Good morning! Thank you very much Lexi and Lori.

I am so happy, this morning I was down to 190.2 so it stuck. I had a good fast day yesterday, a 24 hour fast and it went okay.

I got to thinking of when I hit onderland and looked back on the posts.

So, I have lost over 8 lbs in the last 2 months so I'm happy with that. Proof enough that 5:2 works for me.

Let's keep on keeping on, hope everyone has a good day!

Looking good here ladies. I will be doing 5:2 for a while, although I am really still trying to do EOD rotations. Family here for a long time, which is great except for my weight.

128.2 this morning.

WOW! Everyone is on a roll! Next week it is my turn to start rolling!

Monday morning I'll be facing the scale and starting my 8 week Step 1 of the Metabolism Miracle. I have to go shopping this weekend and get stocked up on the things I will be eating most. Proteins and veggies for the most part. Some low carb tortillas and bread if I can find them.

Can't wait to celebrate onederland with you next week Lexi!

Have a great weekend all!

Hi everybody, wow this is great! I'm excited too!

I hit the floor running yesterday morning, both pups to the vet for their annuals and they acted like "wild childs" of course , out to eat lunch with Mr., afternoon with friends, bought some groceries, in the bed by 8, I was whooped.

Began today by getting Mr. off to one of his oot shows, Sprayed Scotch Guard on my living room furniture so it would have 12 hours to dry before he gets home and I can keep the pups off of it. Then I make his favorite gumbo and it's in the crockpot for this weekend. The devil tempted me BUT I bought him a small devils food cake and I frosted it like his Mom did. I just didn't trust myself with the cake batter.

Now I'm going to relax and enjoy a fast day which seems safest for me. I can handle 24 hours I think.

Anyhoo, hope everyone has a good day and weekend!

Happy Monday! Hope everyone is off to a good start this week!

This is day 1 of the "Metabolism Miracle" for me. So far, so good. The only problem was being "forced" to eat something before boot camp as I'm not used to that. The rule is to eat something within 1 hr of waking up, so I ate a cheese stick. When I got home I ate a HB egg & 1 slice of low carb bread with some natural peanut butter.

As predicted, the scale was up this morning. Just 5 lbs above my low of this summer, so that's not too bad. I'm not changing my stats as I know those 5 pesky lbs will be gone soon along with a bunch of their friends!

According to this new plan, I'm not supposed to weigh myself again till the end of Step 1, which is 8 weeks. I'm hoping my clothes and the mirror will give me all the encouragement that I need to keep going. Step 1 is the most stringent and then it becomes a bit easier.

Enough of my rambling.......make it a good day!

my gym says to always have something before a workout, helps maintain lean muscle mass. i'd recommend getting a good quality protein and drinking that with water maybe you could drink half a scoop before and half after?

Good advice Lexi! I have some Whey protein powder that I could use. I'm up early this morning for my run with DH. I ate my cheese stick and it went down pretty well. I was hungry this morning after Day 1 yesterday.

They say it is about Day 4 when you start to feel good on this plan. Takes that long for your body to figure out how to work efficiently on low carb. The first 3 days are when you feel tired, have a headache, are grouchy. Poor DH!

Day 2....bring it on!

Hi 5:2 folks!

I am glad there is a separate thread for this! Hello hello! I am reading a book about it - not by Dr. Mosley, but by someone named Kate Harrison.. Neither has claimed to invent it, but Dr. Mosley made it popular. I will probably get his book after I can prove to myself I can handle the 500 calorie days. Kate 's was only $2.99 on Kindle.

Last year I tried JUDDD - Alternate Day fasting... and I just could not handle the every other day deprivation. I couldn't enjoy myself on my eating day, because I was concerned that tomorrow I'd be miserable. On the 5:2, the down days are not as often. Hopefully, after a few weeks of knowing that it isn't as horrible as my brain says it is, possibly I'll do an extra fast day a week - I guess a 4:3, versus every other day.. We'll see.

I am not starting the rotation just yet because I am going on vacation next week (the 7th to the 14th) and know that I'd gain back whatever I lost. I am going to just moderate myself with fairly LC until then.

