Are you doing the BB? I have been having good luck with the CAD 1 hour meal usually late afternoon or evening. I feel better and sleep better too! I kind of like the idea of the BB but on the other hand I think I may fare better having the RM where it best suits me day to day?? I have not usually been having any CM at all, just the one meal although I am definitely eating more carbs in the one meal than I was eating in an entire day before.

I did CAD yesterday and will do it today for sure. I want to try the BB tomorrow just to see what happens. I will probably do the BB on Sat and Sun, also. I am going to be open to switch to a CAD day if something social comes up like dinner at a friends home. I do like the idea of having the RM meal at a time when it suits my schedule that is for sure. Oriana and MIW are having such great success on the BB I want to see what happens with me. Have s great losing day today!!

Yesterday we were on the road heading home from vacation. I ate my big meal by 9, then a CM before 4. I prepared some food when I got home, but realized I wanted to eat but wasn't actually hungry, so I didn't eat it! Yeah!

Today I had my big breakfast by 9:15. I'm planning not to eat anything else. But DH is home so it may be harder to get away with that.

Honestly, I think I prefer having my RM later in the day, I was having it around lunch time before. But I'm in a good position to experiment with BB for the next few days so why not give it a try? It seems to be working so well for several of you! Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I do eat ANY meal within an hour. I always took to heart what they claim they studied in CAD about biphasic insulin release. I am mad that they didn't clarify that ever about the other meals or even mention it in the SEC book but I apply it and so far it has served me well. It may be a bunch of bunk but if anything I think it trains someone to avoid binging and grazing and to have some selfcontrol. I could rarely eat beyond an hour anyways and find it is usually more than a generous enough time frame to eat.

Someone asked about getting sleepy after BB diet and I did real bad the first time around. I had never experienced it when eating later in the day but for BB if I did not eat enough protein/fat I would be soooo sleepy and want to nap! I don't get it anymore but it did happen to me and was very noticeable. I also go sweaty one time after eating which I think was definately a sign of high insulin output and then a glucose crash! Just be sure to eat enough protein. At least 7 OUNCES- not GRAMS.

I don't actually follow the BB diet other than try to be done by 9am for my carb meal, eat 7 ounces of protein, and if I need another meal to be done by 3pm. I also try to get a smoothie in also. Otherwise I follow CAD and eat ANY meal in an hour or less, try to "balance" it with 1/3 protein/fat, 1/3 low carb veggie, 1/3 carb but I actually found I can double the veggies, switch out with fruits, and double the carbs and still lose!

I am ONLY losing an average of 1/4 pound a week and that means one meager pound for an entire month. But I am doing high calorie so I am extatic!!!! I'll take it. I know my body is not only burning what I take in every day, but also burning stored fat and NOT storing anything I am eating to fat. It is painfully slow and if you scroll back you can see my daily wts and weekly/ monthly avg to see I am not lying about how slow I am losing but I am losing!

Stuffed to the gills and it is almost 7 p.m. I had a big ribeye, salad with ranch, 2 haagen dazs bars for breakfast at 5:30 a.m. I am looking forward to my free day Saturday. Next week I will have a couple 11 a.m. BB because of the teacher's convention but that is fine. Sunday is also a brunch BB for me. I'll let you know how my free day goes. I too noticed that the Hellers didn't mention an hour limit in their new SEC book which emphasizes the breakfast rm.

Another 1/2 pound gone!

Yesterday my BB was:
4am-Coffee and 1 TBSP Cream (drank within 15 min per CAD guidelines)
7:30 am-Steak with broccoli salad, cake, 1/2 fruit and nut Cadbury bar
Coffee and cream

Went to a funeral yesterday with tons and tons of food, but I wasn't the least bit tempted to cheat. Instead, I brought home a plate to have this morning for my BB
Hope you all have a great Friday!

Good for you! I too lost .4 lb. I ate my RM meal at noon the meal at the luncheon was very carby so I came home and ate about 5 oz of protein normally that meal sets me up for a sweet binge cause no matter what is served it usually doesn't have enough protein, it wasn't eaten all within an hour but it was the best I could do. Next month I will plan ahead and eat that protein before we leave for the meeting and then all of it should be within an hour. I will make a note in the calendar! I want to get started on the BB but life keeps happening. Did not eat anything after the RM except coffee with cream for dinner with hubby.

That is why our society is all overweight, diabetic, or prediabetic. We have too many carbs and we eat them all day long. It wears out our liver and pancrease producing too much insulin, that makes us hungry, makes us store what we eat to fat, and makes us LESS sensitive to insulin so the body produces even MORE. It is horrible. Luckily following a few rules from CAD and even BB you can reduce insulin resistance and take off weight while controling hunger and ALSO still eat awesome foods daily!!!

