Jeanie, are you drinking enough water? Hace you cut out caffeine? You aren't doing the uber-low cal diet, but if you are cutting out sugar/caffeine that could be the cause of your headaches. Or it could be a change in barometric pressure too, that always sets off headaches for me! Hopefully it will resolve soon!
I think the year you got 2ft of snow we got nothing! We haven't had this much snow in 2-3 years! |

Aack! Weak moment. Had two glasses of wine! We'll see at the end of the week how my "cheating" hurt me-it's an experiment with hopefully not horrible consequences. But seriously, with having a husband who has to gain weight, I needed a break from the rigors of this diet. Hey, it's grapes, right? Grapes are allowed! hahaha! Seriously, it was an intended variation. I have to make this diet work for me. Not being able to have a glass of wine with my friends, as long as it isn't every night, should work on special occasions. Like I said, this is an experiment.

Hi Newbug! Welcome!
I do go to the Facebook page to look things up, but really don't want to have my weight loss efforts be THAT public...it comes up on your friends newsfeeds everytime you post there. But it does have a lot of great info. Any Tips?? |

Hi Jeanie,
Back on track! I def. don't recommend drinking wine on this...there just isn't enough food to absorb the alcohol, and even though I had just 2 glasses of a very light wine my stomach was upset all day yesterday! How is it going for you? Are you still getting headaches? Have you started south beach yet? Kids are home from school still, they weren't able to clear all the sidewalks so they cancelled. I am ready for them to go back! They've had a four day weekend, sledding sipping hot cocoa, eating cinnamon rolls and making smores at the firepit that I dug out yesterday. I admit it, I am a little jealous ![]() Last edited by cheftrish; 02-11-2013 at 11:57 AM.. |

Oh my I'd be jealous too, all those carby treats sound good! The headaches have lessened I think it may have been too much of the aminos? I cut back on the AA and still occasionally have a mild headache, but before it was pretty much all day. I am still not doing a specific plan just eating low to moderate fat and high protein. I have lost a few pounds but was up 2lbs. today, I think due to lots of high sodium foods the day before. How are you doing? Hungry? Hope your schedule with the kids gets back to normal soon. I remember those days with my boys, the off school snow days were fun but enough is enough.

Hi Jeanie,
I am actually having trouble getting all the calories in! I don't want to go too low because I don't want to stall weight loss, but only managed 4 light meals yesterday. Eating every 2-3 hours is hard! I am off to the gym today- it will be good to get back, though with all the shoveling I think I had my workouts this weekend Menu yesterday Breakfast: Protein Shake- 1 cup blueberries Snack: 3/4 cup cottage cheese 2 cups lettuce 1 cup spinach 1 small tomato 1 small cucumber acv and mustard and pepper to dress Lunch: 5 oz chicken 1 cup spinach 1 small tomato 1 small cuke mustard and acv to dress Snack: protein shake and blueberries Dinner- too full went to bed. Not an ideal day, a lot of the same things. I need to mix it up a bit, but I love blueberries and love those shakes!! I am also a cottage cheese freak! Can't get enough (I wish I could have goat cheese though). Today started with a shake and blueberries again since I am headed to the gym and running late. ttfn! |

Jeanie, I don't know what could be causing the headaches, how often are you taking the aminos? Can you post a menu? And how much water are you drinking? Have you added anything new to your menu? Wine, Chocolate, Mushrooms, and soy can all cause headaches. Or even if you have switched to decaf from regular coffee.
I think a gain of 2lbs could just be water, that's why I try not to weigh myself every day. Even exercise can build up lactic acid in your muscles and cause you to retain water. Back to the headaches I tend to get them if my BP is high, so you may want to take your BP too, just to be safe. |

No headache so far today. I really think it was the aminos I was taking several capsules a day plus the braggs. Now I am just using the braggs and have been doing better each day since stopping the capsules. I am amazed that you are having a hard time eating all you food! Do you think the aminos suppress your appetite?

I think they say they have some sort of herbal appetite suppressant, but though it doesn't sound like it, it is a lot. Also a lot of water, 80+ oz a day! Day 12 underway! It will be interesting to see how much I've lost by Saturday, it's getting close to that TOM, so not expecting a huge loss but my stomach feels flatter, and I definitely have more energy than before.

Keep going Trish you're doing so well! Although I am not following the AD some of the principles are helping me such as taking the aminos and eating high protein. I have found after much experimentation that I do better with low(er) fat and high protein, so this thread is serving as a reminder of what I need to continue to do.

I think the guide would be helpful, I refer to it all the time- especially on days when I am working out and your calorie uptake should be 200-500 more, depending on your workout- it can get a little confusing at times. They also have a section on supplements that is helpful and what to do in case of a stall.
Weighed in at the gym. Another 3lbs down! I am still 2 days away from my "official" weigh in, but am doing a 90 day fit challenge at the gym and we have to get weighed in. So that was a bonus to hear! Today is my 21st anniversary, DH and I went out to lunch and I was actually able to find something on the menu. Seared Ahi Tuna with a salad, and no dressing. Brought my liquid aminos (the ones you are taking) and used it for the tuna. Tonight we are having lobster and I am making a dressing with ACV, cumin, lime juice and chipotle peppers for it- no butter! Also going to see Silver Linings Playbook. Looking forward to it on my sister's recommendation. we have a brother who has battled mental illness for 25 years and she said it is like a window into his life. Any plans for Valentines? |

