Sharon...You're back! So good to see you You have been holding steady so you have not been too bad with your eating! Good luck with your new exercise routine, just remember not to pay too much attention to the scale as it will fluctuate, but you know that!
I have been bad for 3 days in a row, today has been a bit easier, so far so good... I decided to take it easy for a few weeks/months, I know the supplements I started to take will need at least a few weeks to start working. Then in April I finally have my doctors appointment, then I can have my hormones checked out and see if that is the problem, until then it's maintaining for me, I really need to take this weightloss pressure off of my mind May be things get easier again once I stop being so hard on myself.

Erika
...Yes, best if you don’t feel under losing pressure. Sometimes it good and other times one can feel overwhelmed. I do hope you take this time to do a little experimenting with your food plan. I know some folks on that Meat/Egg plan do very well, but you’re not them and perhaps only a day of that would be beneficial for you. 1. I don’t think it’s healthy to do long term. 2. Atkins (’72) suggests no more than three days.

If your bod needs more variety, then you need to listen to it. At the same time, eat something you like earlier maybe, but have healthy night snacks. It just seems to me to try to be too severe in your eating choices isn’t helpful. Something to think about maybe. You haven’t been “bad” for three days. You’re probably making up for too hard a food plan for yourself.

What supplements are you taking?

Hope you will check in daily.

I also do situps / pullups / pushups / curls & overhead weights, varying between a few different ones ever other day or so (no schedule). Usually I'll only do as many of them as I can for just the one round. So realistically I spend 5 minutes doing a few of the above maybe once or twice a day (not counting the run / walk). I don't go to a gym just do them at home. I use the scale I bought in January to make sure muscle % stays up while fat % drops. If I see muscle % dropping I try to increase the above.

Today is exactly two months since I got the scale and am now down 22lbs from my start. Virtual age went from 69 to 60 (I'm 53). Visceral fat dropped from 14 to 10 (9 is high side of normal), fat % dropped from 29 to 22.5%, and muscle % went from 34% to 35%. If I didn't have that scale I couldn't know for sure whether I'm losing good weight or bad weight.

For me a good motivator for getting in shape was finding myself single after a very long marriage ... its been a rough 5 months.. but getting in shape helps me feel better.
Wukong...Thanks for sharing your workouts. Exactly which Omron scales do your recommend? I checked them out on Amazon as you suggested a while ago, but there are two within the price range you mentioned. I checked the reviews, but about the same - either they didn't work for people or they did.

I've been considering getting one when I can swing it. Thanks for any input. You've certainly done a fantastic job in your weight loss and fitness program.

My March goal is to get to or below 184. Ultimate goal is 175 to 180!

March 1st started at 192.4

Week One - from 194.4 lbs to 192 lbs (-2.4lbs)
Week Two - from 192 lbs to 189.8 lbs (-2.2lbs)

Week Three
Sunday 3/10 191.6
Monday 3/11 190.4
Tuesday 3/12 190.0
Wednesday 3/13 188.6
Thursday 3/14
Friday 3/15
Saturday 3/16

Sharon, the one that is $60.98. It does need to be used on a hard surface and best to use after waking up & using the potty, prior to eating / drinking, for consistant results. Nice drop!

Erika...Ok, here goes some unsolicited input, but please read this article and then check out the low fat high carb diet Thread which was started by Wukong. That's where I got this link.

Insulin may thwart low-fat diet - CNN.com

Of course we know about "low fat", but the article goes into the low-glycemic-index diet which is what Wukong is following with great success. Then we have Erin who follows a high fat diet/watching calories on WW also showing great success. Joannew is also having great success, but don't know her WOE. Or don't remember if she mentioned. Point is all aren't losing on severe diet choices.

I did look back on your past posts and see how you've had a rough time since your MIA in Sept. and Oct. I know you said you lost 70 lbs before, but just maybe what worked then isn't going to work now.

OR just maybe your bod is having to get adjusted to your new weight. That was a lot of lost pounds.

Any-whoo, don't think it would hurt to try something new maybe??? Shock your bod a bit?

Hello calorie buster team !!!

