Good morning everyone! I really need to finally get to goal (115) after toying with the same 5 lbs over and over. I got so close a week ago doing a meat&eggs fast (117), but then I had a birthday party, binged on carbs, and I ballooned up to 127 lbs! Is that even normal, to gain 10 lbs of water retention? I mean, I know I did over-eat about 2000 calories, but really...? And TOM's approaching, so I guess no hope of getting to my low weight anytime soon!

Anyhoo here's to new beginnings:

MARCH GOAL: 115.

WEEK ONE

Friday 3-1 = = = 123.8 lbs (56.2 kg)

Good morning all. Thanks for keeping us going Maryann. Not sure what's going on with my weight this morning. Down 2 lbs. since my weigh in on Tuesday. I'm claiming it since it's Friday.

I'm shooting for the same weight loss in March that I had in February. I think it's realistic but we'll see what this old body has to say about it.

Good Morning Ladies

I'm going to follow Erika's Monthly Goal from the 1st to the 1st.

Ok, I'll join the rest of you with a Goal of 5 lb loss in March. Normally I'd be doing a Weekly Goal of 1 lb., but what the heck.

February 1st = 133.5 ====== March 1st = 128.5
March 1st ===128.5 =======April 1st ==

MARCH GOAL...123.5 pounds

Week One

Friday 3-1........128.5 4th day at this weight. I'd say I need a shake-up here.
Saturday 3-2

dianda...Congratulations on getting so low towards your Goal! Important to just hang in there. Keep in mind your low weight is your real weight.

Awesome Erin ...What a drop!

Joannew...You didn't go up like you expected! Hang in there, Girl!

Erika...You're on a roll, Missy.

Erika...Haven't found those two spices yet for the meatballs. Going to head out to Safeway in a bit and see if they have them. If not, I'll just add the onion and use cayenne red pepper instead. I use cayenne on practically everything like you do with your two spices. Assuming I find those spices, I think I'll make some with them and some with cayenne and see which I like best.

I think I'll do the lower fat for a few days and see if that makes me move. Now that I have high fat foods around....

Good morning!

Surprised to see the scale has not bounced up (yet)

February 1st = 169.8=====March 1st = 167.2

MARCH GOAL--I am dreaming BIG, I want to get to 162 pounds!

Friday 3-1........167.2.......Adding veggies starting today, so this will bounce up
Saturday 3-2...167.0.......It's tiny but I'll take it!

Dianda... to our little group! I see the scale has already moved for you!

Maryann...We WILL knock off those 5 pounds this month!

Joanne...Fantastic hob holding that low!! Also, please do me a favor, keep threatening me...it seems to work

Sharon...Also holding at the low! I wouldn't drive myself crazy over those spices Sharon, I would just go and buy those little meatloaf packages or hamburger seasoning, or just salt pepper and cayenne. I will be making another batch of it this weekend, I ate them all . I really think switching from high fat to low fat has made a difference for me Sharon, I know Atkins is based on high fat but I seen people on their threats that had to drop the fat because it backfired on them, I just might be one of them! Amazingly enough I still have not been hungry, have not cheated in 6 days!!! (knock on wood x1000) Doesn't make any sense at all!!!

Erin...Awesome job! Dang straight you'll claim it, you EARNED it !!!

Wukong...New low, way to go girl!!!

Good morning all! Nothing to write home about here. Saturday night is my treat night. We have been going out for sushi and wine. When I first gave up the wine in the house in Jan. I would REALLY look forward to those 2 glasses in Saturday. Today I'm sort of Meh about it. Think I'll skip it. I've been really "spendy" this month so we'll just save the money this week. The fact that I don't want wine is a HUGE milestone for me.

Erika...Yes, I think you're right about the low fat plus it depends on the individual what works. Erin is doing great with High Fat, yet you're now doing great with Low Fat. I know when I lost in '98, it was low fat.

However, I now have to get rid of the foods I bought for high fat - such as my beloved bacon. Yesterday I'd say I ate moderate fat - no mayo nor CO. I did make seven hamburger meatballs yesterday with left over from making hamburger patties. Just used onion, salt, ground pepper, and cayenne pepper. Same thing as in my hamburger patties. Meatballs will be handy though.

So proud of you for not cheating! I know your hunger and snacking was such a struggle!

My March goal is to get to or below 184. Ultimate goal is 175 to 180!

February 1st started at 202
Ended week one at 198.5
Ended week two at 197.2
Ended week three at 196.2
Ended week four at 194.4
Ended month at 192.4

March 1st started at 192.4
Week One
Sunday 2-24 194.2
Monday 2-25 195.2
Tuesday 2-26 195.4
Wednesday 2-27 193.8
Thursday 2-28 193
Friday 3-1 192.4
Saturday 3-2 192.0

Everyone is doing well, thought there'd be a few pound or better spikes after the fasting toward the end of the month - well done!

