Yes, it will take your body time to adjust. I have read that some birth control leads to insulin resistance. I am sure the Norplant implants I had caused issues as I gained 80 pounds during those 5 years which I later learned was common for women with it

I'm going to go without until my doc appt next month and see what she has to say--If I could lose weight easier without the pill, I think that would talk me into stopping them permanently.

I'm back on track today, eating-wise--looking forward to a good dinner tonight!

Well yesterday was a one meal only day (RM according to CAD/CALP) because I was at work. Had some stress also and amazingly I am down to 213.6 lbs! I suspect I will bounce right back up tomorrow since I am most likely very dehydrated even though I drank a bunch of water but also I tend to get dry after TOM has passed. Anyways, I do love the flexibility of CAD and also that IF really does work as once your body adjusts you plain old just do not get hungry and can really eat only once a day!

Meal was:

1 top sirloin steak
4 Cup red leaf lettuce salad
3 TBSP Hidden Valley Ranch dsg
2 C celery sticks
16oz iced mocha 2% milk (regular esspresso this time-not decaf)
1 regular snickers
1 regular almond joy

Even with the junk this was close to balanced in terms of eyeballing amounts and also was just around 1500 calories so wasn't even enough calories compared to what I normally eat which is closer to 1800 or higher a lot of days.

Well I ended up with 2 and possibly again today will be RM only days due to either work schedule, stress, and just being NOT hungry.

I have worked out the last 2 days as well and it is paying off on the scale. Yesterday I was 213.6 lbs but I attribute that to the stress and fully expected today to be back up but I was only 214.2 lbs! Not sure if a combo of end of TOM and being dry, the stress, and/or the exercise but I will take it!

My workouts are a one mile walk, then a combo of calisthenics like marching leg lifts, variations of sqats, leg curls, modified pull ups and push ups. Today I hit it hard with 2 circuits of all my leg and arm stuff and I can already seed the improved strength and endurace after only 5 workouts!

I highly recommend the book Convict Conditioning. It has a funny premis of being old-school calisthenics that are mainly only used today in prisions and the knowledge about them kept alive there but the author really knows his stuff and it has lots of interesting history on the stong-men of the early 1900's complete with pictures. It is ONLY you using your own body and there are 10 variations of each exercise that start you out from the easiest and most dibiliatated person should be able to do up to the full exercise and you go at your own pace.

The next would be just watch a few youtube clips of Sit and Be Fit or watch it on TV. That is something I recommend to patients and also just keep in mind whenever I start up training and get discouraged because I am so overweight that really I can do ANY exercise at my level of fitness and just have to modify it.

Well 3 days in a row of one meal only. It is just what I seem to be naturally inclined to do even with all the exercise I have been doing! This week I am happy to report my LOWEST weekly avg weight yet in over 10 months! Looks like I will break this plateau after all!

One meal for me being breakfast and I have dropped 3 pounds in 3 days. I'll take it. I love the Big Breakfast Diet. I seem to gain eating one meal a day for dinner even after fasting all day. If I eat one meal a day for breakfast between the hours of 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. I lose eating way more calories too. I eat anywhere up to 3000 calories for breakfast. That is why I am not hungry. Now today was only 2500! LOL!

Did they ever say how long it took Rachael Heller to lose the 150 pounds she claimed eating only one meal (dinner) a day in any of their books? I don't recall the time frame.

They never did say how long it took Rachael to lose eating one meal a day OR how long she did that. It did say though that she lost weight eating this way for awhile and that it isn't necessary for people to do what she did and to fast to lose. YET that is what works for me and NOT eating at night but for breakfast. I have now lost 4 pounds in 4 days from 113 to 109 eating 2000+ calories for breakfast. Today I had at least 12 oz. ribeye, lg. salad with ranch, 2 Haagen Dazs ice cream bars, diet coke around 8:30. Tomorrow I will start with 3 oranges, then later 2 ham and cheese hot pockets and a pint of Haagen Dazs ice cream

Well, ladies, I think we all need to find our path of eating and I think I have found mine. Yes it is eating one meal a day but it is breakfast. I am going to stick to this until I get to my original weight of 105 pounds. I was 113 to start and am 109 today. I have had 2000+ calories a day at breakfast and love it. I nice black cup of coffee does it for me in the evenings and I am fine til morning. This works if you are struggling.

Oriana I couldn't be happier for you! I loved it when LowcarbRachel said she was leaving cad and went on to Intermittent Fasting so I learned from her on that and slowly just went to eating most days just once a day. That is something I would have never considered without other's posting what works and what doesn't for them. It allowed me to look out of the box a bit!