So, any success stories out there? Is anyone trying to stay LC in addition to the fasting days? I will read through the threads, but in the meantime would love to hear how everyone is doing as well as any tips and tricks.

Thanks,

Judy

Hi Dipgal! as far as calories go on my down days i've had success with trying to stay around 700 cals on those days. i figure the more i lose then i'll decrease that. but im still a 200 lbs woman. even if im eating 1550 on my up days and 700 on my down days that averages to around 1300/day each week but its not consecutively so i think thats why it works it tricks my body. Anyway i've done two rounds of about 7-8 weeks each time and always lost a good deal, the last round i started in july ended in sept and i lost 13.2 lbs in 7 weeks. those are great results. i was following weight watchers on my up days but now im just calorie counting and still working out (i don't workout on low cal days). anyway, i think you'll do great. oh and im not low carbing at all but i do try to eat alot of protein, usually 100 grams a day or more. i have a protein shake for breakfast normally on up days so that helps. protein helps promote lean muscle mass and muscle burns more than fat.

anyway you'll do great. i just started my third 5:2 round this week. i'm the only one that does it in rounds so don't expect anyone else to say it that way but i find its good to give my body a break every now and then. i think i'll give it another 7-8 weeks and probably end around mid december then start up again mid january.

to everyone, i just finished reading the book "the fast diet" by Dr. Michael Mosley.

5:2 diet sound like something my DH and I could do together. So we started last week Thursday that was our 1st fast day, and we did it again on Monday without any issues. DH said he would stick with it

I'm down 3 lbs so far.

We will be fasting every Monday & Thursday, with lower carb. eating the rest of the week plus watching the cal. intake.

Thanks for replying LexiAnn.. Sounds you are an expert at this WOE. WTG on your excellent results!

Hi there shapeup!.. it must be nice to do it with someone. My DH may want to also..and that will help. Only, I am an emotional eater and do eat my meals. He is not an emotional eater and often doesn't eat anything until afternoon by choice. That will not be my choice (at least in the beginning), but I'll figure it out.

I'll be looking at the JUDDD thread for recipe ideas for down days. I am thinking a good "go to" main meal will be shrimp with veggies, stir fried in a small bit of coconut oil over shirataki noodles. I'll need to come up with something satisfying for my morning coffee.. I use half & half now.. probably 1/4 cup in my big mug and a half of coffee. Maybe for the fast days I'll use fat free half and half (anyone know how that tastes?) or???

Oh, and for even more support there is a forum on the Fast Diet website..

Hi Everyone!

Nice to see some new posters here! Even though I am not currently doing the 5:2 plan, I like to post here and keep up with everyone. I hope to return to it one day for maintenance. Anyway, welcome to the new posters! You'll do great!

I am on Day 3 of my 8 week really low carb plan. So far, so good. I had a good boot camp workout this morning and also joined a challenge for November. Whoever loses the biggest percentage of their starting weight gets a free month of boot camp. I'm going to try my best as that is great incentive. I'm trying to lose anyway, so why not join the challenge!

Have a happy Hump day!

Good morning and Happy Halloween!

If it isn't too much trouble, can everyone list how long they have been doing 5:2, and how much they have lost on it? And, did you have to change your calories at any time?

I am going to start tracking my "normal" calories starting today. It has been so long since I did that.. I have no clue what I eat on a normal day. A normal day is all meals at home, or just one sensible meal out.

I think I can start 5:2 on the "man's" calories on the fast days because I have a lot to lose. Then I'll lower it as I lose.

YAY for Lexi and seeing onederland! I can only dream!

I can only dream!
my weight loss started in march, 5:2 started in april. did it til june then took a break. started again mid july-sept. break and starting again now this week. Since march i've lost almost 50 lbs. the majority of my weight came off while i was on 5:2. i still count calories on my UP days. i try to stay around 1600 on those days. its not a free for all by any means. i've also incorporated exercise every week. i'm in the best shape i've been in for a while.
