I did an all egg fast yesterday to undo some of the damage of Thursday and Friday, looks like I flushed out most of the sodium

Hi all, new here but thought I'd post since I've been calorie counting for 5 weeks now. I lost 15lbs calorie counting from 1/10 to 2/17. My goal is somewhere between 175 to 180 without any muscle loss. Fat % has dropped from 28% to 24% while muscle % has stayed at 34% and versical fat has dropped from a 14 to a 11. Estimated body age dropped from 69 to 62 (I'm 53). I'm using a scale I purchased off a large river in south america website that measures all that stuff. My calorie intake based on current weight is 1720. My diet based on the last 10 days works out to be 53.5% carbs, 24.5% fat & 22% protein. I'm really learning how to get the most quantities with the least calories, quite an eye opener.

Back to work for me today, and I made it through the whole weekend without caving in!!! Rewarded with another drop this morning, shocked about it because my calories have been way higher than usual (cream cheese by the tubs)

Good morning to all. Just checked in and see that there are some nice losses. I am still at 134 and can't seem to get below 130. Have been in the 130's forever (it seems anyway), but I remember a while back, I was stuck in the 140's so I shouldn't complain.

Erika...How in the world do you get rid of a tub of cream cheese? I bought some before I started Atkins and last night was the first time I used it. I put it on some slices of cheese for a snack.

So far I've been adding fat to my diet by adding shredded cheese (or slices) and mayonnaise.

Made my chiropractor yesterday and brother, my bod is sure unbalanced. Dr. Allen's son did my intake tests and he is so against the Atkins Diet. He kept basically blabbing the regular medical propaganda. I was disappointed, but I still like them as I am familiar with Dr. Allen's techniques. Hopefully, I can be a good example for the Atkins Diet.

Dr. Allen wants me to drink Apple Juice as he says it clears out the liver. Didn't tell him I can't until I get past Induction. At the rate I'm going - so far - I'll be staying on Induction until I reach goal which will take it beyond 14 days. Then I'll do the Apple Juice.

Sharon...Another low You are rocking this Atkins diet! You will have to let me in on your secret, tell me what a typical menu for the day looks like (and calories)> By the way there are some good teas out there to tetox the liver, you don't have to drink apple juice, look into some dandelion tea!
And no, I did not get rid of the cream cheese, I am eating a whole bunch of it, with a spoon right out of the tub!!! , also been adding shredded cheddar to my eggs
Lots of people are against the Atkins diet, but the way I look at it, it can't be worse than eating all the processed, factory produced "franken foods"

Erika Thanks for letting me know how you ate all your cream cheese. Now I couldn't do that because my whipped cream cheese has 5g of fat with 2 grams of carbs. Because I use half and half in my coffee, those carbs (1) add up so I have to be careful.

You're going to fall over at my calories, but Atkins keeps my appetite down which shrinks my stomach. I guess.

Here goes:
Sat: Breakfast: Egg Omelet with shredded cheese (Multi vitie). 280 cal. Lunch: My favorite meal -> On a layer of luttuce or rolled up luttuce with Taco hamburger (broke up hamburger while cooking, added taco sauce <- no carbs), added shredded cheese and TBsp of mayonnaise, slice of tomoto on side. 409 cal.
(Vities pot/cal/E/C) Dinner: Pork Chop, spinach with butter, 2 slices cheese. jello with cool whip. ~420 cal. Later had a few very thin half slices of cheese. 150 cal.
Total Calories: 1150

Sun: Breakfast: 1 HB egg. 2 pieces of bacon. 140 Cal. Same vites except added D3. Lunch: Same as Sat. but bit more taco hamburger. Jello with cool whip. ~459 cal. Dinner Opps no dinner as breakfast late so lunch late. Snack later, 8:30, 1 HB egg, 2 slices bacon 140 Cal. Total 739 calories.

Mon. Breakfast same as Sun. Lunch: not really a lunch because ran into Dr. Allen's appt. Ate some slice of cheese before I left. 100 cal. Dinner: Pork Chop dinner - same as Sat. ~420. Snack: 3 small slice of cheese with creme cheese. ~ 150 cal. Total 810 cal.

