2560 calories seems pretty high but considering I was up 20 hours straight it kind of balances out.

Good morning to all. Stayed under 1000 calories yesterday and scale was down a little this morning. Good to be back on track after the holiday and numerous celebrations.

Adjusting target goal to 2000 calories to maintain. If this holds true, it would be a 400 calorie jump from my low of 1600, meaning a 25% gain in calories to get to a maintenance level. This means I can eat more junk carbs though grocery costs now go up! My dilemma is I've not had the seasonal allergies or morning chest congestion since dieting. So either I have a food allergy to wheat or milk products or immune system just stronger? I'll have to experiment by adding more of one of these back to the diet.

Joanne - glad you're feeling better and you're still under 130 so that's good!

Both you and Sharon are soo close to goal. If it works out like mine you'll end up adding back about an extra 25% calories to get to your maintenance level. Took me about a 4 or 5 days of maintaining and another 5 or so days of adding calories to get calories up to point where I wasn't losing weight.

Problem is, most likely our weights aren't going to work out like yours. You've had consistent losses, whereas our bods have been FORCING maintenance before another drop even though we've eaten to lose.

So it seems to me that when I get to my Goal weight - then what? I know if I upped my calories like you did, I'd gain my weight back fast.

I do think we have to take into consideration that women do lose weight differently than men.

Initially when I got to weight I added calories back to fast and the weight came back on. So here's what I'd suggest to quickly get your body adjusted to the new lower weight...

When you get to weight loss, maintain the calorie level you had been eating to get to your final weight goal (no celebration cake at this point). As you maintain that for a few days to a week your body will adjust to this as being the normal weight and your weight should actually drop below your target. Once that happens your body has adjusted to the new weight and needs more calories. Add in 50 calories for the day and if the weight continues to drop the following day, add another 50 to 100. Keep doing this until your weight no longer drops and that'll be your maintenance calorie target. At this point enjoy whatever food you'd like to celebrate. Results may vary but I am able to get another 25% calories without gain now.

I have a question and would like some input, please. I looked up the amount of calories I need to maintain a weight of 128 and it is 1500. I am going to try to eat that amount the next couple of days and see what happens. I haven't been counting carbs, only calories, the last few days and it seems to be working out OK. Does that sound like a solid plan? I guess it is trial and error at this point. I know what to do if I gain. I was going to try and get down to 125, but I feel good at this weight and I was told by a few people that I shouldn't lose any more. However, I don't know whether to "trust" them, being they are overweight themselves and it could be a "jealousy" issue? What sayeth the gang? Thanks for your help!

Hey Buddy! First, on your weight loss!

There is a whole Thread in the Lobby with that same question. IMHO is 1. Don't pay attention AT ALL what others say. 2. For sure do what is comfortable weight for you. 3. Don't discuss your Goal with anyone - except here.

However, remember that the reason you set 125 as Goal was to give yourself leeway with ups and downs. Also remember the older one gets the harder it is to lose even a few pounds so that might go into your action plan of what to do.

Personally, I would suggest taking a rest, then work off that last 3 lbs if you wish when you wish. This would be shaking up the bod anyway. How's your body fat? <- That tells you something too about what your Goal Weight should be. Just don't get discouraged. You lost so much in such a short time, your bod simply needs to rest.

Good Luck, Joannew! It's certainly been quite a journey on this path to health and weight. I've been planning to start posting weekly after tomorrows weigh-in. Might be a thought for your too. I did feel bad leaving you without Daily Weigh-Ins as the three of us were pretty consistent.

I will continue to count calories and basically eating like I have been. However, I'm joining the Exercise Thread under The Golden Years. I intend to focus more on exercise in the month of June.

Truthfully, I have never measured my body fat...thanks for the recommendation...it is 25.85% with the ideal being 22%, so I think that I will work towards that %.
