take out of the oven, pat to remove excess oil, and let cool. Then, place a 'cheese' cracker on one end of a strip of bacon and roll. Pin with toothpicks if you plan to serve the same day. These go fast.

It's Day!

I lost a little over a pound (1.2). Now,that was a surprise to me. I just knew that after my small whoosh last week, I would at least stay on point. The IF'ing is helping a lot. I am one pound away from the 180's!

Tonight is DH's office party. So, my game plan is to eat appetizers, the roasted chicken, drummies, a few meatballs because they may contain carbs, fresh veggies, and a nice sized salad. I may even sneak a treat too.

Happy TGIF,

Well, I was suddenly knocked out of action by influenza. It just hit me out of nowhere. I spent the entire Christmas and New Year's holidays (2 weeks) in the bed recuperating. Today, is the first day that I started really feeling more like myself. It was not a good holiday for me at all. But, I am grateful that my children were able to spend time with their cousins and not miss the real joy of the season.

I didn't stick to BFC. Actually, I had no appetite at all. I had to force myself to eat soup and jello most of the time. I ate hot cereal or toast for breakfast. That is all I could get down. Even today, my appetite is meager.

The good of this bad experience is that I lost 10 lbs. So, that is the only consolation I can take from having a lousy Christmas and New Year!

It can only get better from here...

Hi Karai,
I was just thinking about you and realizing I hadn’t heard from you. So sorry you were sick. What a crumby way to spend the holiday. That 10# was a great Christmas gift though. So are you going back to BFC?

I had a great holiday, actually made it to the beach. However the weight creep now has to be dealt with. I can’t say I’m overly motivated toward deprivation at the moment so I opted for Atkins just to get back on track. I’ve been doing induction since Saturday and can already “feel” the difference, but I’m only weighing in on Saturdays, we shall see.

Hope you have a great new year!

Happy New Year Seabreezes and Terri!

Seabreezes, no fun here.

Slowly I am feeling normal again. That flu stuff is nothing to play around with. It is something else... Although I hated being out of play, as I think back on it all, I got some greatly needed rest. I have slowed down and no longer try to do everything.

Terri, I'm glad you had a happy holiday. Yes, I plan to stick with BFC until my body says differently. I'm still just nibbling on stuff...not 100% back to plan yet. My sugar values are virtually nil. It's the carbs that I am having to trim back.

Atkins is a great way to get things back to the center. Induction has always been my 'get serious' segue to LC.

Well, here is to believing that this year will be a much better one than 2013!

I am still eating soup, jello and sandwiches/crackers. Occasionally, I will eat a fuji apple by slices. I am also drinking plenty of water in order to stay hydrated. Yesterday, I tracked my ratio to 3/10. So, the carbs are definitely dominating at this point. I think by next week, I should be fully back to BFC.

Return to BFC--100%

I am at about 80% back to normal with my health. I have a doctor's appointment today as a follow-up on my treatment for the flu. I'm still having some symptoms. Maybe another round of antibiotics will do the trick.

Over the weekend, I sanitized everything and everyone in my house. Will continue this regimen for the next couple of weeks.

Well, I am back fully to BFC. I've been eating mostly veggies, berries, jello, nuts/seeds, chicken, broth and an occasional slice of ezekial bread or roll. My ratios have been as around 0/3 to 8/4. My appetite is still not there yet. Plus, my taste buds are off.

Here is today's Menu:

B: Chicken broth + 1/2 ezekial roll +black berries (5/1)
L: Chicken salad cups + jello (2/1)
D: Chicken broth + grilled chicken breast +sauteed green beans (2/1)
Snack: Chamomile Tea (0/0)
S/C Total: 9/3

Btw, I gained back 3 of the 10 pounds that I lost. I weighed myself Saturday in order to get a post-flu weight before restarting BFC.

Happy Monday,

I'm so sorry you were sick. I was (still recovering from being) sick all the way from new years to today. I told bf I haven't been "good" since I've just been eating whatever I could keep in me and whatever he'd feed me. I thought about you too. I'm glad you are getting over illness and back to normal.

Hi Metqa. I am glad to 'see' that you are back. I noticed that you hadn't posted for a while, so I just knew you were having a great holiday.

It's good that you are feeling better too. Like you, my mind and body were not able to stay on-the-wagon during my illness. I just ate whatever I could stomach...soup and jello! I am just now able to get my mind wrapped around BFC again.

Here is to a better and healthy year for us all!!

My doctor said that I am doing fine. She prescribed me another med to 'dry up' the phlegm. Other than that, I got a bill of on-the-way-to-a-good recovery. Slowly, the appetite is returning. I am beginning to want more white meats...the heavy stuff like beef will have to wait a while. The exercise will have to wait too.

One of my christmas gifts was a book about the calorie restriction diet. It was an interesting read. Bulk eating seems to be the key to this plan. I can see how incorporating it into BFC could be useful. I tried the frozen LS fruit with nuts for breakfast. I am still full from a minimum ratio meal. Good start so far.

Hi Karai,
Going well, I was down 3.2 I think on week one. Half way through week two I got the creeping crud. Hopefully not too serious. As soon as I'm back on my feet I’m going to try the “original” induction from Atkins first book, which is remarkably like M&E with the addition to two small salads. Tashy started it yesterday and I think a couple others might join in. We’re still on the M&E thread. Winter M&E thread

I need to soak up some liquids! I need to hydrate to get rid of this nagging cough. That has kept me offline.
I've been going through my batches of frozen soup like crazy. Thank goodness for bulk batch cooking! I like my soups as much or better than canned...
