Five days of normal eating, with little thought to calorie control, up to approximately 2000 those day. Then, on the other two days, you just eat a quarter of your recommended daily calorie quota. That works out at 500 calories for women and 600 for men.

I'm doing it with non-consecutive fast days. I do stick to lo-carb on all days. Three fast days under my belt. Turning 40 seemed to start lots of weight gain even though I was still lo-carbing and exercising. I have lost 2 pounds.
Something has got to give for me. At this point I feel like I'm doing well if I can keep from gaining weight. I have gained about 5 lbs a year in the last few years. I would really like to go back to a healthy weight. A friend has lost 12 lbs in 6 weeks and she has struggled just like me so I am hoping this will work.
I was surprised at how easy it was to fast. The flexibility of which two days is really helpful.

And just like the book The Fast Diet says, I find I don't go crazy eating on the first non-fast day. I think I go closer to 36 hrs because I don't like to eat until after my morning exercising. I usually end up eating brunch, maybe a snack then dinner.

Hi oreo2, WTG on 3 days!

I also do lc and like you, don't go crazy on non-fast day. I find it easier for me if I eat within an 8 hour window, 11 or 12 to 8 being my cut off time, kitchen closed.

I started this in February and was pleased with my wl, had some minor surgery and ate some carbs but I didn't add back in sugar and it was difficult. I have just finished a week of no/low carbs and am back on plan/

Today is the beginning of my first week back on plan, today is a fast day.

Thank you for starting this thread. This is my first week of the 5:2 plan. Yesterday was my first DD and planning on Tues/Fri for my DD. I'm using it as more of a maintenance plan. I started losing weight Jan of 2012 and did Medi Weightloss Center for the first 50 lbs and the remaining 75 with HCG.

I'm at goal weight and would like to maintain 123-125 or just stay in the 120's. I'm essentially LC with no sugar, nothing processed though I do enjoy an occasional lc treat. I started at 123.8 on Mon, Tues 123.8, Wed 125.6 DD, today 124.6. I know I'm not supposed to weigh in everyday but it's an HCG habit that I am having a hard time to break Hoping after I am comfortable with this WOE I can only weigh in after my DD.

What made me decide on this plan is that even with eating LC and not cheating I kept on climbing and was always doing correction days or fat fasts to get back down to my acceptable range. I essentially had to be 1200-1400 very lc calories to maintain but any little blip like stress/tom/medication and I would go up and up. With this plan I find it less stressful, I can enjoy my foods more and eat more ! So far having about 1600 calories and may adjust as I see how I will react in a few weeks. Having some blood work mid July so hoping for positive results since I chose this WOE not only for the scale but the health benefits I've read about.

Me too pandora, I'm so glad you're here with us to share. You have done awesome and I hope I can be as successful as you. Awesome that it's working so good for you.

I am learning IF and also find that 5:2 is doable and less stressful. I can't see me not doing some form of IF ever again. I have learned I have to stay low carb with an occasional treat too. My Dr. advised me to eat something I enjoy about every 3 weeks or so rather than adding in more carbs daily.

I've learned a lot from my Juddd friends, some call this Juddd "lite". Hopefully some of them will share with us.

I had a good FD yesterday, ended up with slightly over 360 calories without a struggle. Today it was nice to be abe to eat out at the cafeteria, fried chicken breast, stewed squash and cucumber salad.

Hopefully, I won't be this late checking in usually but today we had Dr. appointsmenta and I had an eye exam.

Once again I see I'm going to have to work on getting my calories in on ud's. I thought I did good yesterday but only logged in less than 800, had I not eaten macadamia nuts, it would have been another fast day.

I'm doing 5:2 as well. I've been faffing about with it since March 1st and am only down 8 lbs. Guess I'm enjoying my UD's too much? Anyway, I really do like the plan. I do a strenuous boot camp workout 4 days a week, so some of my DD's go a bit over 500. Some days I'm just SO hungry that I end up with 600-700. Oh well......as long as the scale inches downward, I guess I'll be happy!

I had a breakfast meeting today so I decided to start my fast after 10:00. Since I don't normally eat until after 10:00 I think it will work. I think I prefer starting at bed time the night before and going through the next day. I end up with closer to 36 hours. I will see how long I can go tomorrow. I did have a carby meal so it will be interesting to see how that affects me.

Sounds like you're doing good with your IF oreo, neat thing is everyone can work what works for them.

I had a good weigh-in this morning. I am back down to my posted cw of 212 after a 6 to 8 week derail. So maybe it will be downhill now.

Morning all ! My 2nd DD is over and today weighed in at 124.8. This my first week of the 5:2 diet so far so good since I am trying to maintain or if possible I would like to get to 120-122. On my feast days eating about 1500-1600 calories & I have been weighing in every day to get an idea how the plan is working for me. I am going to try and move away from the everyday weighing in but after doing it every day for over a year it is very hard to let go...

5/28 124.4 DD
5/29 124.6
5/30 123.8
5/31 128.4 DD wow can we say inflammation !
6/1 124.8

A little confused, since I'm going go up & down when do I really know I've lost weight ? I know from yesterday I dropped -3.6 but if I look at my last DD I've gone up +.4. I know I am just in first week and low in my weight as it is so I'll be happy if I can just maintain with this WOE. But I am greedy and would love to drop a little more. I'm hoping after a few weeks I may see the scale go a little lower but regardless very very happy to have found this WOE.

