Good morning to all. Just checking in. Lost 1# last week, but was # that I had gained the week before. So, I am sorta spinning my tires - so to speak. But, I am on plan and know it will come off eventually even though it is going to take a long time. I am still working on the new gained #'s from my big birthday celebration a few weeks ago.

Looks like all of you are doing well and are on plan. I can certainly relate to that water weight retention and know it can be so depressing. I have quit daily weigh-in's on that account.

Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend,
Hope

Joann nice weekly drop!

Ok, despite being about 150 calories on average under per day of goal I didn't lose any weight and I'm pretty sure I know why; I only did cardio on the treadmill Sunday. Looks like I need to make myself do 15 to 20 minutes of cardio to where my heart rate is elevated and I'm sweating by the time I'm done combined with the calorie counting to drop a few pounds a week. Btw - I did pushups / pullups / situps all week but that doesn't seem to have the desired affect. I'm going to try and do the cardio at least 3 times this coming week to see if my assumption holds true.

Hello everyone!

Well I finally braved the scale today, up 10 pounds, for an even 177 pounds, may be the shocker I needed to get my eating back under control, one would thing I'd be already stuffed by the amount of supplements I take, but to no avail...

To all you losers and maintainers...keep up the fantasic work

I'm inclined to agree with you on the cardio getting the heart-rate up and sweating. Although you do seem to lose doing that while I maintained the same weight for three days. Kelly Coffey's DVD second workout may be Body Sculpture, but it's still cardio and works up a sweat. Could be because it's not taking all that much to get my heart rate up as I'm rather unfit.

My trendmill is an old fashioned one (not mechanized), slanted up and it's a real cardio workout and I hate it.

What can we do to help? I don't remember how long you have been dieting but your stats say that you have lost quite a lot in the past year.

Is it time to take a break and just maintain for awhile? Dieting is very stressful for me and it's hard on your hormones. Does you body need to rest for awhile? I'll try and find an old post that someone sent me a few years ago concerning this.

I was getting tired and starting to binge eat in Spring of 2011. I was at 160 and then got up to 170. I decided to just call goal and stayed there until January 2013 when I felt like I was in a good spot to start again.

Erika- This article really helped me when I needed it. It took me awhile to realize also that I needed to raise my carbs. I know that several folks on here who are Hypothyroid do well on 20 or less a day. I needed to raise mine to atleast 40. That was the physical aspect that was making me feel so bad.

The mental was an entirely different thing. It's taken me a few years to get into my happy groove and balance my treats with healthy eating. That's me talking today. I might be here posting in Nov/Dec and be back to struggling again. It's something I think we all will struggle with for life.

Hanging out here helps me the most!! Seeing so many posts from people who have lost tons and then come back and have put it all back on really makes me pay attention.

Ok, my lows look totally crazy, but after rechecking Wukong's other Thread, I see where he averaged three pounds a week for five weeks on the Low-Glycemic-Index Diet. So either my bod is normalizing or I'm losing lean muscle. I started that WOE eating last week.

I know, Wukong, I need that scale!

Erin...Excellent article and it's something I believe in.

My March goal is to get to or below 184. Ultimate goal is 175 to 180!

March 1st started at 192.4

Week One - from 194.4 lbs to 192 lbs (-2.4lbs)
Week Two - from 192 lbs to 189.8 lbs (-2.2lbs)
Week Three - from 189.8 to 189.4 (-.4lbs)

Week Three
Sunday 3/17 188.8
Monday 3/18
Tuesday 3/19
Wednesday 3/20
Thursday 3/21
Friday 3/22
Saturday 3/23

Sharon, glad you're able to find some humor in my big drop for the week Nice overnight drop, you're having excellent results and with all the exercise you're doing you're probably gaining muscle - keep it up!

Btw - what is a manual treadmill slanted up? Do you run up a hill near your house, or, is it like a big hamster wheel?

Erin well said about the stress of dieting. I can't wait to get to weight so I can eat a bit more fat and just more calories in general.

