I'm trying to do this without having to count everything i put in my mouth...that's what happen the last time i quit,having to write everything down takes so much time...not the writting but the calculating.

Wukong..started cross training twice a week and i've been so sore,so i'm thinking the inflamation is making me put on the weight but i know in the end it will even itself out.(i hope)

MG...Yes, exercising will definitely cause water weight for repair unless done for shorter periods like Wukong does. As long as you're aware, you won't get discouraged. It is better to exercise so one can keep lean muscle.

Wukong...You're so right. I just don't give bod enough time to repair. I'll try not to exercise for a few more days. I am contemplating going to another chiropractor who does xrays and who I feel will give me more guidance about exercising. My issue now isn't misalignment, but range of motion. This is very frustrating as I was always naturally flexible my whole life.

Lesson for the rest of you! Don't get into the position where you CAN'T do something when you're my age. Part of my problem was not taking care of the issue a few years ago.

Mommygate if you have a smart phone with a camera it is much easier with the right app to count the calories. Just scan in the bar code of the product with the smart phone and figure out how much of the serving or how many you're having. You can even create your own recipes by scanning in a bunch of items that make up the meal. Even with the app though if you're cooking lots of new recipes from scratch a lot it does take a lot of time & effort to get it all inputted. Works best if you have a lot of the same meals.

Hello everyone!

Just popping in to say hello, since I still don't have any weigh-in devices Might be a good thing though since the weekend has been anything but calorie controlled

......I was going to comment on everyone individually but looking across the board it seems that everyone had a "GOOD" weekend, including me, just I don't know the damage.....Except....WUKONG of course!! Our losing machine!!

And for us indulgers....back on the wagon!

Can relate to what you said, Joannew, about not wanting to post.

Not sure what caused my gain as I ate beautifully yesterday. Could be several factors involved. Does the low carb bread I bought from a bakery Sat. have too much salt (no label)? Or is bod reacting to yesterday taking both Aleve and Glucosamine? <- sure helped though. One or both plus lack of sleep last night? Oh, how I do wonder.

Good morning to all. I am back to counting calories and certainly can relate to all that are having a problem with sodium. I went back to low carb, but just can't seem to lose doing that any more. I was eating around 1200 cal, but just didn't lose either. Ate 990 yesterday and was down a little this morning. Since I am 5'1" and old , think in order to lose anything, I will have to really keep calories low. That stinks, but guess that is just the way it is. I exercise too.
Glad several of you are doing great. I am going to try to come here more often to keep me accountable and give other support.

Maryann...Your body is just as sensitive to sodium as mine. I retain several pounds of water every time I go over my sodium limit and then it takes me forever to flush it back out.

Hope...Glad to have you back!

Mommy...I hear you on the veggies and fruits, there are only a few things that I like and could eat all the time like grapes and bananas, may be I should go on a grape diet

Like much in life, having the right tools can be a big help for convienence, saving time. For weight loss my tools include a blender ($120) for morning smoothies, android phone with camera to scan labels and track calories (can buy a used one for $40 off ebay), digital scale that tracks visceral fat, fat%, muscle% ($70 on amazon), nice quality treadmill, pullup bar, weight machine, dumbbells, curl bar (gym membership works too). I also supplement my smoothie with a multimineral / vitamin powder, potassium, gloccomine (sp?). And a huge help for me in particularly as I was under the low for testosterone was taking shots which help with muscle gain & retention. The above isn't necessary, it just makes it more convienent or a time saver and as busy as we all are those two factors can affect staying committed.

Erika - close to hitting goal for month maybe tomorrow as tonight I'll be having grilled salmon, salad with salad shrimp and cottage cheese and I generally drop on that. I'm also going to either take the dog on a walk if it's sunny or run / walk later on the treadmill. I really want to get my virtual age at or below my real age and drop the visceral fat to at least a 7 so I'm now going for 175 as my final goal.

Good morning guys! I forgot to pop in and post my weight yesterday. I'm not really tracking anymore. I feel as if 3 months of tracking with WW has me in a good spot to watch calories and portions. I'm still thinking that 140 is a good weight for me but I'm going to let my body decide how it wants to get there.

I've been paying special attention to how certain foods make me feel. Right now I'm just trying to eat for health everyday. I've turned into a gardening freak again and the I am feeling the pain. It's a good pain though.

Maryann...I know how you feel sodium is a bigger enemy for me than carbs. I actually DO track and try to stay under 2000 mg a day ideally under 1500 mg, I let my calorie counting site do the adding up for me, and like Sharon I check labels like crazy for the sodium content.

Sharon...Going back down again That is the one thing that drives me crazy about this daily weighing thing, the FLUCTUATIONS! On the other hand it would drive me nuts not to weigh every day, can't win!

Good morning to all and thank you for the nice warm welcome back.
I am not doing so well. I have gained a # every day since Monday and have cut my calories to 800-900 and am watching my sodium, so I just don't know what is going on. Really discouraging. I was eating around 1200 and was gaining on that so cut down and am still gaining. Eating lots of veggies and protein along with fruit so may need to cut out fruit. Do you think that would help? Any ideas will be appreciated.
All I can think of it might be my medications.
I am still walking for an hour a day, too.
I did have around 10 to get to my goal and now it has piled up to 15-20.

Hope, I can feel your frustration. Yes, it could be your medications for sure. However, what plan are you following now as you mentioned low carb isn't working for you any more? Same here when I went on it in Feb.

Yes, I would think 1200 would have been too high since according to Livestrong.com, mine would be 1135-1177 to lose a pound a week and I'm 5 1/2 inches taller than you. First step would be to find out what your calorie level should be and then let us know your present WOE.

BTW, we're not OLD, we're OLDER. We definitely do have a harder time losing.

I'm also going through a frustrating period trying to figure out what is going on with bod. We both are eating clean and watching our salt so something else is going on.

Thank heavens you're hanging in there and not giving up!
