I don't remember ever having it in arms, have a few times in my legs. My "go to" feel better food on fast day is a cup of hot broth, sometimes we need the sodium. Hope you feel better soon.

Hello! I am going to give the 5:2 a try starting with my first DD tomorrow. I started on JUDDD last fall but i just could not fast EOD. I have read The Fast Diet plus I saw Michael's BBC documentary. I hope I can make this work!

Morning all ! Officially started my 8th week of 5:2 for maintenance. My DD yesterday got me to 127.6 which is a 3 lbs loss. But while I tend to only focus on my 2nd DD results for the week & that's not until Thurs I'm not too crazy with the trend I'm seeing.

Seems I was on the right track the first couple of weeks 124.8/124.2/123.6 (nice slow & steady downward trend) then I got 125.0/126.6/126.8/127.0 (hmmm). Seems only new thing I did was add in exercise. So today doing a high fat or FF day, then eat normal tomorrow & my 2nd DD on Thurs and let's see if I can stop this upward trend.

If it doesn't work next week I'll just add a 3rd DD next week but thought a 1000 calorie high fat day would be more tolerable. We'll see !

Good luck ladies

Well today is my first fasting day (is that DD?) I'd love to lose 25 lbs. We watched the Michael Mosley documentary again last night and are hopeful that this works and believe it's a lifestyle we could live with for maintenance - not to mention the health benefits!

So, I weighed in this morning at 157.8...here goes!

Hi ladies! I've taken the plunge and am going to try this again. I was fairly successful with JUDDD the very first time I tried it a couple of years ago(although I went back to old habits and gained it back ). Actually, I did more of a 4:3 than EOD. However, I have tried to get back on track several times and haven't been able to get back the 2nd DD.

I decided last week that I need to get my butt in gear. I have 30-40 lbs. to lose and it's not going to come off magically. I decided to go back to my 4:3 plan however last week ended up as 5:2. I lost 3.5 lbs. Water weight, I know, but it was still nice to see the scale go in the right direction.

My DDs are Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday. That's what worked for me the very first time so I'm trying that again. But for the summer I have a feeling I'll probably end up with only 2 DDs as it seems food always happens on Sundays. I'll shoot for DD Sundays but if it doesn't happen I'll just call it 5:2 for the week.

I stick to 500 calories on my DD (or less if I can manage) and currently I am not counting UDs. I know some think one should count on those days also, but I didn't think first time around and I lost weight so I'm going to try that route again. I HATE HATE HATE counting calories. That's why I was drawn to JUDDD when I came across it online. Only counting to 500 EOD sounded so easy and it was. If I find that I stop losing then I will look at counting all the time.

I'm glad to see there are some people who are using 5:2 to lose weight and not just maintain. I've seen lots of posts from people maintaining with it so I was starting to wonder if it would work to actually lose weight. I figured for me, it's better to try it than to do nothing so we'll see where I get.

ok, must be related somehow. such an odd feeling. Yea i like to drink hot water with bullion cubes added. maybe the sodium would help that restless feeling!!!

Good morning ladies and Jingles!

Yesterday was an easy DD/fast day for me thank goodness.

5:2 does work and it's easy to find your pace; around 500 calories any 2 days, up to 2000 calores on 5 up/feast days. Don't beat yourself up, ease into whatever works for you. I'm not a binger nor faster by nature, but rather an emotional overeater and lc and 5:2 along with about 3 days of 16 hour IF works for me. I don't daily count UD calories.

Way to go everyone, let's have a good one!

JUDDD is the alternate day fasting. Basically every other day but they don't necessarily stick to 500 on DD. There's a calculator that will tell you based on how fast you want to lose the max calories on UD and the minimum on DD. There's also a big forum here on lowcarbfriends. If you google JUDDD it takes you to the calculator. The 6 hr window or what I do which is 16/8 is another form of Intermittent Fasting that you can do on it's own or in conjuction with other WOEs. It's supposed to give you the health benefits plus puts your body into fat burning. I eat in an 8 hour window every day and "fast" for 16 hours.

Hi everyone! I'm hoping I can join you all!

I've been doing 4:3 for the last five weeks and so far lost 6.3lbs. Very happy, I don't feel deprived and am enjoying the freedom! On the days that I don't fast I try to eat a natural (no chemically produced products) Low Carb, High Fat diet. I find it makes me feel good. On my fasting days I either have one meal after 24 hours of fasting of a maximum of 500 cals, or I have three whey protein shakes throughout the day that add up to around 300 cals.