Look at all you guys doing SOOOO good! So proud of you all to sticking it out and moving forward...or DOWNward I should say!!!

Thanks you guys for the kind words! I am still taking it day by day right now, trying to keep myself from overindulging and it is very hard. Sharon I think you actually hit the nail on the head with Wukong's insuline thread, I think that's what is wrong with me, I can't wait to finally see my doctor next month so I can get checked out from head to toe. I did a little reading before I came in here to post on hypoglycemia, and I have all the symptoms for that, especially the dizzy spells, passed out on the kitchen floor several weeks ago, dizzy spells out grocery shopping, insomnia, palpitations, and then of course the unbearable appetite...

BUT...I will make it, I refuse to give up, just taking a detour right now!

To all !

You have been ignoring your body talking to you! Bad you! So sorry you've gone through so much, but now your bod has forced you to listen.

Google "Low-Glycemic-Index Diet" and get lots of info. To follow it takes away hunger which might be a help. Plus there are so many options of food you can eat including fruit. Besides informative web sites, there are a few pdf files you can download.

I do hope you've been taking vitamins. Glad you're taking a rest. My suggestions have only been to maybe help until you get to your doc appt.

We're all behind you, Missy!

Good Morning Calorie Busters!

Hmmm...I'm beginning to think my scale is bonkers. It's taking a few weigh-ins to get a consistent weight and I know it's not the battery since I just changed it last month plus new batteries.

March 10 - March 16

Sunday…..…..3-10……….130
Monday…......3-11……….128.5
Tuesday….....3-12……….128.5
Wednesday...3-13……..127.5 New Low
Thursday…....3-14.......127.5
Friday……......3-15
Saturday…....3-16

Maryann I'm with you, Maryann, hoping my low lasts to the end of the week. Unfortunately, my pattern may rear it's ugly head.

Wukong...Way to go! Thanks for the advisement on which scale to get. As much as I'd like to get it, with limited funds I'm thinking of getting a cheaper one, but one that shows ounces, and then joining LiveStrong again. If I'm going to do the low-glycemic-index diet, I need feedback on my percentages. Presently, I'm estimating. LiveStrong has the calculators to figure those out. I will definitely get the scale for my daughter and son-in-law for Christmas.

Erin...Oh, don't get me wrong when I say I'm eating more calories. So far my highest has been between 1050/1166 calories. However, I've been eating my biggest meal earlier and I think for me that may make a difference. Previously I was averaging below 1000 calories.

dianda...Joannew...Hope...Erika

Hello everybody! These past few days have been quite hectic.

MARCH GOAL: 115.

Week One - from 123.8 lbs to 123.4 lbs
Week Two - from 124 lbs to 120.8 lbs

WEEK THREE

Sun 3-10 = = = = 120.6 lbs
Mon 3-11 = = = = 119.5 lbs
Tue 3-12 = = = = 120.1 lbs
Wed 3-13 = = = = 121.2 lbs
Thu 3-14 = = = = 119.0 lbs

These past few days I've been eating above my carb limits, about 60-70 g per day on average. I'm hyperinsulinemic and consequently reactive hypoglycemic, so low carb is the best and actually only way for me to eat, period. I was diagnosed in late 2011 but didn't do anything about it until November 2012 ( ) when I took the plunge. All these months I've tried to keep under 30 g per day but well, y'all know what?

I've finally accepted the fact that for me a life without some sweets isn't worth living! If the best diet is the one you can keep forever, well then I commit forever to a moderately low carb diet (40-80 g per day), because man I just can't say no to a pastry in the morning, or an orange in the evening, or some potatoes with that meat (not all on the same day, of course!). I personally can't live all my life counting every hidden carb. I refuse to do that. I've become carbphobic so I was kind of freaking out about gaining back the weight, but the good news is that I didn't gain any but had a nice drop instead

Sharss, welcome back!! And... that's a great drop!

Great job Joanne, Maryann, Erin, Wukong!

Erika, I truly do think you may be reactive hypoglycemic! Get that thing tested, take care.

Check out the Thread "The Man Who never Gave Up" on the Main Lowcarb Lobby. Especially interesting was reading his FaceBook account of his eating throughout his weight loss - most interesting, to me anyway, was how he changed his WOE along the way. Fits my theory if something stops working, make a change.