I always cook in quantity so many of my meals are repeats. i.e. I don't cook one pork chop, but three. I'm going to slow cook pork country ribs tonight for tomorrow and I'll cook enough for at least three meals.

Hope this is helpful. Either that or you'll think I'm a crackpot. I've been making sure I get plenty of fat. I believe that is what curves the appetite. At least for me.

As far as Atkins Diet goes, one can't say what the nutritionists, medical field, government with their lobbyists have succeeded at pushing on the American people has worked. I've done my homework and no one is going to fool me especially with lies.

Sharrs, That doesn't seem like much calories. How many calories a day are you supposed to eat if you were at weight, 1300 or so? Do you also supplement this with some exercise?

Sharon...Thanks for sharing your menu's and calorie intake! Yes you are a little on the low side there, I eat double the amount, and it's not even because of hunger, I am still pretty snacky at night, wish I could stop that nonsense and eat only when HUNGRY!
My food repeats itself too, I don't eat til around 10 am and I bring hard boiled eggs to work for that. Lunch I usually have tuna with mayo or leftover meat from dinner. At night either chicken, hamburger patty, but then there comes the snacking...trying not to touch anything with carbs I go for the cheese...

Good morning all! Not a great 2 week weigh in but I'll take it.

Wise words Maryann. BUT THIS MORNING I HAD AN EYE AWAKENING THAT I SHOULDN'T TAKE THE THIS WEIGHT LOSS FOR GRANTED.

I got overly confident last week and thought that I needed to eat more. My weigh in yesterday says that was not a good idea.

It's funny how treats allowed on the weekends only can sneak into my house and become treats allowed every few days. I'm back to treats only on Saturdays.

My treats are Tempura battered Sushi and 2 glasses of wine.

When I did Atkins in '98/High Protein, usually I dropped .5 on most days. I didn't eat high fat at that time so this time will be interesting to compare.

Week 4
Feb 17 – Feb 23


Sunday 2-17 = 131
Monday 2-18 = 130
Tuesday 2-19 = 129.5
Wednesday 2-20 = 129.5

Wukong and Erika and anybody else concerned about my calories - don't be. Erika, of course you're going to need more calories than me since you're more active - working lady, hubby to take care of, and what not.

I belonged to LiveStrong about a year and a half ago and calories for me were calculated to be 959/day due to my life style (inactive), age (69 or 70 at the time). This was for me to lose 1 lb/wk with exercise. I never did anything with that site because I couldn't get my calories under that.

Listen to your own bod. If mine doesn't like what I'm doing, it'll let me know. Plus everyday isn't as low as Sun. and Mon. Note Sat. was ~1109 and yesterday was ~ 1080.

Wukong, you'll have to read past posts to get the answer to whether or not I'm exercising. However, hopefully I get some yoga in today. Dr. Allen encouraged that idea.

Erin...You're doing great!

Joannew...WOW! What a great drop!

Maryann...Of course it's water weight! Your real weight is 150 lbs.

Sharon...We both stayed the same today! May be that means the scales move (DOWN) tomorrow?
You do KNOW that the comment about the calories was not critizism right? I actually wish I had more selfcontrol to throw in a lower calorie day once or twice a week to shake things up. Oh well, may be once it gets warmer and I actually enjoy eating just salads, I just got to make it through this loooooong winter without gaining any weight back

Oh no, Erika, I wasn't taking your comment as a criticism. That's why after I posted my calories I said I hoped it was helpful - or maybe you'd think I'm a crackpot (with my low calories).

I know people worry about starvation mode with low calories, but if my bod wants more food, it'll tell me. Good news also is that my muscles that I got by doing my exercises are still there. In fact, it sure seems to me that my thigh muscles are even stronger. Strange.

You're doing great, Erika! Just stay on that wagon or Joannew will come after you. No relaxing because you hit that Feb. Goal. We want to see your low of 167 or 167+.

Going the wrong way, ate 12oz of boneless chicken & large thing of fries last night. Expect a drop tomorrow though as I'm a few hundred calories under today.

Anyone use a visceral fat muscle % scale? I've been using one for about 1.5 months now. Liking it alot as it's encouraging to see something drop here or there. My virtual age started out at 69 (I'm 53) and am now at 63. Visceral fat was at 14 and now at 11, need to be at 9 to be at the high-end of normal range.
