Cyclical Ketogenic Diet

Anyone else on CKD and finding results?

At the moment I do 45 mins cardio (cycling) and 30mins lifting every weekday on less than 10g carbs. breakfast is a protein shake (with heavy cream) and I sometimes have another shake after workout.

At the weekends I 'carb up'

the problems are, I feel bad carbing up and during the week it's hard work, so I'd better be going to make progress! :)

Someone say 'just stick at it!' please :)

I think I'm losing, and I'm getting in shape. I don't want to lose muscle too so a carb up is essential to give some glycogen to my aching muscles haha!

It's not carbs that help preserve muscle when losing weight--it's protein.

Carbing up is something that bodybuilders do to gain muscle, but someone who wants to lose weight, can simply develop existing muscle by remaining low carb and making sure that he/she gets sufficient protein.

Our muscles don't need carbs. The body maintains muscle tone with protein.

sure, of course, protein is the business! :) I think on CKD without the carb up, it's hard to do the amount of weight persistently as it replenished glycogen stores. However, it's got to be different for everyone. :) A cyclical diet often means I can keep going at it, knowing I have a scheduled time to eat other things