Most likely will be a one meal only (RM only) day. Started off with my exercise regimen again. Forgot to mention for yesterday in addition to that I also did 50 leg lifts (ab work) and my back exercises). I did all the same stuff today. Maybe 45 minutes total work out.

Today's weight 213.2 lbs. Same as yesterday.

RM from 11:40-12:40-

1 large ribeye steak
6 C mixed baby herb and green salad with 3 large mushrooms
4 TBSP blue cheese dressing
2 stalks of celery and 3 mini bell peppers stuffed with cream cheese, diced turkey breast, diced green onions, shredded cheddar cheese, and some hot pepper flakes
Iced caramel mocha with 3 oz of syrups, 1 C whole milk, 5 shots decaf esspresso (although this was shared with my daughter so I didn't get it all )
1 regular sized snickers
1 regular sized kit kat
1 reese's PB cup (1/2 of a regular package package)

I do have some BBQ chicken legs in the fridge and a big bowl of the stuffed peppers. Should I get hungry later I will have some of that for a CM but since I am at home today and in my "normal" routine I usually do RM only those days.

Today I didn't exercise since I spent 1 1/2 hours weeding and hauled 3 loads of weeds to the other side of my land which is 1/4 mile round trip so I got a 3/4 mile walk in plus all the upper body weed pulling. We grow monster weeds out in the country! LOL We also planted 24 mums in my flower beds as well. Then I came right in and started cleaning. This evening will be round 2 getting the other half of the house, the kid's play room and laundry done. Ugh... the joys of running a big house. We don't do near the amount of yard work we need to, especially since Hubby started building his shop. I am hoping once that is done we can do more out in the yard because it needs it!

Tomorrow I've got some rabbit to deliver then will take it easy but plan on doing my "usual" exercise routine.

Today's RM from 12:30-1:30:

1 very large ribeye
6 C salad with 3 stalks celery, 3 diced mushrooms, 3 diced green onions
4 TBSP blue cheese salad dressing
3 stuffed minibellpeppers (cream cheese, diced turkey breast, diced green onions)
1 large iced mocha with 3 oz syrups, 5 shots decaf esspresso, 1 C whole milk
1 regular sized almond joy
1 regular sized snickers
1 regular sized kit kat
1 regular sized twix

Don't know why but I wanted chocolate today! Must be getting close to TOM or something. Today my weight was up from 213.2 lbs to 214. Not sure how tomorrow will be after such a large RM with all the junk carbs but I was sweating buckets and buckets during all that weed pulling and I could feel my muscles shivering after that and I was HUNGRY!!

Hi! Been out of sorts for a couple weeks, which also means off plan. I'm working to stop letting food be the main comfort for stressful times...but the important thing for me is to just get back to my one-meal-a-day! It starts tomorrow(I had a bagel before work, which puts a wrench into the plan).

Been at work last few days and on TOM. LOTS of chocolate! LOL I do one meal only on work days and it has been super easy! Steak, LARGE salad, lots of choc: iced mocha, choc chip cookies, snickers, kit kat, reese's, twix. You name it, I've eaten it if it's got choc. Wt will be up 2 lbs likely this week's avg but I am ok with that.

I'm waiting for TOM....since the past 2 months I've been off the pill and no longer know exactly when it will get here. I know I don't like how my body's been reacting the past 2 months, so I'm getting back on the pill this month! My Dr. challenged me to lose 10 pounds by the time she has to see me in November, so that is my motivation now! If I can just stick to my one meal, and be smart about it, PLUS get some good cardio in, I should meet the goal!

Back to my one meal only at breakfast and a big one at that. I lost the most I have ever lost on this. Even more than on a raw food diet. Tomorrow morning its an apple to start with before my morning jog. I start about 5 a.m. Then I will eat 1/2 all meat pizza and soda, 2 lg. Costco carrot cake cupcakes and coffee with heavy cream. That should hold me until the next morning's feast. On the 7th day I have a free day and eat anything I want all day. My week looks like this: Monday thru Friday I eat my BB from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., Saturday is a free day and Sunday I eat a later brunch BB. I usually don't get hungry at night until around 8 p.m. so have a diet coke or a couple glasses of water or coffee.

I want to hear all about it after you do it for a couple of weeks with the added "free day." Let us know if you continue to lose or maintain. I would be worried I would get soooooo hungry by the night time!