All my other details are in my siggy!

Today is a fasting day, and I've just drank my first protein shake.

Up and ready for another fasting day. But first, I have a boot camp session to get through. Today will be my 100th boot camp session!

I didn't do too badly with my UD yesterday. It's so hot here that you really don't have much appetite. I did have a peanut butter milkshake for lunch...my favorite UD treat!

Welcome to all the newbies! Glad to see our community growing.

I survived my first DD...and to be honest it wasn't as bad as I had prepared myself for it to be. I ended up with 488 calories for the day, a ton of water (which resulted in waking up twice during the night), but I was very pleased overall. Eating today and another DD tomorrow!

5/15 - 157.0
5/16 - 157.8
5/17 - 156.2

Morning all ! My DD Monday netted me a -3.0 loss from 130.6 to 127.6 which was higher than my last week's DD so I did a FF day yesterday & dropped -2.4 today to 125.2

Now I will have some bounceback but that's OK since I just wanted to stop the upward trend. Doing an UD today but keeping carbs light and then tomorrow my regular DD. Not counting my weigh in today of 125.2 as the true test will be Friday's weigh in after my DD to see if I stopped the upward trend.

Thinking I may need to incorporate either a 3 DD and make it 4/3 or a FF day on a more regular basis particularly when I start to see an upward trend. This time the trend was 4 consecutive weeks of bumping up on the scale. Next time I will do something sooner maybe after 2 weeks and take care of things.

I had wondered why for me 5:2 is for maintenance & I could't lose on it but I figure since I am pretty low and have been dieting for over a year that is why. But looking at my numbers it was working for me & I just can't get complacent. To be honest the only thing I did differently the last 4 weeks is exercise which has always been a weight gainer for me. Giving it a break for a few days and will re-visit that in the future.

Week 1:124.8
Week 2:124.2
Week 3:123.6 (nice and steady small drops but good enough for me)
**
Week 4:125.0 (here is where I started seeing the upward trend)
Week 5:126.6
Week 6:126.8
Week 7:127.0

But when I looked at my ending #s weekly after both my DD I did see a downward trend the first 3 weeks and I'm hoping every once in a while if I dd a 3rd DD I can keep that going until I can see 122-123. I'm in no hurry whatsover to get there but it would be nice before the holidays at least

Hope everyone has a successful day

Well, yesterday was a DD so I weighed in this morning. I'm up a 1/2 lb. since last Friday (which was my last weigh in after a DD). Makes me wonder how much I gained over the weekend since I didn't weigh myself on Monday morning.

I was a little bummed to see a slightly higher number but am hoping on my next weigh in (Friday morning) I will be down overall for the week. I would like to be able to lose a pound a week at least.

If I continue to see an increase after the weekend I will probably need to start tracking calories at least on those days. I'm pretty good during the week with UDs since I'm at work and only eat what I bring to work. As long as I control my evening eating I'm usually okay. But the weekends are tough.

It's so good to see everyone joining in, congrats on the good results and also for sharing.

I am feeling so good, I have lost 23 lbs on 5:2 and I know it works, I'm just having to be patient with the bouncing. I am at my last weigh-in weight, waiting for the fairy

I hope everyone has a great day!

Just curious....do y'all weigh every day? And which day of the week do you consider your true weight for that week? After a DD, after a UD??

I weigh every day, but that's just because I have a FitBit One and the FitBit Aria scales, so everything is automatically logged for me... I love gadgets! I do however take a weekly and then a monthly average, so I don't go too crazy with all the fluctuations!

That's great! Makes me think that it is possible to lose weight with 5:2, not just maintain.

I normally only weigh the morning after a DD. Friday's weight will be the one I actually go by. (I've never been a daily weigher. I find it too frustrating.) I'm usually not brave enough to weigh after an UD or a weekend. Although I may start checking on Mondays if I continue to see the same pattern I saw this week. Maybe that will help me to reign in the weekends.

I always weigh in every day which I know is not a good thing but it's a habit I can't seem to break. Anyway I only count my weight after a DD and focus on the 2nd DD number for my true weigh in for that week.

When I began my weight loss journey, I didn't weigh because I didn't want to face the #s, then as I progressed, I weighed once a week to see my progress. Now that I'm more stable mentally with my wl plan, I weigh every day. I don't fret over small bounces and it keeps me accountable, if the scale went up very much, I would know I needed to change some things. Just me right now.