Sharon glad you're hanging out among weightloss buds. We know the struggles, some of us more than others. Our groups motivation for losing is probably diverse. I am greatly motivated due to a separation after 28 years and just trying to feel good about myself doing something I can control. My sons have 6/8 packs and are in really good shape so I'm just envisioning myself like that as the end goal. You already had a major weight loss, a major accomplishment. So even if you maintain a week, loose a lb the next week and maintain another week you're slowing losing weight. In a year of just one lb every other week you'd drop 26lbs!
Joanne Wow you're only .4 from youf final goal Awesome
Maryann we had our maintaining week so lets get 2 or 3lbs this week to make up for it! Just got to force myself to exercise more but I did just run tonight so it's a good start.

Today I ate at subway but remembered last time where it had 2500 gms of sodium in that one 12" so I got online and found the lowest sodium sandwich and got it down to 700mg. But it was pretty much just a veggie sandwich with vinegar when done sans pickles, olives, and banana peppers (all have salt). I'd planned putting fresh avocado on it at home to make up for the lack of meat but alas it'd sat too long and was brown inside.

GM or GA Fellow Calorie Busters!

My pattern has revived. Bod will do what it will do.

March 17 – March 23

Sunday…….....3-17…..125.5 NEW LOW
Monday……....3-18…..126.5
Tuesday……...3-19
Wednesday….3-20
Thursday…....3-21
Friday………....3-22
Saturday….….3-23

I haven't exercised so will see what happens tomorrow after doing so today.

Wukong...Oh my! I wasn't finding humor in your small loss, but in your reaction with the word "Whoopee". On your loss!
Manual Trendmill means it's not motorized - it takes work to make it move. No, I don't walk up hill, but the trendmill is slanted at a 45% angle so it's like walking up a hill. When one is unfit, the heartrate goes up fast so my trendmill really makes me work and presently I have to pause to get my heartrate down before I continue. Don't really want a heart attack.

Joannew...Thinking of you on your Work Challenge Weigh-in.

All have a great day!

Sharon, sorry that was supposed to be a pretend mad ribbing, I knew what you meant. I looked up photo's of that treadmill, didn't know they made that type.

To all, an exceptionally illuminating video about weight gain and why people are gaining weight. It's a bit long but educational.

Good morning everyone!

Well here I come with my damage assessment. Ten days of being out of control equals 12 pounds over my lowest weight. I guess my new goal for the month is to flush out all this water and get back to at least 170 pounds. Was the feeding frenzy worth it? I think not but maybe/ hopefully I got it all out of my system and things get a bit easier

NOT GIVING UP

Week Four
Sunday 3-17-------178
Monday 3-18-------178.8
Tuesday 3-19------176.2
Wednesday 3-20---
Thursday 3-21
Friday 3-22
Saturday 3-23

Erin...Thank you for being so concerned! I think you hit the nail right on the head with your observation. I also know I'm not alone in this, from the friends I have on my calorie tracker none have lost any weight lateley, they all fight the same pounds over and over, so I know my body is not the only one fighting like hell. It's only a matter of getting out of this funk.

Good morning all! Still staying on plan here. I'm eating the same amounts but my weight loss has slowed. I'm just going to hang tough until I get there. I'm not sure yet where "there" is. Maybe 140?

Maryann...What you say about fasting is true, but it's also true that your body has to adjust to your new low so don't get discouraged. Well, I know you don't, but just adding another thought. My weight goes up and down and I make no changes except exercise. However, I'm also aware of our weight set points and how it takes a bit to overcome that.

Erika...Thanks, but I don't worry about my weight going up a bit especially since I'm eating right. So it's just a matter of what my bod wants to do. Hopefully some fat is changing to muscle. At least now when my cat jumps on my stomach when laying on the couch, I feel her landing on muscle rather than flab. Great drop there!

Wukong...Wow! Lotsa' salt at that Panda Express! You're in for a good drop! BTW, I googled Manual Trendmills and see they have cheapies for sale. My 20 year old Trendmill is huge and bulky. I think it's the kind they used to have in exercise places before the motorized ones came out. They don't even make the brand anymore - I don't think. Formula CFX 22500.