Mary, that's still very good to know that you could stray outside that hour mark and still lose. I've got to go on a field trip with one of my kids in a few weeks to an ice cream factory and then to have a picnic. I've been wondering how badly it would hurt me if I went over the hour. I know SEC doesn't mention the hour rule, but I really try to follow it any ways. I also like the idea of eating some extra protein before going to a luncheon just to make sure you've got the protein allotted for. The protein really makes the difference.

Down 1.4 today. As expected, went to lunch with DH yesterday but ordered salad with chicken, no dressing (just salsa) and no guacamole. Only ate half, had the rest this morning .

Today had 1 cup broth. 1 egg, 1 bacon, 1 slice cheese and some onion, all scrambled together in butter. Yogurt with blueberries. Salad with chicken, salsa, olives, and guacamole. Seasoned almonds. My dessert was coconut manna mixed with cocoa powder and sweetener.

So far I don't enjoy eating by 9 the way I enjoyed having my RM mid-day. But I could use a weight-loss kickstart, so I'll do it a few more days to see what happens. I was worried about not eating with DH, but he joined Nutri-System yesterday so once his food arrives that won't be an issue I guess.

I love reading all your posts!

Yes! That's exactly how I feel. Finally, I'm in control! Amazing how those hormones being off can affect us.

Well, I was up .8 this morning, but I was not surprised. We had a lot of leftover sent home with us after my husband's grandmother's funeral. It was like Thanksgiving for breakfast. Also, I ate a lot of very salty meat at my BB yesterday. I found out later the turkey I ate had been injected with soy sauce So, I guess I'm lucky its not more!
But, hey, its gonna bounce around from time to time. I'd say a 4lb loss in my first week is definitely a good start. I also noticed this morning as I had my BB that I didn't feel so frantic about the junk. Don't get me wrong, I ate some junk at my BB, but some mornings I start with chocolate, because I just feel like I can't wait to get the sweets. Today was different. I still wanted to be able to have my sweets, but I was like a junkie needing my fix
Yesterdays meal looked like this:
4am-coffee and cream (1.5 TBSP) consumed in 15 min per CAD
7:30 am- coffee and cream, turkey (injected with soy as marinate , Spiral ham, BBQ w/sauce, strawberry conjealed salad, deviled eggs, Slice of torte cake, 1/2 slice pecan pie, 1/2 slice sweet potato pie, 1/2 slice choc cake.
OK after reading that, I do realize that I was very carb heavy on my BB

I did walk for 1 hour on the treadmill at 3mph.
For dinner, I ate the toppings off of 2 slices of pizza (threw away the crust). Though really, I should have just skipped it. I wasn't really hungry.

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried taking the chromium that the Hellers mention on CALP?? I wondered if anyone had tried it and noticed any difference.

How is everyone else doing??

Good Morning, down .4 again this am. Yesterday I ate my RM for breakfast. 630 calories. Got hungry about 2:00 and had 2ounces of turkey and coffee with cream. Dinner out was salad with blue cheese, salmon and asperagus. As long as I can lose .4 eating like this and not craving stuff I will do this on the weekends (Fri & Sat) because we go out with friends those nights most of the time.

Sunday I am going to do a big brunch about 8:30 and see if I can get through the day without eating. I love this and will admit to loving the fact that I can have sweets and not feel guilty.

This morning I am having salmon quiche, with slices of Swiss cheese and 8 dove choc. The quiche is crust free. I am gluten intolerant (been tested).

Lunch is going to be coffee with cream if I need it and dinner will be either salmon or steak. We are going out again. Hope to see another loss in the am. Have a great Sat and happy losing.

Well at 3 a.m. this morning I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep.........so excited for my free day and running this morning. I was 106.5 at 3 a.m. so I lost another 1/2 pound and it was a really early weigh in. I had 2 large mango and then ran, came home and had 4 slabs of cheese and coffee with sugarfree hazelnut syrup and heavy cream. I am not sure about the rest of the day but it will be a big one! LOL! Tomorrow I will be back on plan with a steak, salad and haagen dazs brunch and the rest of the week is going to be later bb brunches as I have a teacher's convention to go to. I don't worry about eating or not eating with others anymore. I have to do what is best for me eating wise or I won't be happy. I know it sounds selfish but I have to take care of my eating first or I will be miserable.

Today is the perfect day for me to do BBD. DH is off on a fishing day, so no one else will know what I do or don't eat. I had my eggs this morning. Then leftover fajita filling. Nuts. Dried apple slices. A double portion of homemade lc chocolate ice cream and part of a dark chocolate bar. The fat in the ice cream keeps me full. Yesterday I needed a second meal. Got hungry around 3 and just got hungrier, it wouldn't go away. Weight stayed the same today.

Still not enjoying this, so I'm still considering going back to normal breakfast and large lunch. But like I said, today was the perfect chance, so I'll see how it goes!

I did it for the fist couple of months and can't say I noticed a difference one way or another. It is supposed to make your body LESS resistant to insulin but they also say it comes natural in black pepper (Get a pepper mill and crack it fresh and wine, cheese, other foods so just put black pepper on everything and you will get enough!

