Egg Fast

My day is not going as planned. I had my two eggs in butter for breakfast (chose to bypass the bacon due to the fluid I'm once again holding ) and when lunch came around was not inclined to eat, but knew by the way I felt that if I didn't, I was going to risk hypoglycemia. So I deviled 3 hardboiled eggs and that was lunch.

I was out surfing the 'net and discovered a body building forum where there was a whole thread on 'egg fasts' and people were listing their results over a three week period. They'd do them for a few days, go back to their 'keto' diet (which appeared to be very low carb, just protein and vegies) for a week or so and then do another 3 day egg fast. As far as I could tell, the weight loss was not temporary. They didn't regain what they'd lost while eating eggs for 3 days.

They talked about how they found out the information from this forum, but when I do a search, I find threads talking about it but nothing specific. I could get into eating nothing but eggs for the next few days because right now I'm in a food slump. I don't even feel like eating but I know I need to eat something. So, anyone know any specifics about this? Since I already appear to be eating nothing but eggs for the day...

.

I did a meat and egg fast and it was ridic. I lost almost a pound a day. It was the only time I ever felt in ketosis. Deep ketosis. Very strange feeling.

So basically you cut out vegies and you can eat the proteins and fats? These people were saying they just ate eggs.

Well, I used the ideas for Atkins fat fast, but also allowed as many eggs as I wanted.

Whenever I googled it, it was called meat & egg fast. I wouldn't think it would be as good with a lean meat, though.

Everyone dropped serious poundage. It's hard to stick to, though.

I ate every 2-3 hours, not more than 4. 200-300 calories worth per "feed". Here's a sample:

B: 2 eggs fried in butter, coffee w cream

Sn: macadamias
Sn: 4oz whipping cream whipped and tossed w sf jello
L: 2egg salad
S: pepperoni, crisped, dipped in 3 cheese ranch

Never hungry but always felt borderline queasy from the deep ketosis.

Thanks, Misti!

I ended up eating 2 eggs in butter for breakfast, 3 eggs deviled with 2 Tbs mayo for lunch and 2 eggs in butter and bacon for dinner. I'm coming out at around 1200 calories and 71% of that is fat with less than 10 carbs so I hope I'm not supposed to eatmore than that cuz I'm just not hungry!

I'm doing an egg fast now. I do one whenever I feel like I've been the victim of carb creep. Mind you, I don't eat high carb junk but sometimes I over indulge on things like heavy cream, yogurt or watermelon. I do 3 days of eggs cooked anyway I feel the urge to cook them. Fried, scrambled, deviled, poached, baked. I add fats like butter or mayo. I do not restrict the number of eggs I eat in a day. I eat when hungry. After 3 days I usually lose the 3-4 lbs if water I've gained and I return to my normal low carb diet.

Egg fast help me get into ketosis quickly and keep me in maintenance mode.

I did an egg fast a couple months ago. I ate 2 dozen eggs in 3 days. I lost 4 pounds that stayed off. I love eggs, but by the middle of the third day I was having a hard time getting them down.

There's a gal on another forum who has lost 18 lbs in 11 days or some such on an egg fast, adding in some avocado recently. Starting weight around 190ish. No way is that ALL glycogen stores, right? Wowser.

@Aquarius, and that's the allure, isn't it? 4 lbs in 3 days, or like the other lady, 16 lbs in 14 days. I think I would be going postal on someone before 14 days! But for such a slow loser, it really incentivizes me.
That said, I have a doc appt tomorrow. It's a specialist so quite a wait plus dropping off the stooges at mil's. worried about my snack. I don't have Mac nuts on hand either and whipping cream wouldn't be do good in the handbag.
Big daddy ate all the jerky. Merp. Maybe just get super full ahead of time .

Joyce,
Thank you for the link! What a fab loss! I wonder what it is about egg or fat?! Bc even when people go almost zero carb but no egg fast or fat fast they usually don't pull those kind of numbers!

I do meat&egg fasts. I do it for 5 days, weigh myself the 5th day and then go back to just low carb for a few days or another round of meat&egg. The most ive lost in 5 days is 5.6lbs.

You got to be strict, and be aware of what stalls u ( for example cheese stalls me so cant add it to my eggs or anything) and yes, for some weird reason, the more eggs I eat the better my results.

But thats just my humble opinion and experience with it.

PhDGuy- I thought high cholesterol bc of cholesterol containing foods was a myth? AFAIK, it's a HC diet that promotes high cholesterol in your body.

I guess Natalia...

The medical community cannot get their facts straight and they all have different opinions in the matter...So confusing for the ones that we suffer high cholesterol due to our genetics.

I sure am! I have a family reunion on Saturday and I think I'm going to egg fast through Friday. I'm taking my own food to the reunion since I just read the list of foods that everyone is bringing and I think I gained 15 lbs just reading the list of carbs, carbs and even more carbs. Seriously...5 potato type dishes?? I won't even tell you how many desserts are coming along with someone bringing what they call 'junk food snacks'.

Phd...pick up a copy of "The Great Cholesterol Con" by Dr. Malcolm Kendrick. I know amazon carries it, but be careful...there's another book by the same name by someone else. Kendrick is out of the UK and he must be getting more popular because I had to order mine directly from a UK publisher as recently as 4-5 years ago cuz nobody carried it in the U.S.

It certainly opened my eyes!

Day 2 of Egg Fast...

I do keep an eye on my calories since they do make a difference for me and was actually surprised (but not worried) when I still came in at 1200 calories for yesterday considering I only ate 6 eggs. Then I looked at my fats...71%. Oh...okay.

I was sooo surprised that I wasn't hungry or craving some variety by evening. Then again...I *LOVE* eggs.

Hello, chickies! Well I woke up in an eggcellent state of mind and decided to give the M&E a go for 3 days. I hope I can last that long!

My rules will be : eggs allowed in any form until satisfied,
Any other food permitted in Atkins "fat fast" & ratios,
Replace my coffee cream with HWC.

Had 3 eggs for breakkie, fried in a T of butter. No cheese. I'm going to HC to add cheese though bc I usually like my fried eggs with BBQ sauce, and for this experiment I don't even want to use LC condiments ( except mayo)

Plan for lunch is egg salad
Plan for supper is ground beef if its allowed. Have to check!

After the preview of 179 I have been hovering at 180 for around a week. We shall see!

Morning all.
I've decided to jump on board for the last 3 days of my newest round (I weigh myself every 5 days and I refer to these as "rounds"). I'm on Ongoing-Induction/Meat&Eggs, but for the last 3 days of this round I WANT(I hope I won't get sidetracked/fall off the wagon) to do strictly an Egg Fast. Friday is my weigh-in day (I can't do daily-weighing; the flucctuations stress me out too much). But Friday morning, I will weigh myself and see what losses this WOE helps me acheive. My goal is to lose at least the 3.8lbs I gained last week for falling off the wagon and eating too carb-y.

Wish me luck!