...I'm with you on your thinking. For me it could have been drinking so much coffee why Atkins didn't work for me as well as in the past. But at my age, like I'm going to give it up? Not hardly. OTOH, it just could be my bod has changed and although I did lose a few pounds on Atkins, the time came to try something else. I also want a WOE that I can live with. Congratulations on your loss!

Joannew...Just noticed you met your second goal on your profile yesterday and you didn't even give yourself a clap. So here's one for you.

Wukong...You may be up a bit today, but looks like you're going to meet your minimum of two pound loss this week.

Good Morning Calorie Busting Team!

Same-o today, but not disappointed. Why? Because I'm exercising and weight hasn't gone up! Did Body Sculpture yesterday with very light weights and 20 minutes of yoga. Probably did 1/3 intensity as Kelly, but going to take awhile to get equal with her. Most important for me is all the sweating I did. Might go to show that my bod is strongly retaining salt, so the exercising/sweating is helping. At some point, I'll drop. Right now I want to keep my week 1 lb loss.

March 10 - March 16

Sunday…..…..3-10……….130
Monday…......3-11……….128.5
Tuesday….....3-12……….128.5
Wednesday...3-13……...127.5 New Low
Thursday…....3-14........127.5
Friday……......3-15……….127.5
Saturday…....3-16

Maryann…Junk eating??? Behave yourself today and you’ll be down tomorrow. It's ok if you maintain though for the week as it means drop next week. My weight really has nothing to do with discipline since I can do the same thing and my bod will do what it will do.

dianda…You’ve been doing great so don’t sabotage yourself.

Joannew…Way to go, girl! You’ve lost a total of 14 pounds since you started and almost to your third Profile Goal and just so close to your Work Challenge Goal!

Erin...Wukong...Erika...Hope...Low Carb Librarian

Food for thought...Maybe!

How many revisit our Thread when tempted? I know yesterday, I didn't feel like exercising since I was tired due to not enough sleep. I re-visited our Thread and was so inspired by you all that I did my exercise after all. It also reminded me of my own progress or non-progress which made me want to hang in there.

We're a Calorie Busting Team!

Hey calorie busters! TGIF!!!

And I mean that loosely since I know the weekends are more of a challenge for me with the eating
I don't even want to step on the scale, but I know I'm up, the pants I wore to work today were too tight
Still not driving myself crazy though, something gotta give soon!!!

Joanne...I told you so !!!

Maryann...You got this! Even if it's not back down tomorrow, it will be in a few days, you are doing great!

Dianda....Carbs will do that, why do those pesky things have to taste so good

Sharon...You are doing so good! You are right not to be disappointed about the weight staying the same! You lost 2 1/2 pounds in a matter of a few days, your body still trying to catch up to that!

Erin...Hope...Wukong

Erika...Don't cry. You know it's just water weight.

Don't I wish I lost 2 1/2 pounds this week, but didn't really. I finished last week at 128.5 so it's just a one pound loss, but I'll take it. That 130 jump was due to...well, you know...my one awful favorite carb food. You can tell how much salt I retained by the fast jump down to my former low weight.

Just popped in to say hi!! And Happy Friday. I'm off the scales for a few days. I did see a new low yesterday but tonight is treat night. I came down with a cold on Wednesday so I'm not sure what all the Day/Night Cold meds are doing. It's my own fault. I was all Ms. Braggy Pants about how I haven't been sick in years.

I'm drinking a TON of water, taking exta supplements and eating healthy. Feels like it's almost past.

You guys hang tough this weekend. Enjoy tiny treats.

Sharon darling...You are right, most of it is probably water weight, but eating 4000 calories for a few days straight also put a bit of that "other"stuff on It will all work out in the end though, I refuse to give up, can't give up because I can not do this a third time, that's right I lost the same 90 pounds 10 years ago and gained them all back...I refuse to let that happen this time!

And don't you play down your losses! You are doing a fabulous job, and even if it is "only" one pound, that is a lot to lose since you are not big to begin with! Many people, including me can learn a thing or two from you