Ericka - thanks though I happen to be of the male persuasion

Sharss / Ericka - I've been doing low fat the whole time averaging 50% carbs, 27% fat, and 23% protein (lost 20lbs since Jan. 12th). Carbs I'm eating though are primarily from fruits / veggies and some wheat products with very low amounts of processed sugars. I have added in walking / running, pushups, situps and other exercises too but just enough to keep the muscle percentage up. Our group as a whole is losing weight on various plans so seems that the primary factor is carb counting.

I wondered, Wukong, when you commented once about testosterone. Didn't know why a woman would take that.

Yes, I noticed you were doing higher carbs since you mentioned it in one of your posts. Glad you gave more of an explanation of what you're doing. And you're right, everyone has kind of found their niche - except me so far. Yet I've lost so can't really complain.

You haven't posted your age so that could make a difference, plus if you had any health issues such as pre-diabetes and/or high Blood Pressure. Type of diet plays a role in these issues.

Your diet reminds me of my WOE my whole life except for the last four/five years. Sugar foods were an exception and I had always exercised. No junk food - until last few years plus no exercise.

My biggest disappointment is that my kids haven't followed their growing up diets. My three daughters married men who were raised differently and I cringe at what they feed their kids - all those sugar and carbs. They should know better! (That was a vent! ) One son married a health conscious lady, but a low fatter. When he developed HBP, doc told him to avoid red meat and fat. Another son ate unhealthly and has had a stroke already. I guess someday when they ALL go to pot, they'll remember what Mom tried to teach them.

You're doing great the way you're working your plan!

I haven't been good at all yesterday! There was our diploma ceremony and I spent all day and night outdoors, till 4 in the morning, with friends. I was doing so well until I gave in to alcohol and then it was pizza time, and I got a pastry. Carb count was about 100 g for Saturday and 50 for today, counting the croissant. I feel like sticking to this diet is sooooo hard when you're out with a social group. Ugh, I'm so disappointed with myself. The results aren't catastrophic, though so that's good I guess but I really need to kick myself into discipline. Today I'll be drinking lots of water and exercising!

MARCH GOAL: 115.

Week One - from 123.8 lbs to 123 lbs

WEEK TWO

Sunday 3 -3 = = = = 124 lbs (56.3 kg)

Congrats Wukong for that scale inching down! And good job to all of you who are sticking to this with better willpower than me

Good morning all!

Dianda, today is another day to be utterly fabulous!! I didn't do so hot yesterday either. I'm not sure if I stayed on plan or not. I'm getting sloppy with my measuring. I had a fried pork steak and 1/2 sweet potato for dinner last night. I usually measure my butter out but didn't so maybe I used 3 TBL. On WW points that is 9 and I only get 26 for the day. I'm back to paying more attention today.

Sharon- I'm a female, age 55 and I do testosterone also. I have the pellets implanted every 3 months. I'm due for a "refill" this month actually. I can tell when my tank starts to run low.

Give yourself a break if you went up a pound or so, that's expected given many here finished up with some fasting to close out February and the weekend schedule is often a lot different than the weekday making it more difficult to calorie count. We're all doing great

Sharon, I'm 53 and have really high cholesterol primarily due to high tryglicerites (sp?); blood pressure normal. My low T contibuted in part to depression and making it hard to stay in shape. But it's possible the high levels of visceral fat which affects the organs, lack of exercise, and eating too much processed sugars contibuted to the low T and depression. I've started monitoring my moods with an app to see if how often and what causes me to feel down. So far I've had one down day in 8 days. Overall my moods since starting the T shots and losing the weight is much improved which is encouraging.

Two of my boys are extremely fit but my middle son is about 25lbs over and gains weight easily. He just married and I and his wife are pretty close and she is very open to eating healthy. She thought she did good a couple days ago when she exercised off 400 calories and later ate a footlong at Subway until I calculated that she had about 1400 calories in that sub and over 2000 for that day.

Maybe your recent diet change will give you quicker results. Do you use an app to add back calories gained from exercise? For me, between the scale, app, exercise and accurate calorie counting I can pretty much guarantee weight loss of 2 to 3 lbs a week if I'm about 250 calories a day under for the day. Now before I go out to eat I'll go to the restaurant website and find the best combination of calories and food. Last night I had 1 side and 2 entrees of 480 calories total with water. The other sides were close to the 480 calories by themselves. Or at a national Sub chain I'd normally get a footlong that was 950 calories but used their website to get a footlong for about 300 calories less. I forgo taste for quantity in the process but we all know that things that taste the best are ususally higher in fats / sugars so that's ok.