Hope you enjoyed the movie Trish, I'll have to make a point to see that one. You are losing well, what is the loss now like 7 pounds or so in two weeks? I had a bad eating day yesterday which started with chocolates given to me by one of my preschoolers. Up a pound from that ugh!
I went ahead and ordered the whole AD program, guess I will get it some time next week. Off to work, talk to you later. Happy Anniversary! ![]() |

Hi Jeanie, I am up today too. Which is why I don't like to weigh every day. up 1.5. I knew I shouldn't get on the scales. I think it's just due to that TOM, and not going to let it ruin my day. I ate perfect yesterday, was right on calorie target (1025 total) but overall good.
Menu: Breakfast 1 cup blueberries 80 protein shake 120 Snack: protein shake 120 Lunch ahi tuna 140 salad 50 Snack 3/4 cup 4% cottage cheese 165 celery dinner Lobster 200 (I went over the 5 oz) salad 50 snack at movies blueberries 80 Feeling bloated and pretty gross today. Also worked out for 40 min yesterday. So I really think this is water weight and hormones. I will weigh again tomorrow my official day for a better result. And the movie was AWESOME! It sounds strange, but it was really funny and uplifting. One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Last edited by cheftrish; 02-15-2013 at 05:31 AM.. |

Long day today, catered that dinner that was postponed due to blizzard. had 2 glasses of wine and some of the meal (cooked with butter and flour). Sigh. It's so hard sometimes to be good. Overall that was the only straying I did all week. I sort of planned for it. I knew it was coming up, so didn't go over calorie limit, just didn't eat totally on plan. As Amino says, forget about it. Tomorrow is the start of a new day.

just weighed myself - down another lb! I should say that my scale and the gym's scales are not in synch. Mine is weighing a bit heavier and is digital theirs is the old medical type scale. So even though they say I have lost 8 so far, I am going with the more conservative number.
Jeanie have your got your amino supplies yet? Last edited by cheftrish; 02-19-2013 at 08:38 AM.. |

Yay for you!
Even though I have strayed slightly as in wine- eaten with protein twice in one week ( I counted my wine as a fruit-hahaha!) and eaten chicken once cooked in butter and flour-I meant to keep some out for myself for later but sauteed all the chicken together (a knucklehead moment) but didn't eat the valdostana sauce I made for it (and actually rinsed the chicken before I ate it. You should have seen the look on my "staff", meaning my teens, who help me for bigger events, when I did that!). I still ended up losing a pound! On track for the last 2 days. I can't wait for you to join me! This is our year!! Last edited by cheftrish; 02-19-2013 at 07:56 PM.. |

Okay have my menu for starting tomorrow. I sampled the drops just to see what they were like, eww! I already know that I am going to use a little less cottage cheese and replace it with lite cream in my coffee.
The book said caution foods could be used as substitutes, that was not clear to me. Do? you eat the beans? Last edited by jeaniem; 02-20-2013 at 02:00 PM.. |

I haven't had any beans. The drops are yuck! Sort of like vanilla extract...without the vanilla! I have been having a hard time getting all the meals in. Going to really try today!

Okay I don't want to jinx myself but I am amazed at how well the drops seem to be suppressing my appetite. Only complaint is I feel like I need to stay close to a bathroom (tmi).
Breakfast: Laura's lean burger w/onions mustard and a drop of braggs Lunch: Another burger topped with a fried egg 1 TBL. mct oil Dinner: Wild white fish 1/2 c. green beans 1/2 c. cauliflower Protein shake made with spinach, strawberries and cottage cheese. Drank loads of water and cut back the cottage cheese to allow for cream in my coffee. I didn't snack like they say, but not sure I really should if I am not hungry and getting enough calories in over the course of the day. Last edited by jeaniem; 02-21-2013 at 05:26 PM.. |

Down a total of 1lb for the week. I had the stomach bug and have been eating LOT'S of TOAST to get through it. So weight is the same. I think the reason they have you eat the five meals is to rev up your metabolism. I guess the drops do stave off hunger! I have really been having a hard time getting all that food in!
You are so funny about going to the loo. I think for me it's all that durned water!!! I feel like one of the women in those commercials for depends...also reminiscent of just after having babies. Can't sneeze or cough to hard! lol! |

Sorry to hear you were sick Trish. I had a touch of that last week, thankfully not to badly unlike last year when I had a nasty case of it. I have been a little hungrier today, I think because I didn't sleep well. The weekend will be the test for me as I will need to keep busy and stay away from food. We are going to go and see the Silver Linings movie this weekend.

Oh...I hope you like it! I thought It was soooo good! My brother is bipolar and I grew up with a lot of craziness in the house, mostly because my parents didn't know how to deal with it-not sure it was even a diagnoses back then. I thought it was interesting how the two "crazy" people seemed the most sane at times, but I don't want to give away the plot/story. It's great! Best movie Robert Deniro has been in in years!
I brought some blueberries and some cottage cheese and celery sticks in my purse (thank goodness for disposable plastic containers!) with me so I could munch while I watched! I was hungriest the 5th day for whatever reason. Haven't had a problem since then. Last edited by cheftrish; 02-22-2013 at 05:45 PM.. |