I must stop weighing in after a feast day...I must stop weighing in after a feast day... keeping my calories 1500-1600 and eating very clean (veggies/healthy fats/protein/greek yogurt/berries/water and cheese in moderation) nothing processed or sugar/bad carbs. Have to get used to these fluctuations but I so love the scale after a DD. After a feast day the scale can get so crazy, this morning it was up 2 lbs.

Tomorrow I start my 2nd week of the 5:2 plan and hope to see better results though to be honest I can't rule out my tom might be coming since I've had cramps & breaking out... Sticking to it because at least I have 2 DD to keep me in my preferred range but I just wish I would be see more stabilization and not these daily fluctuations.

I am so thankful to have found this wol.

Today is my second dd of my first week since derailing. It's been good so far. I don't plan on keep this as a dd it's just how it turned out this week.

I have been so busy reading about diabetes and IF eating today and it seems this is the way to go. I have more to read and learn.

I had a DD that started last Thursday after a breakfast of biscuits and sausage gravy. I ended up going about 30 hours then had enchiladas and chips for dinner. Naughty for a LC diet. Imagine my surprise to find I was in ketosis Sat. morning. I won't try to push my luck again but that does tell me that my body seems to have made the shift in fuel preference. Today is a dd. I haven't weighed to see if there is any loss.

awesome! My next DD day is tomorrow and then I will do one friday, after that it may be a week before i have one. I'm not sure there is any way around it.

I do find myself sick to my stomach at night on my DD days anyone else have this?

Congrats on the weight loss!!!!

Good morning!

Thanks you 511! I have also been kind of sick to my stomach for 2 days on and after my dd. Sure makes me not want to eat so much. I did find that heated chicken broth with a tsp of gluc helped. I also added in a T of hwc and a T of butter, made a good cream soup. Last night I made one and added in a chopped up boiled egg, it was so good.

Pandora and Oreo, hope you are doing good.

Everything is still the same with me, no change, hoping we all have a good day.

I' m having with cinnamon, Equal and raspberries

Still weighing in every day which is "not" a good thing with this diet at all. The day after my DD the scale is right on the money but the feast days the scale can be up from anywhere from 1 lb to 5 lbs It just makes me wonder why so much fluctuation on the feast days ? Also makes me wonder if without the DD where would my weight go ?

Hope everyone has some nice losses on their DD. I will check in tomorrow with my results. I am finding that the DD are getting much easier & I feel so much cleaner when I do them.

There is a lot of info on the JUDDD site. Here is a link about the scale. The daily bounce doesn't rock my world (anymore)

There might be some other threads that are of interest, too. Several of the gals are using 5:2 for maintenance. The person who started the above thread is one of them. You can click on her other posts, too.

I'm finding that an 8 hour eating window and 5:2 work very well for maintenance.

Thank you I felt so much better after reading the posts on the link you shared ! I have to realize this is a new WOE and give it some time and look at the big picture over some time not just a few days. This is also a maintenance plan for me and the results are a tad slower but I am benefiting from much more than a number on the scale.

Here is an upside I noticed today. I've been home for the last 2 weeks with hubby who had recent brain surgery. Just wearing sweats and pajama pants but today I took hubby for his follow up and pulled on a pair of jeans without thinking. Now before 5:2 when I was where I am today scale wise 128.4 these particular jeans would of been tight and uncomfortable. They are the lower waist one. Well they zipped up PERFECTLY FINE with no muffin top Here is a nice non scale victory

Hello everyone. I am just finishing up with hcg P3D19. This is my 4th round total in the last 2 years or so. I had done 2 rounds and ended up doing JUDD to lose a little more and to maintain. I found that I was struggling to maintain my weight and JUDD worked for me. Then last summer I gained back 30 pounds and have done 2 rounds to lose that gain.

Now I am finding that I am struggling again to maintain. My last drop weight was 122. I dropped down to 119.2 but since then I have been creeping up by .2 pounds every day or so. I am well within my 2 pound range yet at 122.8 but at this rate I will .2 myself right over. And even with only gaining a bit I would like to get about 3 pounds off. At my weight 3 pounds makes a huge difference.

I think I am eating my correct calories for my height and weight. I am not eating anything that I would think would cause gains. Honestly I have only added in more veggies, beef, almond milk, cream, salad dressings. Really that is about it. I want to be able to eat more foods than this. I haven't ever done a correction day but I don't want to battle with gradual gains and then correction days.

So I'm considering the 5:2 or some maybe 4:3. Hopefully I can live with that structure. I don't think I want to do the JUDD with every other day being an DD/UP. Two or 3 days a week for DD's seems doable.

It seems it is basically the same as JUDD then just with fewer DD's.

I weighed today after two feast days.... up about 5lbs yikes! hoping today's DD will bring everything back to normal.

Sherry- congrats on the weightloss and maybe you can just play around with it until you find something that works for you. If you are just trying to maintian maybe just 5:2 would be better.

Pandora- YEAH!!! I know that is a good feeling congrats!

So sticking to it and hoping I can see continued stability.

What I am thinking is for next week tweaking it a bit and trying 4:3 for a few weeks so I can get my range closer to 123-125. So I will have a DD this Sat. Then do Mon/Thurs/Sun as my DD next week and see if I see more stable numbers that way. Then when I get to my happy range go back to 5:2.

That is pretty good! I'm doing my 3rd dd today and hoping for a little change tomorrow, but we will see. Do you work out on DD days?