----------

My March goal is to get to or below 184. Ultimate goal is 175 to 180!

March 1st started at 192.4

Week One - from 194.4 lbs to 192 lbs

Week Two
Sunday 3/3 192.2
Monday 3/4
Tuesday 3/5
Wednesday 3/6
Thursday 3/7
Friday 3-8
Saturday 3-9

Went to the movies with youngest and bought a large popcorn without salt / butter and ate about 2/3rds of it and was surprised to come home and look up to see there were over 900 calories in that. Fortunately I'd eaten 480 cal for dinner so didn't affect me too much but still... 600 calories of popcorn. Just goes to show that you pretty much need to look up everything ahead of time to not get any surprises.

Good Morning Ladies and Gent

Looks like I'm not the only one bouncing around today. At least I moved for the first time in five days even if up. Must be that shredded wheat cereal I ate last night. Ya, a first time. At least it could have been something good like a piece of pizza <- but not in the house.

March 3 - March 9

Sunday…….3-3…..129 oops, wrong direction.
Monday…....3-4
Tuesday……3-5
Wednesday...3-6
Thursday…..3-7
Friday……...3-8
Saturday…...3-9

Dianda...Don't be so hard on yourself. You're doing great! A 1 pound of water weight isn't bad at all. Be happy you enjoyed yourself with your friends celebrating and for heaven sakes, stop beating yourself up. You can now get back on track.

Erin...Wow, didn’t know women took testosterone. Or is that part of the estrogen treatment? Goes to show, never too old to learn something new. Good job hanging in there, Erin!

Joannew and Maryann
..We seem to belong to the oppsie up club today. May the rest of the week go in our direction.

Wukong...Great job in hanging in there, Wukong! Thanks for the reply. Jeez, I didn't know subs could have that many calories. How clever of you to check out restaurant foods before you go and deciding what to eat. I have the same issue with visceral fat, but also subcutaneous fat brought on by wrong eating and total lack of exercise. I googled the subject of visceral fat and learned a few things. So thanks.

No, I don't have an application that show calories in and out. LiveStrong had one where one could track, but at the time I couldn't stay at 950 calories, although I usually do now on Atkins. Haven't been exercising since Jan. Keep planning to do yoga to get started, but have been so tired. So far I've only had a few days of not being tired since I started trying to lose weight 12/29/12.

Yesterday I did low fat, but screwed up by eating cereal late and today it'll probably be high fat to get rid of bacon. Just doing bacon and eggs. Tomorrow I'll start on low fat. Wasn't as tired yesterday and so far today.

Thanks again for your input, Wukong!

Missy Erika

Good morning all. Maryann- I didn't do so great this weekend either. I fell into some peanut butter cookies. Oh well, onward and upward. All sweets are out of the house this morning, so that will help.

I hit the "tired of dieting" stage this weekend. It's hard work and feels stressful on my body. I had a slight headache all weekend that wouldn't go away. Low backache and one of my knees hurt terribly! I logged my calories and carbs into a tracker and I'm eating enough calories. Carbs usually between 50-70, calories between 1200-1500.

I think I just wanted to blame it on the diet. No headache or any other pain this morning.

Joannew- Yeah on the new low!!!

Dianda- Hang in there. You should see a good drop when it passes. Sometimes I miss my hormones but I definately don't miss the monthly cycles.

Hi Wukong and Sharon.

Erika...Hope all is well and you're just having 'puter problems. You've never ever missed a day. Hope you're not sick.

Hang in there ladies and gent. Keep moving forward!

Hello everyone!

Sorry for not checking in for a couple of days, but I am fighting the hormonal demons...BIG time. Had a horrible two day carb binge and refuse to step on the scale...may be later on this week once it's "low tide".
Also did a lot of reading the past few days, trying to find out what is going on with my body, went and bought some more supplements to help with the cravings. I can't wait til my doctors appointment next month because I really think my hormones are completeley out of whack...my honey said my biological timeclock is ticking
Anyways, I just wanted to tell you guys that you all are doing a fantastic job!
Wukong, sorry for automatically assuming you were a girl

Earlier I had posted that I was going off plan today to try to shake up my bod. Then I went in and deleted that sentence because I don't have anything in the house to give me a lot of calories plus foods off plan except shredded wheat cereal.

However, I then decided to eat out and eat everything I wasn't suppose to. So after leaving the doc's office I stopped at Sherri's and ate a meal worth 960 calories - and that was the senior plate. Gosh, they even give the calorie count for seniors. More calories in one meal than I have been eating for a whole day.

Soooo...scale may jump up tomorrow, but this is what I planned to shake up my bod.

Erika. No excuse scaring us to hell and back.

You don't think we didn't worry that something bad happened to you?

Love ya anyway. Glad you're alive and not in hospital or something.