I totally agree with you about that. I remember you said how you keep cookies in your purse one time at Starbucks. I started carrying snickers in my purse because one time we went out for sushi and there is no dessert there. I had to go to a drive through and they took too long and I was out of my hour and I just sucked it up and skipped dessert but I was sooooo mad and stewed for the next day. It was weird but I felt cheated that I didn't get to have my dessert that day! LOL So I remembered about how you said you just have to look out for yourself. I also just tell people about my diet and they can take it or leave it. I know the science behind it, have enough other diets under my belt and am a nurse and I see DAILY the effects of people following the SAD and their doctor's non-advice about nutrition. I don't care if people think I am weird or a binge eater because I eat my entire day's portion in one sitting. I know I am not pumping insulin in my blood stream the other 23 hours a day which will eventually kill me and I also know I am tricking my body into releasing LESS insulin for the one meal I do eat so that is how I can get away with eating what I am eating and still lose weight.

You can ask Oriana I hated it too the first couple of tries. I was hungry hungry hungry later, got real sleepy the first day in an hour after eating and even broke out into a sweat. But I wasn't eating enough protein or fat and once I adjusted that it made a big difference. I also think there is something to the fruit and yogurt or ice cream smoothies. You are just able to get more food in as a smoothie than you could ever chew in an hour. Basically just get real full, be sure enough of it is dense nutrition and eat whatever carbs and don't worry about it. If you don't like doing BB, this WOE is flexible and YOU get to decided how and when you want to eat! It works no matter what but I know it is faster when eating RM early.

I really want to try the BB tomorrow just to see what will happen. I won't have trouble with the protein or the fat but am wondering about a fruit smoothie. I would love to do ice cream but am allergic to egg yolk. Don't know if there is such a thing as no egg ice cream.

Well my weekly avg so far has got me in the 212's which I almost can't believe! That will have my 3rd straight week loss in a row! We'll see the actual amount tomorrow but I am VERY pleased with this rate of loss as well as NO hunger! I seemed to have figured out how to get another 23 hours of fasting out of eating RM so early but it is finally working well for me!

There has got to be a no egg ice cream! Maybe the health food stores? I know some vegetarians will ingest dairy but not eggs. Or make your own? Or just do some type of sorbet and add add add awesome things to it like HWC and chocolate, etc. I add Half and half when I accidentally purchase "slow churn" which is Safeway's type of lower fat ice cream. Hate it when I do that but it still tastes good. Plus I found a "cream top" yogurt that has 9 gm of fat! It is by Brown Cow and Safeway carries it. It has 4 probiotic strains and I add that to my fruit smoothies. Always balance your carbs with a fat/protein and it will carry you much farther throughout the day.

Oh man, when I first went on BB I was starving by dinner but hung on and then after about 3 days I wasn't as bad. It seemed my body adjusted. Now on maintenance I get that 7th day as a free day which is today and I am almost having to force feed myself as my body is not wanting to eat but I am anyway and am thoroughly enjoying it. So far I have had mangos at around 3:30 a.m., ran and then 4 oz. cheese and lg. coffee with cream, noonish I had 8 oz steak with a med. salad and ranch and a diet mt. dew. Now I am not hungry but will still eat dinner and ice cream tonight.

MIW can you tell us if you have seen real raw foodists or fruitarian/vegetarians with unhealthy blood levels? That was always a worry for me as I ate raw for so long and then when I went to CAD and then BB my greatest fear was clogged arteries even though I saw my blood pressure go from 130/90 to 100/60 as of today.

MIW don't you think you are losing faster eating a BB than you did eating it at 2 p.m. or later? I know I couldn't eat what I am eating without gaining if I ate it at 6 pm. like I used to. In fact, I remember running a marathon in California and ate a reward meal dinner only for 4 days and actually gained 5 pounds. I had some salt but nothing like I do now and not in the amounts I eat now. All I can remember is that I was really ticked that I had run a marathon and probably was the only person who fasted all day and only ate dinner for 4 days and gained 5 pounds!!

BTW ladies, I used to eat raw fruit all day, maybe 5 pcs. and a meal at night not quite as big as what I eat now and gained every time even running up to 10 miles a day. Can you believe that? Now I don't run that much at all except on my day off but lose. I was going to the bathroom #2 about 4 times a day too and you would think all that food would have been flushed out and I would have lost but NO not me.

I think the coconut ice creams might be no egg. Also you are right. Will look at sorbets. I might try to make my own. Tomorrow I have some carb masters yogurt which is low fat but I have whipping cream here. I am going to add some to the yogurt and then add raspberries and whip. Maybe put a little grated choc in it. What a way to start breakfast! I plan to have more salmon and spinach quiche and of course the dove choc. Does that sound ok?

I have been reading the BB book today and the author is all about lowfat/nonfat? I am confused and a bit scared to add carbs to a full fat breakfast