Well, I have to say that I have honestly been FULL all day long and it is now 7:20 p.m. I ate an apple at 5 a.m. and then after a jog came home for 3 pcs. of all meat pizza. Before 9 a.m. I had a large sugar free vanilla latte and 2 very large Costco carrot cake cupcakes. I didn't have one craving all day. I saved dinner from tonight for tomorrow's BB. I'll have some more fruit or a smoothie upon waking and after my 100 squats a day that I do. Then I'll jog and come home and have a huge chicken salad and maybe some cheese and coffee with cream and either a pint of Haagen Dazs or 2 Haagen Dazs bars. Yes, I will let you know if I keep losing on my free days on Saturdays. I like my plan because I don't have much time for dinners Monday - Friday. Saturday is family and fun nights and I love to exercise more and eat more then. Sunday we usually always have a big brunch and not much dinner at our house anyway so my BB is brunch and I will probably be full from the Sat. free day anyway first thing in the morning. I love my plan.

Oriana I am sooooooo glad you found YOUR plan! Sounds like you are doing awesome. I know you have been at this a long time and I am glad you are off the diet roller coaster. I love the flexibility of this woe and not feeling like getting derailed when we try something new. Just see if it works or not, then keep going!

FYI...About 20 years ago I started eating one meal a day and lost 35 in three months! I went from 155 to 120. Of course I was working out quite a lot (weights and some walking). My doc said he was amazed and wanted to know what I did. Sometimes at nite I would have a bag of popcorn or some yogurt but basically just one meal about 2:00. I am only 5'2" so don't need a lot of calories. The RM thing is an excuse for me to overeat, and I don't like eating a salad every day. I do make a Nutribullet drink often tho to get the greens.

Just Saying,

Suze

Hey good to know. I have been doing one meal only most days about 3 months now and have lost maybe 2 pounds! LOL I do eat a lot at my one meal but slowly it is coming off. I am now eating early in the day which does cause me hunger later but I am sticking it out. I eat 1800-2600 calories a day either as 3 meals or 1 meal and have slowly lost 20 pounds and I have not cut back one bit. No calorie counting, no carb restriction. Just eating carbs in a one hour time frame and if I eat any other meals they are only low carb veggies and protein. I am happy with this as I am NOT hungry, have no cravings, lots of other benefits plus I am at this almost a year now and it just feels natural, satisfying and not even like being on a diet. It is sooooooo simple to follow and really does work.

My ring feels loose, my stomach feels really empty and sinks in when I lay down at night (if I do the RM for breakfast I REALLY notice that feeling). I have been trying to get my RM in before 10am and so far last 3 days I have done so. I have lost 2 pounds in 3 days so it is working! I hope to see a new low tomorrow but today I was 213.6 so if I stay in that range I will still be happy.

I had a lot of engery and literaly spent 8 hours detailing my minivan! I watched some professional detailer's videos on youtube on how to clean and repair leather seats so I cleaned all my seats (took an hour EACH seat! LOL) and got the stuff for tomorrow to start the repairs. I also watched one on how to use a clay bar to clean the surface of the paint and I washed, clay barred, re-washed, hand toweled it dry, then did a spray and buff easy wax. It looks sooooo nice. I also detailed the console and got it all shiney. I am in the market for another vehicle and am absolutely smitten with Toyotas and want a 4Runner sooooooo bad I can't sleep! LOL I am keeping my minivan because I love it so much but I also want a 4Runner and my vehicle obsession of late is dring my husband nuts.

I am pleased with how much energy I have eating only one meal so early. I do get hungry in the 5pm-8pm range but it is tolerable and after only 3 days I am actually waking up hungry which is kind of interesting.

My early BB/SEC type RM was:

1/2 head of lettuce stir fried in bacon grease
2 eggs
3 pc bacon
one large pc of elk pepperoni
1 large fruit smoothie with banana, apple, pear, green and purple grapes. The apples and pears were ones we harvested ourselves
2 Cups extreme moosetracks ice cream with 1/2 C half and half and one starbucks via mixed together into a mocha-milkshake
4 safeway chocolate chip cookies.

I'd have to crunch the calories but I bet this was under 2000 calories. I am also being sure to up the fat intake and also protein to keep hunger at bay. Oriana has done well eating early like this and swears by higher fat BB and she has lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks after coming back from vacation from 113 pounds down to 106 pounds. She is definately in maintenence phase and does free days on Saturdays which I don't do but she and I eat almost the same calories so I am hoping to lose weight at least as half as well as she does!

Sounds like you've got the car detailing down pat....but just to make sure, I think you should come over and detail MY car. Your meal sounds great--I love sauteeing cabbage in bacon grease but never thought of doing that with lettuce. May have to try that!

I've been plodding along with my one meal, but lately it's been a lot of carbs and salty stuff. I'm going to try to cut back on that stuff and see how I progress....AFTER I get rid of this 1/2 loaf of french bread that is screaming at me to make bruschetta with tonight's dinner.

I know lettuce with cream cheese and sliced turkey is great for roll-ups!
