Lovely to read this Linda. I really hope this turns out to be the way forward.
I have had a big eating day, but it was all planned. Tomorrow will be just a regular day and so should Saturday. |

Oooh, I just had to come in and tell y'all this was featured on The Today Show this morning. I thought of y'all when they were talking about it. Of course the gist of it was "I could not do that", and the doc said "it has no benefits" but I think we know better
Oh, you know how people say "I cannot live on 500 calories" or "I couldn't do it". The lay people they found to "interview" in the street just don't understand the science and research. And I believe the doctor they had on the show didn't even look into any research or book that has been written. But it is out there as a "new fad". Maybe more will join now?? Hmmmm.

It's becoming more mainstream, for sure, but not quite there yet I guess.
After my 3 crazy days last weekend, I'm happy to say my weight this morning was 161.4. Just about 5 pounds gone with only 2 DDs in the last 4, and heading into my 3 UDs in a row with no qualms. ![]() |

The doctor on the Today show clearly had no idea and had not done any research (googling) before the show.
But just that episode alone will attract a ton of attention. As we know, a plan does not need good reviews to get peop on board. |

Hi I just wanted to pop by and say hello
I am Lola and I live in the UK.I have been lurking for a while and reading all your stories with interest. I.ve been on JUDDD for approx 10 months now. (Thanks to Kissa). I usually post on the Low Carb Friends site but was obviously interested in this thread. At the moment I just seem to have plateaued. On my UD....I put on 1lb and on my DD I lose a 1lb...see saw see saw. So have now committed to doing 3 set down days a week and 4 UD's just to see how that works out. Have to agree with all your comments at IF....it's as if all of a sudden the media have discovered it when we have all been doing it for a long time lol. All the magazine and supplements have information on their front covers like its some new miracle diet....I have to laugh....However, I would like to say its one of the most forgiving ways of eating. Usually a couple of DD's sorts out any over indulgences...even if you are stuck at the moment like I am. However, as long as I am not putting on weight that's OK. Have a nice day Lola x Last edited by lola5k; 02-24-2013 at 03:54 AM.. |

Lola!! As far as what the media says about ANYTHING I say pooh to them and now they have given me a reason to debunk their claims!! ![]() Going on day 3 of my RDs (regular days), which started Friday. I was up .2 of a pounds yesterday and 2.2 pounds this morning BUT I'm ate lots of salty things yesterday and a bit too many bread carbs and from experience I know that these things cause me to retain water. I remember the "bounce" on JUDDD so I'm just flowing along today, eating better choices and waiting for my blessed SD (small day) tomorrow to move that water weight and then some out! All in all, though I'm down 1.4 pounds since starting this 1 week ago and I'm really happy about this. And my binging is so totally under control I'm just and am loving this WOE for helping me get past this monster!! ![]()

Our weight does, naturally go up and down, but most of us have done JUDDD so the bounce it part of our psyche.
I have so much hope for you on this Linda. Enjoying DHs birthday,we had a delicious Italian lunch with wonderful wine. Calamari followed by calve's liver and lots of wonderful bread and oil. I am very happy. |

Friday, Sat and Sunday of party time for DH's birthday with lots of food and drink!I was mindful, but....... ![]() Anyway, I was VERY surprised that I only gained .2 pounds more on my bounce from the weekend and with a good SD today it will be gone. I need to be more mindful of my junk calories on my RDs, too. At 55 years old calories DO matter, no matter how I try to convince myself that they don't. I just HATE counting calories everyday so I will eat better and that should help. |

That is what I try to do too Linda, but I won't say it always works.
I am a terror for salty snacks. My RD (like that), is going well, so far only liquids and I have just made a big vegetable soup for this evening. Will add some pasta to it for DH. |

Thank you Cindy, that's also great news about maintenance for sure. I am open to any suggestions as you girls are light years ahead of me with IF.
I have bought the book and am reading threads about DD, UD, menus, etc. |

I am curious about calorie allotments for the 5 non-fasting days for weight loss. I realize that most of the people here are using 5:2 for maintenance, but I want to use it for continuing weight loss. I have googled it and came up short. I feel like if I'm not fasting eod, I shouldn't eat as much as I was allowed on UDs (JUDDD), since I still need to lose.
Sorry if this has been covered, I just could not go through the whole thread. |

I'm back to doing 5:2, now that Dr. Michael Mosley's book - "The Fast Diet" was finally released in the U.S. today! If anyone is interested, his 5:2 fast diet forum uk is booming with new converts, info. & support. Last edited by SlimNana; 02-26-2013 at 08:13 AM.. |

Well you'd simply have to try it and see, it isn't like 'giving up' JUDDD, it is more like testing the waters of a JUDDD extension. We are all learning together here, but you can see Beeb and Scalestepper are losing.

I am having trouble with believing that it will work for weight loss. Especially if there are those here eating less than the recommendation both on RDs and DDs and only maintaining.
Please, someone help me understand lol. I really want to do this so I can get off the roller coaster ride for a while. |

It's in its infancy here, so I don't think any of us can say definitively, one way or the other. We're experimenting and figuring out what works. It seems plenty of people who have done it more than a few weeks HAVE lost weight; it's just a new concept here on LCF as far as I can tell.
I did start 5:2 for maintenance at 165.8 and have since seen as low as 161.0, so I guess I've technically lost almost 5 pounds in a month, without trying. My goal was to maintain between 160-165, so I didn't really think about it too much. If I get below 160, I won't freak out. ![]()

I know it's new, and I appreciate any and all help.
I did see where people are losing, but no one who's come straight from JUDDD, I don't think.? I guess it can't hurt to try it. The only thing I'd need to do after a week or so is add more DD's, if it's not working. I guess I am trying to complicate things lol. |

Yup.
![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry![]() Well after my day of goodies yesterday, I was astonished and delighted to only be up .4 of a pound this morning. I own up to having eaten a bacon sandwich for late breakfast, a chocolate twist and a milky coffee for an afternoon snack and then, for dinner a chicken, bacon, and leek casserole with a creamy sauce along with potatoes roasted in goose fat and some roasted vegetables. Dark chocolate and red wine were in there too. ![]() ![]() ![]() Nice though.I am out with friends tonight so want to save my UD cals for that. It is a dinner followed by a cabaret so I think there'll be quite a lot of food involved, (and the odd beverage!) At least I made it to the gym.

I'm nervous too but this month hasn't been great on Juddd and I've followed rotations to a T w the exception of 1 unplanned MD after a night of drinking. I've counted cals religiously everyday. Looks like loss for this month will be 3-4 pounds. I'm
Thinking Ill stay on Up Down to see what happens. |
